Chourio drives in winning run in 10th as Brewers win and hand Dodgers their 6th straight loss
The Brewers' only two previous sweeps of the Dodgers came at Los Angeles, in May 2012 and August 2017. The NL West-leading Dodgers have lost six straight.
Milwaukee's Trevor Megill (2-2) struck out Freddie Freeman, Andy Pages and Tommy Edman in order in the top of the 10th.
William Contreras led off the bottom of the 10th with a fly to deep center off Kirby Yates (4-3) that advanced automatic runner Sal Frelick to third. Chourio then singled through the left side of a drawn-in infield for his first career walk-off hit.
WHITE SOX 2, BLUE JAYS 1
CHICAGO (AP) — Adrian Houser tossed seven solid innings, as Chicago stopped Toronto's 10-game winning streak, beating the Blue Jays.
Houser (5-2) won his third straight start. Edgar Quero hit an RBI double and scored in a two-run fourth against Toronto starter Eric Lauer (4-2), and Chicago stopped the Blue Jays one win shy of their franchise record. Toronto has won 11 straight five times, most recently in August 2015.
Houser, who gave up one run and seven hits, has a 1.56 ERA through nine starts. The right-hander has allowed two earned runs in 26 innings over four outings at Rate Field.
PHILLIES 13, GIANTS 0
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Bryce Harper homered and doubled three times, Jesús Luzardo struck out seven and gave up three hits in seven innings, and Philadelphia kept Justin Verlander winless with a rout of San Francisco.
Verlander (0-7), the 42-year-old right-hander in his first year with the Giants, gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits in six innings. The three-time Cy Young Award winner struck out seven and did not issue a walk.
It was his 15th start of the season and his longest previous streak of starts without a win was seven.
The Phillies scored an unearned run in the second before Harper opened the fourth with his 10th homer, taking Verlander to left field.
RAYS 7, TIGERS 3
DETROIT (AP) — First-time All-Star Junior Caminero homered and scored twice and Tampa Bay beat Detroit to end the major league-leading Tigers' winning streak at five games.
Down 3-2 after five innings, the Rays scored four times in the sixth and Caminero led off the seventh with his 22nd homer — a blast over the Detroit bullpen in left.
The Rays broke it open against reliever Chase Lee in the sixth. With two out and a runner on second, Lee replaced Brant Hurter (4-1) and allowed four straight run-scoring hits, including doubles by Ha-Seong Kim and Danny Jansen.
The Tigers loaded the bases in the seventh, but Garrett Cleavinger struck out Riley Greene to end the inning.
Zack Littell (8-7) allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings for the Rays.
YANKEES 9, MARINERS 6
NEW YORK (AP) —
Jazz Chisholm Jr.
homered twice and drove in four runs, and Cam Schlittler won his impressive major league debut as New York beat Seattle.
Jasson Domínguez had three hits, including an RBI single, and Aaron Judge added a two-run double to help the Yankees overcome four Seattle homers. New York has won three straight following its second six-game losing streak since mid-June.
One of the team's top-rated prospects, Schlittler (1-0) was called up from the minors to start in place of
injured Clarke Schmidt.
The 24-year-old right-hander froze big league home run leader Cal Raleigh with a 100 mph fastball for his first strikeout and was charged with three runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Schlittler walked two and struck out seven, ending his outing with another strikeout of Raleigh before leaving to a standing ovation as his parents hugged in the Yankee Stadium stands.
REDS 7, MARLINS 2
CINCINNATI (AP) — Andrew Abbott pitched seven innings of shutout ball a day after being named an All-Star, Elly De La Cruz hit a pair of RBI doubles and Cincinnati beat the Marlins, snapping Miami's franchise-record 11-game road winning streak.
Abbott (8-1) was named to the NL All-Star team on Tuesday, replacing Yoshinobu Yamamoto of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Against Miami, Abbott allowed one run on six hits and two walks while striking out five. The 26-year-old left-hander lost his shutout bid and left the game when Heriberto Hernández hit a two-out RBI single in the eighth. The Reds ended a four-game skid.
The Reds scored three runs in the first and fourth innings with De La Cruz hitting RBI doubles in each. Noelvi Marte hit a two-run homer, his fourth of the season, in the fourth. Will Benson added his eighth homer in the eighth.
Reds manager Terry Francona moved within three wins of his 2,000th career victory as a manager.
RED SOX 10, ROCKIES 2
BOSTON (AP) — Masataka Yoshida went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI in his season debut after undergoing shoulder surgery in October, and Boston completed a three-game sweep with a win over Colorado.
Carlos Narváez, Wilyer Abreu, Romy Gonzalez and Jarren Duran homered for the Red Sox, who matched a season best with their sixth straight win.
Lucas Giolito (6-1) went six scoreless innings, giving up four hits and no walks with six strikeouts.
Narváez led off the second inning with his eighth home run of the season. Abreu added a two-out, two-run homer in the fifth.
Gonzalez hit a two-run homer in the eighth, scoring Yoshida after his ground-rule double, and Jarren Duran added a three-run shot in the inning.
