TBT 2025 Championship Recap: Aftershocks Top Eberlein Drive To Claim Title
The Basketball Tournament TBT 2025 Championship Recap: Aftershocks Top Eberlein Drive To Claim Title Published Aug. 3, 2025 6:49 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link The Basketball Tournament has officially crowned a new champion, with Aftershocks (Wichita State's alumni team) walking away with the $1 million winner-take-all prize on Sunday after defeating Eberlein Drive by double digits. Here's a recap of Sunday night's TBT action! Aftershocks 82, Eberlein Drive 67 Aftershocks was the first and last team to score on Sunday en route to winning the 2025 TBT title. It jumped out to a 12-point lead in the first quarter with ease, but Eberlein Drive fired back with a 12-0 run to knot things up at 18-all late in the frame. It was a one-point game, 21-20, heading into the second quarter, where Eberlein Drive took its first lead of the game. It was short-lived, however, as Aftershocks went on a 12-0 run of its own to get back in the driver's seat. It was a back-and-forth battle to close out the first half. Aftershocks took a nine-point lead into the break, 46-37. Eberlein Drive kept things close to start the second half but was never able to find a rhythm. It pulled within five points, 55-50, with roughly four minutes left in the third quarter but never truly threatened Aftershocks. Both teams combined for only 13 points in the fourth quarter before the Elam Ending — the tournament's alternate ending, in which the game clock is shut off in the fourth quarter and a target score is set. The first team to 82 would win it all. After a hard-fought final frame, Marcus Keene sunk a free throw for Aftershocks to seal the win. ADVERTISEMENT Keene's game-winner marked his seventh during an Elam Ending, passing Jamil Wilson (six) for the most in TBT history. Keene, who was named TBT 2025 MVP, led all players with 22 points on 50% shooting. What's more, he left the door open for a potential return to the tournament next year if Aftershocks participate again. Junathaen Watson led Eberlein Drive with 14 points. At long last, Cameron Young secures first PGA Tour victory with Wyndham Championship win
It took seven runner-up finishes, 94 tournament starts and four years of competing full-time on the PGA Tour. But somehow, the manner in which Cameron Young finally captured his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday felt strangely fitting. At the Wyndham Championship, the final event of the PGA Tour's regular season, Young beat his nearest competitor by six shots. Advertisement Young, a force on tour from the moment he emerged in the pro game, separated himself from the field in Greensboro, N.C., creating room for a few late mistakes. Before this week, Young's second-place finish count of seven was the most by any player on tour without a win since 1983. The 2022 Rookie of the Year and runner-up at the 150th Open at St. Andrews, Young will no longer be identified as the ballstriker who had all the chops but no wins to show for it. The 28-year-old rose from No. 40 to No. 16 in the FedEx Cup with his maiden PGA Tour title at Sedgefield Country Club, down the road from his alma mater, Wake Forest. 'I've been waiting for it for a while,' Young said to CBS. 'I never really thought I'd be that emotional about it, but it's the end of my fourth season, and I've had my chances, never quite like this. I wasn't going to let it get away from me today.' Coming out on Sunday with a five-shot lead over Nico Echavarria, Young's nerves only showed themselves momentarily before his front-nine tear commenced. Young bogeyed the opening hole but then proceeded to birdie the next five, reaching four-under for the day and 24-under for the tournament, leading by nine shots at one point. He made 62 feet of putts in that stretch alone, and made his first par of Sunday's round on No. 7. Young came in with a 2-over par 37 on the back nine. He bogeyed the 16th and 17th holes and parred the last, finishing the tournament at 22-under with a final-round 68. Young grew up in Scarborough, N.Y., frequenting iconic northeast courses such as Sleepy Hollow Country Club, where his father, David, served as the head professional for 20 years. Sleepy Hollow members gathered for a watch party of Young's maiden victory at the club on Sunday evening. Young's win in North Carolina puts him in a category of Americans who have played their way into Ryder Cup contention as of late. He joins Chris Gotterup, winner of the Scottish Open, as a name who will now be more firmly in the conversation to be picked by captain Keegan Bradley to compete at Bethpage Black in late September. In 2017, Young won the New York State Open at Bethpage Black — the first amateur to win the event. He set the course record, which has since been beaten, at 64. Advertisement In 2023, Young was left off the 12-man U.S. team despite finishing the season at No. 9 on the American points standings. 'I set out the year to give our captain no choice, and I don't know if I'm in a position to do that or not, but it would take some really good golf between now and then,' Young said on Saturday. 'But if I'm in the question, that's been a big goal of mine and I'd love to put myself there anyway.'
