Iraq crude exports to US rise to 6.4 million barrels in June
Iraq exported 6.433 million barrels of crude oil to the United States in June, up from 5.548 million in May, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The figures showed average daily shipments reached 213,000 barrels in the first week of June, fell to 183,000 in the second, climbed to 212,000 in the third, and declined to 164,000 in the final week.
Overall, Iraq ranked sixth among the top crude suppliers to the US last month, following Canada, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Nigeria.
Among Arab oil exporters, Iraq came second after Saudi Arabia, which delivered 10 million barrels. Libya ranked third with 4.166 million barrels.

This notable decline was announced today, Wednesday (July 30, 2025), by Minister of Planning Mohammed Ali Tamim during the launch of the National Multidimensional Poverty Index Report. The report covered all Iraqi governorates, including those within the Kurdistan Region. Speaking at the launch conference, Tamim highlighted the Iraqi government's commitment to tackling poverty, making it a top priority in its agenda. While Iraq previously saw a reduction in poverty from over 20% to 17.5% in earlier years, the government expanded its study of the phenomenon. This goes beyond simply increasing individual or family incomes, aiming instead to identify fundamental developmental challenges and address societal gaps. The goal is to establish equitable policies that ensure Iraqis enjoy proper education and decent living conditions, free from various forms of deprivation. Tamim emphasized the Ministry of Planning's dedication to providing objective, multidimensional quantitative indicators, a growing international trend for assessing rights. The Ministry collaborated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) to produce this national poverty report. The report leveraged extensive, up-to-date indicators on Iraqi family economic and social conditions from the Household Socio-Economic Survey, forming the basis for this new national multidimensional index at both the Baghdad and governorate levels. The Minister explained that the poverty index report will directly assist in diagnosing essential needs and improving citizens' conditions across governorates, based on reflected geographical and sectoral priorities. He reaffirmed the government's determination to adopt policies and plans for continuously reducing the value of this index. In a pioneering initiative for the Arab region and the world, Iraq will later launch a multidimensional poverty index for women. This aligns with the government's aim to bring about substantial improvements in Iraqi women's health, educational, and living conditions. Tamim also noted that Iraq is a global leader in preparing a multidimensional child poverty index, having released its first report in 2022. The country plans to develop a new child poverty index in 2026, following the recent completion of the seventh round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey. Tamim expressed his appreciation for the significant national efforts contributed by the Ministry of Planning, the Central Statistical Organization, and the Kurdistan Region Statistics Office. These efforts ensure the inclusion of indicators that serve Iraq's development process and contribute to monitoring Sustainable Development Goals, of which poverty alleviation in its various dimensions is a primary objective. He also extended his gratitude to partners at the UNDP Iraq office, the regional office, and the OPHI team for their substantial support in completing these reports and upholding internationally adopted technical standards for measuring multidimensional poverty.

Iraq ranks 51st globally in exports, fifth among Arab nations in 2025
Shafaq News – Baghdad Iraq ranked 51st worldwide and fifth among Arab countries in total exports for 2025, according to data compiled by the international statistics platform Country Cassette. The platform reported a global surge in trade, driven by major exporters around the world. China topped the list of 205 countries with exports valued at $3.38 trillion, primarily consisting of machinery and equipment. The United States followed with $3.05 trillion in exports, led by oil shipments, while Germany ranked third with $2.06 trillion, mainly exporting automobiles. France and the United Kingdom followed in fourth and fifth place, exporting pharmaceuticals and gold, respectively. In the Arab region, the United Arab Emirates led with exports reaching $753 billion, dominated by oil. Saudi Arabia followed with $442.57 billion, also driven by oil. Qatar placed third with $161 billion in gas exports, and Kuwait came fourth with $110.92 billion, primarily in oil.

PM Al-Sudani launches Baghdad facelift

According to a statement by the PM's media office, Al-Sudani declared that the area would be opened to domestic and international investors, with no residential projects allowed. 'This is a strategic location near the shrines of Imams Musa al-Kadhim and Muhammad al-Jawad. It will include a 12,500-square-meter museum documenting the horrors of the dictatorship era.' The Karrada Bridge is part of a broader traffic decongestion plan and will be linked to major highways, including the Mohammed al-Qasim Expressway and the Army Canal Road.
