If you want that classic Mini charm combined with an electric powertrain, the SE version of the Countryman SUV is the only game in town these days. Although it looks identical to the gas-powered Countryman, underneath is a battery pack that offers an estimated range of between 204 and 212 miles on a charge. Its 308-hp dual-motor electric powertrain provides decent acceleration and standard all-wheel drive. The Countryman Electric offers a crisp exterior design and a nicely outfitted cabin with plenty of fun features, including a circular infotainment system. Buyers who aren't ready to make the switch to electric just yet will no doubt pass on the EV for the regular Countryman (reviewed separately), but those who take a chance on the Countryman Electric will find that very little of Mini's signature spunkiness has been lost in translation.

EV Motor, Power, and Performance
While Mini sells single-motor models in other markets, all Countryman Electrics sold in the U.S. come with a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup called All4. This powertrain features two electric motors that in combination make 308 horsepower. Ride and handling are nicely balanced here, but no one will mistake the Electric for the performance-oriented John Cooper Works model (reviewed separately). When we drove the Countryman Electric, we appreciated its one-pedal driving capability but felt that its extra weight compared with the gas version prevented it from being as eager and responsive.

In our testing, the Countryman SE All4 got to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds. That's a couple ticks slower than the similarly powered John Cooper Works gas version.

Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The Countryman S E All4 comes standard with a 64.6-kWh battery and has an EPA-estimated range of up to 212 miles of driving per charge. That figure is for Countrymans with 18-inch wheels; upgrading to 19-inch wheels knocks the range down to 204 miles. Rival EV SUVs such as the Kia Niro EV and the Tesla Model Y both offer more driving range per charge at a similar price point. In our real-world 75-mph highway range test, the Countryman achieved 180 miles. We also tested its DC fast-charging speed and were able to get it from 10 percent to 90 percent charge in 39 minutes.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPGe
According to the EPA, the jumbo Mini EV is good for a 96 MPGe combined rating when equipped with 18-inch wheels. Wearing larger 19-inch wheels, the Countryman Electric's rating drops to 91 MPGe combined. In our 75-mph highway fuel economy test, the Countryman achieved 75 MPGe. MPGe stands for miles per gallon of gas equivalent, an EPA metric that estimates PHEV and EV vehicle fuel efficiency. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
Like the Cooper Electric hatchback, the Countryman has an interior with sustainable materials and a simplified design. A fabric-colored dash pad cleverly hides configurable ambient lighting elements that change color and shape depending on which drive mode is selected. The new Countryman is also slightly larger than the previous-generation model, which benefits passenger and cargo space. The rear seat is noticeably roomier than the 2024 Countryman, although tall passengers may wish for more legroom. We were able to fit 8 carry-on suitcases with the rear seats up and 22 carry-ons with the rear seats folded. Sadly, the Countryman Electric offers no front-trunk area for additional storage.

Infotainment and Connectivity
Minis have long had a circular display in the middle of the dashboard, but in the 2025 Countryman Electric, the circular display is entirely digital. This panel serves as both a gauge display and infotainment, and it runs Mini's latest software interface, which provides many customizable features. Not only are there a bunch of pre-programmed backgrounds for the display, but the system will also allow you to upload photos of your own. So, if you want a photo of your cat to show up there, you can easily make that happen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be standard, and there's even an option to download video games to the system to help you pass the time at a public charging station.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
While all Countryman Electric models will come with driver-assistance features such as automated emergency braking and lane-keeping assist, if you want to access adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature you'll need to spring for the Driving Assistant Plus package. Miami's Curio Is Making Brick-And-Mortar Retail Exciting Again

