Nottingham Forest boss Nuno signs new three-year contract
The 51-year-old led Forest to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, securing European qualification for the first time since the 1995/96 season.
After battling relegation for much of their first two campaigns back in the Premier League after a 23-year absence, Forest were on course to qualify for the Champions League last season.
A late slump in form saw them settle for a place in the Europa Conference League instead and included a flashpoint when owner Evangelos Marinakis confronted Nuno on the pitch after a 2-2 draw against relegated Leicester.
Former Manchester United captain and leading pundit Gary Neville said the Portuguese coach should have resigned in protest at that incident.
However, the former Wolves and Tottenham boss has committed his future to the City Ground and thanked Marinakis for his support since he was appointed in December 2023.
"I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club," Nuno said in a club statement.
"Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season.
"I would like to thank our owner, Mr Marinakis, for his constant support and backing. It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest."
Marinakis paid tribute to the impact made by Nuno and reiterated his desire for the two-time European champions to be contenders for major trophies once more.
"We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together," said the Greek shipping magnate.
"Above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club."

Textor, who also owns a significant stake in Brazilian side Botafogo, initially invested in Palace in 2021. A decision by UEFA on Palace's participation in European competition is expected before the end of the month.

Man City demolish Al Ain to reach Club World Cup last 16
In a match dubbed the "Abu derby", with City owner and United Arab Emirates vice-president Sheikh Mansour's side facing off against that of his elder sibling, Sheikh Mohamed, president of Al Ain and also the country, the Premier League side showed no brotherly love. Ilkay Gundogan put City ahead before starlet Claudio Echeverri netted his first goal for the club with a free-kick and Erland Haaland slotted in the third with a penalty. In the second half Gundogan struck again, Oscar Bobb rolled in the fifth and Rayan Cherki grabbed his first City goal as they pulled level with Juventus on six points at the top of Group G. The result also confirmed Juve's place in the next round. "Now we have to see whether we'll be first or second in the group," said City coach Pep Guardiola. "We played a little bit better than the first game, especially in the second half." Guardiola said on the eve of the game his squad needed trimming and that was reflected in his decision to rotate his entire starting line-up from the opening win over Wydad Casablanca. Gout Gout says 100m 'too short' for him
The 17-year-old won the Australian Athletic Championships in April clocking 19.84 seconds on 200 metres and 9.99 seconds on 100 metres, though both with a tailwind above the limit. He is getting ready to run 200 metres at the Golden Spike meet in the eastern Czech city of Ostrava on Tuesday in his European premiere. "I definitely like 200 more than 100 because 100 is a bit too short for me," Gout told reporters. "You get the start and then you're already at the finish line." "I really like getting out and getting to my top speed and keep holding it to the finish line. So 200 is great and I love it," said Gout, who was born in Australia after his parents migrated from South Sudan. He rose to prominence last December when he clocked the quickest 200m time ever by a 16-year-old of 20.04 sec, bettering Usain Bolt's personal best at the same age. The lanky Gout relished being likened to Bolt whom he called "the epitome of sprinting". "If I could be on that level and just put my little bit of style onto it. After Ostrava, Gout will compete at the Diamond League in Monaco on July 11 with eyes on the world championships in Tokyo in September. "Obviously the world championships is the main goal and I just want to see what I can do on the world stage against professional athletes," Gout said.
