Russo off to Villa! Alessia's brother Giorgio is Love Island bombshell
Giorgio Russo has joined the ITV2 reality show, based in a Majorcan villa, as one of four new 'bombshells'.
Alessia has begun preparations for the European Championship, with England taking on France in their first game on July 5, but Giorgio may not be able to see his sister in action as he begins his journey on the TV show.

The Lionesses have gathered at St George's Park for their Euros camp and most of them found out the news on Monday morning.
Le Tissier admitted she does not watch the show but will tune in to see Alessia's brother.
She said: 'That's the only question I've been asked so far! I walked into SGP (St George's Park) this morning and Alessia just went like that (showed the phone about her brother heading into the villa).
'I was so shocked. I was so buzzing for Giorgio. He's such a lovely guy and such a great family, so hopefully he does well out there and he enjoys himself.
'It's cool. I haven't watched it yet, but I'm going to watch it now.'
Giorgio was over in Portugal to cheer his sister on in the Champions League final as Arsenal beat Barcelona to lift the trophy but will not be present to do the same in Switzerland if he lasts long enough on the show.
Alessia's Arsenal team-mate Beth Mead said all the players will be sitting together to watch the show.
Mead told Sky Sports: 'I was excited for him. I love Giorgio, he's a good boy and I'm looking forward to seeing what he gets up to in the villa.
'We're all going to sit together tonight and watch the 'bombshell' bombshell, so excited for that one.'
Another Lionesses team-mate, Grace Clinton, joked about Giorgio missing the Euros.
She said: 'I will be watching, I will definitely be watching that.
'We're going to have it on in the meeting room tonight. I'm only joking. No, it's exciting, it's funny.
'I think Alessia finds it funny. He clearly won't be coming to Switzerland I take it?'

Fresh Gyokeres offer prepared Arsenal are preparing a fresh offer for Viktor Gyokeres as they turn their attention back to the Swedish international. Sporting Lisbon rejected the Gunners' opening £55million bid for the 27-year-old striker. That has not deterred the Gunners though, with Correio da Manhã reporting that the Premier League side are 'preparing to make another offer'. It is claimed that boss Mikel Arteta is pushing for a deal to be completed in time for the club's Asia tour. The first match of that tour comes on 23 July against AC Milan in Singapore. That has started a month-long clock for sporting director Andrea Berta to reach an agreement with his counterparts in Lisbon. Zinchenko exit closes in Oleksandr Zinchenko's exit from Arsenal is gathering pace, with AC Milan lining up the Ukrainian as their replacement for Theo Hernandez. The Frenchman is expected to be sold to the Saudi Pro League. According to Corriere Dello Sport, Milan sporting director Igli Tare has had 'contact' with intermediaries who are managing Zinchenko's exit. The Rossoneir are hoping to complete a deal worth under £20m for the left-back. Zinchenko is said to be 'open' to moving to the San Siro with only his salary demands being a potential obstacle. But the 28-year-old representatives remain in discussions with the Serie A giants, though Hernandez's exit must come first. Barcola bid rejected Arsenal have seen their hopes of signing Bradley Barcola dented after Paris Saint-Germain rejected an enquiry from the Gunners. The 22-year-old had lost his place in Luis Enrique's side following the January arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. That led to suggestions that he could be on the move this summer in search of game-time. Arsenal were one of the teams to grow interested in the Frenchman, but L'Equipe report he is instead likely to remain at the Parc des Princes. The Red Devils have decided Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo's price-tag is too prohibitive. The Cherries wanted in the region of £70million for the attacker. The Gunners have been in talks for Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Chances of the north London side opting for Gyokeres' signature appear to be increasing however. Arsenal are growing frustrated over the contract that Sesko's camp are demanding during talks, while Gyokeres' preferred destination is said to be Arsenal. Sesko, 22, would cost around £70m which Arsenal are believed to be willing to pay. Contract demands are proving more problematic having exceeded their expectations however.

New Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh ‘relishing challenge' of overhauling Celtic

However, Cavenagh, fronting an American consortium that took control of the Ibrox club earlier this month, is confident they can bridge the gap in Glasgow and, over time, assert the Light Blues as Scotland's leading force. 'We relish that challenge,' said Cavenagh, facing the media at Ibrox on Monday just hours after an EGM in the city in which their immediate plans were given the all-clear by shareholders. 'We are impatient, we are competitive and so we look forward to the challenge.' At today's General Meeting held today at the DoubleTree Hilton in Glasgow, shareholders voted in favour of all proposed resolutions, to support the club's future growth and investment plans. — Rangers Football Club (@RangersFC) June 23, 2025 Pressed further on the scale of the task Rangers face as they bid to usurp a Celtic side thriving under Brendan Rodgers, Cavenagh said: 'We think it is achievable or we wouldn't be here. We don't think it will be easy. 'It is not going to happen instantaneously but we will strive to improve the on-field performance and we will continue to build the infrastructure of the club. If we didn't think we could win we wouldn't be here. We are here because we think we can. 'There is real work to be done, I think everyone is aware of that. Paraag (Marathe, vice-chairman) and I are two of the least patient people you will meet and we are also incredibly competitive so we share our supporters' sense of urgency. We are in with both feet today and we will move this forward as fast as we can.' Cavenagh – sure-footed and measured throughout his first briefing with Scottish journalists – outlined his aim of establishing Rangers as Champions League regulars. 'Champions League is the goal we are trying to get to every year,' he said. 'It is important because it brings more revenue. It will always be our benchmark. 'It is not as if we are banking on that and if it doesn't happen then there is some sort of a problem. That is not the case at all. But it is our goal. 'As we increase revenue, which comes from the Champions League, then we get to re-invest that in the club. That is why it is the goal from both a sporting perspective and the revenue model perspective.' While the new owners are intent on ensuring financial sustainability, they were given the green light on Monday to get the ball rolling on their revival of the club with a £20million investment. '£20m is the amount of primary capital that we are putting in,' said Cavenagh. 'We have been careful to not say we won't put more in and to not say we will put more in. 'When we think about the amount of capital that is needed, we look at it through three lenses. The first is what impact will it have and we think £20m into the club – and again, we're not being specific about where the £20m is going – we think £20m is the right amount this summer. 'And the other two lenses that we look though are FSR (UEFA's Financial Sustainability Regulations) and making sure we are running the club in a sustainable way. 'We are not looking for what I think of as the sugar high – come in spend some money, sign some players and try to win something and then you have the sugar crash that comes from that.' One of the new owners' first big calls was to appoint Russell Martin as head coach earlier this month. 'There were four criteria that we looked at for head coach,' said Cavenagh. 'One, somebody that would coach what we think is the right style of play or game model. Two, someone who would build the culture and the way we think it needs to be built. 'Three, someone who will develop talent. And four, someone who will win matches. Russell was the standout across all of those metrics, unanimously among our team.'