Launched in December 2019 by fashion veterans Danielle Licata and Jeff Lasota, the multi-brand concept store is rewriting the rules of experiential shopping against the odds. Curio Co-Founders Jeff Lasota and Danielle Licata 'We never wanted to build just a boutique," Licata, once president of Coterie, one of the largest fashion trade shows in the U.S., explained. "The idea from day one was to build something that would be like a cultural hub—where you'd be able to discover fashion, meet new designers, and be inspired simultaneously." Curio at Faena Bazaar, Miami Beach Store began as a pop-up outside Miami Swim Week. 'It was going to be temporary,' Licata said. 'But we did wonderful business and realized there was demand for something more curated and interactive.' That pop-up led to a year-long lease at the Faena Bazaar to create a multi-brand store. Then the pandemic hit. The duo's timing could have been disastrous. They shuttered Curio's physical doors in March 2020, but then quickly adapted. 'We decided to take the store on the road during COVID,' she said. 'We went to New Jersey, New York—wherever we saw that our customers were coming from to Miami.' That move was not only tactical—it ultimately seeded customer loyalty in direct, key markets that continue to benefit them today. Curio's success is also impossible to detangle from Miami's overall cultural renaissance. The arts sector contributes over $2.1 billion annually to the local economy and supports over 31,000 jobs. Art Basel alone brings in 90,000 global visitors each year, with the majority being a very fashion-friendly crowd. By the time the duo reopened a brick-and-mortar store six months later, Miami had become one of the pandemic's hottest relocation destinations, drawing with it even more wealth, commerce, and fashion tastemakers from around the world. Curio rode that wave with surgical precision. The store's success is also impossible to detangle from Miami's overall cultural renaissance. "You're going from having the biggest tennis tournament one week, then an art fair the next week, and then suddenly there's a music festival," Licata said. "We go out of our way to be part of it all." At its core, Curio retail experience, similar to most multi-brand stores, is about discovery. That means not only curating heritage brands like Marni and Zimmerman, but also one-of-a-kind, emerging designers. It's this balance between the familiar and the surprising that drives visitors and sales. 'Established brands get people in, but emerging brands push them to the checkout,' Licata notes. And it's not just women's wear that is selling well, 'our male customers are buying more—and wisely so,' said Licata. 'Once we get them in a fitting room, they're shopping. They want to feel put together.' Rich the Kid at Curio This incubator spirit is central to Curio's business model. Licata and Lasota don't just stock names—they also mentor and develop designers, often helping international labels make their U.S. debuts, helping them adapt to the American tastes. Between them, they have a 360-degree view of the fashion world: Lasota held leadership roles at Stella McCartney, Belstaff, Yeezy, VFiles, and Johanna Ortiz, while Licata is credited with reinvigorating Coterie and still works closely with brands and influencers around the world. Curio also eschews the usual trend-chasing. 'We believe in trends, but we don't believe in changing the identity of the person,' Licata said. 'Barbiecore, for instance, can be interpreted across styles—from the minimal girl to the sexy girl to the bohemian in a hot-pink kaftan.' This lens helps customers shop more intentionally and hold onto pieces longer—a type of thoughtful shopping that Curio champions. 'We only have one sale a year—and it's for charity,' Licata added. 'Otherwise, we treat a piece with respect.' The store also partners with designers to upcycle deadstock materials into unique new garments, creating fresh inventory while reducing waste. Beyond the product, what sets Curio apart is its immersive brick-and-mortar experience. The space itself—inside the artistically driven Faena Bazaar—functions like a curated gallery, blending shopping with visual storytelling. Case in point, Curio recently elevated Breakaway's festival merchandise from standard tees to fashion-forward embroidered cabana shirts. 'They went fashion, and we went younger,' Licata explained. 'That sort of synergy is why we are still culturally relevant.' As global travel has resumed, Curio continues to benefit—thanks in part to Miami's status as a leisure mecca. 'People may not spend as freely at home,' Licata said, 'but when they're on vacation, they want experiences.' Fashion influencers at Curio Despite the challenges of building and running a luxury retail business during turbulent times, Licata's passion hasn't dimmed. 'It's not as glamorous as people think. After 20 appointments in Paris, we look like we got hit by a truck,' she laughed. 'But when someone finds something meaningful for a special moment—a wedding, a first date—that's the real reward.' In an age of the click-through-retail, Curio is a rare brick-and-mortar gem that can still surprise and delight. And for a parting advice for those seeking to repeat Curio's success Licata suggests to 'stay curious and stay plugged in.' Taylor police unveil department's first autonomous flight drones
Taylor police said they're set to become Michigan's first department with autonomous flight drones, a move they hope will improve officer safety and response call times. "We can send this out to give us an eye in the sky, a huge advantage to our officers responding and to those who are on scene," said Taylor Police Chief John Blair. The drone's launchpad is on top of the department's headquarters on Goddard Road. "When we get a 911 call, what we do is we drop a pin on a map where that call is located at and send a signal to activate the drone. It takes about 60 seconds to activate, and then it goes to a predetermined altitude and autonomously flies to that location," said Lieutenant Jeff Adamisin. As the drone flies, it's gathering information about the scene and other responders to give police a fuller picture of what's going on. Devin Kachar, who was paralyzed after being shot in the line of duty in Detroit three years ago, said a tool like this will improve officers' safety on the job. "A device like that, that doesn't have to, you know, worry about getting hurt or injured in the line of duty," he said. "it's just a material thing that can be replaced it's nice to know those are up there helping you, getting you maybe different images increasing the safety of what you're doing every day in your job." Adamision and Blair said the drone won't be used for surveillance and is meant to help create a more nimble response for whatever police respond to. "A timesaver, officer safety, citizen safety, citizen safety all rolled up into one," said Blair.

Most people tend to think that teenagers only get paid minimum wage, but a new study shows that many summer teen jobs pay big bucks, even serving as a foundation to prepare young workers for their future careers. A new report showcases 15 of the highest-paying teen jobs for summer of 2025 that don't require a college degree or full-time experience but still offer competitive compensation and benefits and salaries beyond delivering pizzas and flipping burgers. In the past, I have reported on the highest-paying green jobs and side gigs that rival full-time wages. I was excited to discover a recent analysis that highlights lucrative summer teen jobs from the career experts at Resume Genius in their 2025 High-Paying Teen Jobs Report. The team used the latest U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data from 2024 to identify high-paying industries comprising a high percentage of teenage employees. Jobs were selected based on two criteria: they employed at least 20,000 teens (ages 16–19) and were ranked in descending order by median hourly wage, with the top 15 highest-paying roles making the final cut. The final list features a mix of 15 teen-friendly jobs--some hands-on, manual roles as well as entry-level administrative and service. Each job title is ordered in descending order based on hourly income and includes the number of American teens currently employed in each role and the skills needed for each occupation. 1. Food service manager ($31.40 per hour). 33,000 teens employed. Skills needed: Leadership, customer service, problem solving and time management. 2. Carpenter ($28.51 per hour). 32,000 teens employed. Skills needed: Blueprint reading, attention to detail, safety awareness and ability to use tools. 3. Retail supervisor ($25.01 per hour). 37,000 teens employed. Skills needed: Leadership, customer service, conflict resolution and communication. 4. Automotive service technician ($23.88 per hour). 44,000 teens employed. Skills needed: Mechanical aptitude, problem-solving, diagnostic skills and customer service. 5. Administrative assistant ($22.82 per hour). 15,000 teens employed. Skills needed: Communication, organization and active listening. 6. Construction worker ($22.14 per hour). 104,000 teens employed. There's nothing wrong with flipping burgers or delivering pizzas, but it's important that parents and young people know that these highest-paying teen jobs not only offer big salaries but also lay the foundation for future careers.
