WATCH: Shoaib Malik's confrontation with rude fan during National T20 Cup match
However, it was Malik's confrontation after his innings with a rude fan that had social media debating.
Upon completion of his innings, Malik was walking back to the pavilion when a fan asked him to remove his helmet directly. Malik, clearly offended by the tone of the fan, asked if he talked to his family members in the same tone.
After being put in to bat first, Multan struggled for momentum despite a crucial 55 off 42 balls from Muhammad Shahzad. Imam-ul-Haq contributed 41 off 33, while a late flourish from Waseem Akram Jnr (27 off 17) pushed the total to a competitive 147. Hasan Ali led Sialkot's bowling attack with three wickets, while Ali Raza claimed two.
Chasing 148, Sialkot got off to a cautious start before Abdullah Shafique took control with a fluent 57 off 41 balls.
Malik, coming in at No. 4, anchored the innings with a steady hand, striking five fours and a six at a strike rate of 130.30. His experience proved vital as Sialkot completed the chase in 19.3 overs.
However, social media had a mixed reaction to Malik playing. Some fans praised his innings, stating his experience was key to Sialkot's victory.
Where are shoaib malik's haters now. Are they in theirs holes?

Others, however, were more criticial. Some were questioning why Malik was given the opportunity in place of a youngster and what impact it might have on Pakistan's cricket moving forward.

PCB name squad for Tri-Series, Asia Cup
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday announced a 17-member national squad for the upcoming UAE T20 Tri-Series and the Asia Cup 2025. The tri-series, featuring Pakistan, Afghanistan, and hosts UAE, will be played in Sharjah from August 29 to September 7. Following that, the Asia Cup 2025 is scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi and Dubai from September 9 to 28. All-rounder Salman Ali Agha has been retained as captain of the squad. Senior players Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf are part of the lineup, while youngsters Saim Ayub, Khushdil Shah, and Hussain Talat have also been included. The squad further features Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and Mohammad Haris, along with Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Hasan Ali, and Hasan Nawaz. Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, and Sufiyan Muqeem complete the squad. During the press conference following the squad announcement, Pakistan's white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, explained the reasons for retaining pacer Salman Mirza in the squad for the upcoming events. "We have retained Salman Mirza because of his performance in Bangladesh," Hesson said. The 31-year-old impressed with his outstanding bowling performance, emerging as the leading wicket-taker in the series. He claimed seven wickets across all three matches at an impressive economy rate of 5.21. Pakistan squad for Tri-Series and Asia Cup 2025: Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Salman Ali Agha (C), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (WK), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr., Sahibzada Farhan, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem. Hesson issues Afg warning Pakistan's white-ball head coach Mike Hesson has cautioned against taking Afghanistan lightly in the upcoming Asia Cup, stressing that their spin attack and recent form make them one of the most dangerous opponents. During the press conference, he further explained the importance of Pakistan's batting depth, particularly the ability of the middle order to counter spin in subcontinental conditions. "Afghanistan were semifinalists in the previous T20 World Cup. They are a top sideespecially when you play them in Sharjah," Hesson said. "Not only can our middle order rotate strike against spin, but they can also apply pressure, which is going to be vital. We're not taking any of these games lightly. In terms of preparation for the Asia Cup, we honestly couldn't ask for anything better," he added. The coach noted that playing in Sharjah will present a major challenge for Pakistan's batting group, particularly against spin, but insisted that it will serve as an ideal test before the T20 World Cup. "In the Asia Cup, we are going to face some of the best spin-bowling sides, and this will be a great opportunity ahead of the T20 World Cup. Playing in Sharjah will be a real challenge against spin, and that's why our middle order is so critical," he explained. Hesson also addressed Pakistan's preparations, pointing to recent series as evidence of the team's growing consistency. "We have won six out of nine matches, with one of our losses coming on the very last ball. There haven't been many changes in our squad. Right now, our focus is on winning and maintaining consistency, and the team is playing good cricket in T20s," he said. He also threw his weight behind captain Babar Azam, saying the star batter is working hard to improve his strike-rate and ability against spin. "There's no doubt Babar has been asked to improve in some areas, particularly against spin and in terms of his strike-rate. Those are aspects I know he's working very hard on at the moment," he said. "A player like Babar also has the opportunity to play in the BBL and showcase improvements in those areas of T20 cricket. He's simply too good of a player for us not to consider." Hesson praised other key performers such as Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, and Fakhar Zaman, saying all three had fully earned their places in the squad. "The players we have have performed exceptionally well. For example, Sahibzada Farhan played six games and won three Man of the Match awards. You want players who, when they score runs, have a huge impact on the outcome of the gameand that's exactly what we ask from Saim and Fakhar as well," the coach said.

PCB still paying CC mentors
All five mentors pose with the captains of the Champions Cup sides. Photo. PCB Despite the termination of the mentors' positions, four former cricketers are still being paid their salaries. According to details, last year the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed five former national team players — Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, and Saqlain Mushtaq — as mentors for a new project, the Champions Cup. They were each paid a monthly salary of PKR 5 million. However, in recent months, the decision was made to discontinue the Champions Cup, meaning the mentors were no longer needed. Shoaib Malik had already resigned, but the other four former cricketers continue to receive their monthly salaries. Sources revealed that the PCB has sent termination letters to Saqlain Mushtaq and Waqar Younis. However, under their contracts, they are entitled to four months' salary, during which time the board may still assign them work. Sarfaraz Ahmed and Misbah-ul-Haq have been retained by the board on a permanent basis, but so far, they have not been given any new responsibilities. Sources also said that there is a possibility of their monthly salaries being reduced, and they have already been verbally informed about this. It is worth noting that all five mentors had faced continuous criticism for receiving PKR 5 million per month. Initially, the PCB waited for the mentors to resign voluntarily, but under the contract, early termination entitled them to four months' salary (PKR 20 million), so no one left their positions. Consequently, the authorities decided to terminate two of them while retaining the services of the other two permanently. Central contracts overhaul The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to introduce major changes to the new central contracts for players, with significant reshuffling likely in Category D, sources revealed on Saturday. According to sources, discussions over the new contracts have entered the final stages, with several players set to be dropped and a number of new players likely to be included. While some players could also be handed central contracts for the first time. Consultations have already been held with coaches, the director of high performance, the finance department and the International cricket department. Sources confirmed that cricketers no longer part of any of the three formats will almost certainly be excluded. Among those unlikely to cut are Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Huraira, Haseebullah, Usman Khan and Mohammad Ali. On the other hand, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf and Fakhar Zaman are expected to be awarded central contracts. The names of Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz and Sahibzada Farhan have also been under discussion, with their inclusion a possibility. The current three-year financial model for central contracts is now in its final year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will announce the new contracts officially after receiving approval from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. For the unversed, Pakistan's squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the ACC Men's Asia Cup 2025 is likely to be comprised of 18 players, three more than the usual number. According to the details, the national men's selection committee has started initial deliberation for the contingent and will now consult with T20I captain Salman Ali Agha and head coach Mike Hesson, who returned to the country earlier today after the white-ball series against West Indies. Sources further told that after the consultation between the selection committee, captain Agha and coach Hesson, the list of shortlisted will be sent for approval from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi, with the formal announcement expected in the next two to three days. The insiders further revealed that the Pakistan squad for the upcoming assignments may be comprised of 18 players, with emerging pacers Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal likely to be called up.