TWINS 4, CUBS 2
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Ryan Jeffers and Carlos Correa each had an RBI as Minnesota scored a pair of first-inning runs for the second straight game in a win over Chicago.
Matt Wallner added a solo homer for the Twins in the third, which proved to be enough for right-hander David Festa (3-3), who went 5 1/3 innings and allowed a pair of runs in the fourth inning.
Minnesota's bullpen tossed 3 2/3 scoreless innings. Closer Jhoan Duran, who was unavailable Tuesday due to illness, earned his 14th save of the season.
The Twins lost All-Star center fielder

to injury. Buxton was hit in the hand in the first inning. He remained in the game initially but came out in the second inning. The Twins announced Buxton suffered a left hand contusion.
Cubs starter Cade Horton (3-3) didn't make it through the fifth inning. He was lifted after 4 2/3 innings and surrendered four runs on six hits. It's the third time in his last four starts he failed to complete five innings.

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Luis Sharpe, a three-time Pro Bowl selection at left tackle for the Cardinals during the franchise's time in both St. Louis and Arizona, has died. He was 65. The Cardinals confirmed Sharpe's death through his family, a team spokesman said Saturday. Sharpe's wife, Tameka Williams-Sharpe, also posted about her husband's passing on social media . The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Sharpe played all 13 of his NFL seasons with the Cardinals, spanning from 1982 to 1994. He made three straight Pro Bowls from 1987 to 1989 and was a second-team All-Pro selection in 1988 and 1990. Sharpe was born in Havana and played in college at UCLA. He started all 189 games he played in the NFL and was one of the team's best players during their transition from St. Louis to Arizona in 1988. England edges Argentina 22-17 with Van Poortvliet's last-minute try
SAN JUAN, Argentina (AP) — Jack van Poortvliet's last-gasp try earned England a 22-17 win over Argentina and another test series victory in Pumas country on Saturday. An England team without 15 British and Irish Lions upheld its record of never losing a series in Argentina since the first tour in 1981. The match was headed for a 17-17 draw until, with a minute left, Argentina spilled possession on its 40-meter line and England counterattacked. Replacement back-rower Guy Pepper burst into the open, ran over or drew the last three defenders and gave backup scrumhalf Van Poortvliet a clear run to the tryline. George Ford couldn't convert from the sideline, missing his first goalkick off the tee in the two tests, but the tour captain was rapt with his young team's success against a Pumas team which beat the Lions three weeks ago. 'We found a way in the end,' Ford said. 'We had a lot of opportunities in the 22 but we just couldn't execute. I like our fight, our togetherness, showing how much we care for each other. We should have scored more tries but the attitude of the group is great.' After a ding-dong first half in which the lead swapped four times, Ford's tying penalty was the only score in the second half until the end. England spent most of the second spell in Argentina's half but the Pumas hustled and scrambled in defense. Overall, England had 17 visits in Argentina's 22 in the match but scored only three tries. But it was just enough after hammering the Pumas 35-12 in La Plata last weekend. Ford's crossfield kick to five-cap wing Tom Roebuck was supported by debutant Luke Northmore to feed one-cap center partner Seb Atkinson for the opening try. Then, while England's Ben Curry was in the sin-bin for head contact, livewire Pumas scrumhalf Simón Benítez Cruz set up Lucio Cinti's try. England fullback Freddie Steward made a good pickup of wing Will Muir's long pass to score, but Steward conceded the lead to Argentina on halftime when a Santiago Carreras chip at the goal post rebounded kindly for Ignacio Mendy to touch down. From one 14 to another, White Sox great Konerko gets gift from Pope Leo XIV in honor of 2005 title
CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox great Paul Konerko got a present from one No. 14 to another in honor of the 20th anniversary of the 2005 World Series championship run — a jersey signed by noted Chicago fan Pope Leo XIV. Cardinal Blase Cupich, the archbishop of Chicago, presented Konerko a jersey with the new pontiff's signature on the back during a ceremony prior to the game against the Cleveland Guardians. It had the six-time All-Star's last name and 'Pope Leo' above the No. 14. Robert Prevost became the first pope from the U.S. in the history of the Catholic Church when he was elected on May 8. The Chicago-born missionary, who took the name Leo XIV, is a White Sox fan. Prevost attended the 2005 World Series opener against Houston in Chicago. He watched from Section 140, Row 19, Seat 2 as the White Sox beat the Astros 5-3 on the way to a four-game sweep and their first title since 1917. In May, the team unveiled a graphic installation near the seat paying tribute to Pope Leo and that moment. The pillar artwork features a waving Pope Leo XIV, along with a picture from the TV broadcast of the future pope sitting with good friend Ed Schmit and his grandson, Eddie. Members of the 2005 team are in Chicago this weekend to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the championship run. The White Sox debuted uniform patches honoring late closer Bobby Jenks, who died last week in Portugal, where he was being treated for stomach cancer. On Friday, the team unveiled a statue of former ace Mark Buehrle.
