Wildfire in California prompts evacuations in multiple counties
LOS ANGELES (ALETIHAD)A wildfire erupted in central California over the weekend quickly spread to over 1,000 acres (4.04 square kilometres) as of Monday and prompted evacuations in multiple counties.According to the Cal Fire, the blaze, dubbed Silver Fire, was ignited at 2:11 pm local time Sunday in Inyo County near the state border with Nevada and quickly grew to 1,000 acres in six hours.On Monday morning, the fire spread to 1,250 acres (5.06 square kilometres) with zero containment, Cal Fire said, noting strong winds and gusts reaching up to 35 mph (56.3 kmph) fuelled the fire, which "created hazardous conditions, grounding some firefighting aircraft and complicating containment efforts.""The winds are very erratic," Cal Fire spokesperson Chloe Castillo said, "One minute they're pushing north, the next they're going east."
Evacuations were ordered for about 800 homes in Laws of Inyo County, Chalfant in Mono County and the White Mountain Estates neighbourhoods, and a stretch of about 50 kilometres of US Highway 6 was closed.

NCM issues weather update for July 25-28
24 July 2025 17:49 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD)The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a weather advisory regarding conditions across the country from Friday, July 25, to Monday, July 28, NCM forecasts that during this period, the region will be influenced by the movement of the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) from the south. Additionally, low-pressure systems moving from the south, combined with moist air from the Arabian Sea and the Sea of Oman, will lead to changes in the weather. With rising daytime temperatures and the presence of mountains in the east, we can expect local cloud formation in the eastern and southern areas. Expected Weather: There is a possibility of cloud formation that may bring rain of varying intensities, possibly accompanied by small hail, along with occasional lightning and thunder in some eastern and southern regions. These conditions may extend to other areas as well. Winds:Winds are expected to blow from the southeast to northeast at a moderate speed, becoming strong at times with the clouds. Watch: Moderate to heavy rains lash parts of the UAE on Sunday
