Simone Inzaghi still tells his kids about Celtic as 'special' Hoops leave both Champions League Final managers stunned

Both managers in tonight's showpiece final have had plenty of nice words to say about Celtic It's a Champions League Final for the ages in Munich – but if you listen to both managers, they might rather it was taking place at Celtic Park. Simone Inzaghi's Inter take on Luis Enrique's PSG at the Allianz Arena as two of Europe's best sides officially bring the curtain down on season 2024/25. ‌ The Italians dumped Enrique's former team Barcelona in one of the all-time great semi-finals while French champions PSG sweeped three of the Premier League's best in Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal to reach this stage. ‌ It wasn't so long ago though that each of them were sitting in the dugout at Parkhead. Back in 2016, Enrique brought his Barca side to Glasgow for a Champions League clash and they were confident – having put seven past the Hoops in Spain. The damage this time wasn't as devastating, a Lionel Messi double the extent of it as Barca picked up a comfortable 2-0 win. ‌ Speaking ahead of it, Enrique said: Luis Enrique: 'It will be special because they are a great club with a spectacular atmosphere and we must enjoy it to the fullest and give the best possible account of ourselves. "We will be happy to go to one of the best stadiums in Europe in terms of atmosphere knowing that their fans will have a great sporting image and offer their full support to the team.' Inzaghi was even more gushing in 2019 when his Lazio side were gunned down in the Europa League. ‌ And speaking after the game when Christopher Jullien's goal gave Celtic a late 2-1 win, he couldn't have been more effusive in his praise. The gushing boss said: "The Celtic game is a match I will be telling my children about for many years. In fact, I actually brought my oldest child with me because I knew how good it would be. "Yes, we lost to Celtic, but they are a quality team who play at a very high pace and to a very good standard. There's nothing to be ashamed of." ‌ You can get all the news you need on our dedicated Rangers and Celtic pages, and sign up to our newsletters to make sure you never miss a beat throughout the season. Celtic and Rangers face growing competition to sign £10m-rated star, 23, available for knockdown fee

He's a former youth international and can be snapped up on the cheap at just 23 TRANSFER TALK Celtic and Rangers face growing competition to sign £10m-rated star, 23, available for knockdown fee Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) EVERY other summer there is at least one player who's linked with both Rangers and Celtic - and so the battle begins. Go back to Nacho Novo in 2004. Or Luis Palma more recently in 2023. And who could forget Scott Brown being courted by both sides of Glasgow in 2007? Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Tyrhys Dolan will be a hot property this transfer window Credit: Getty This year the man who could be the subject of a similar fight is Tyrhys Dolan. The Blackburn Rovers winger has been valued at around £10m but he has ran his contract down at Ewood Park and will be available for a fraction of that. Dolan, 23, made his pro debut with Rovers in 2020 and the Championship club will be a due a compensation fee if he signs elsewhere. Similar rules saw Celtic snap up Moussa Dembele from Fulham on the cheap and Rangers followed a similar route to lure Joe Aribo from Charlton. We told you earlier this month that both Old Firm were tracking Dolan. At that point there was still a chance (however slim) that he would sign an extension at Blackburn. But now that he's all set to leave, it's perhaps no surprise that the list of clubs interested in him has grown. Norwich-based news outlet The Pink Un is reporting that Dolan is on the summer transfer wish list for Norwich City. The Canaries are still waiting to officially unveil new boss Liam Manning but with Rangers yet to have finalised their next manager, it would appear Celtic may have a head start in the race. Claims down south have also suggested Middlesbrough as a potential destination but local reports say those are just rumours at the moment. Rangers fans react as 49ers takeover completed Dolan scored seven goals and provided six assists in 47 games for Blackburn this season. The former England Under-20 international was reportedly on the list of wingers Celtic were considering around the time they convinced Jota to return. But a cruciate ligament injury will keep him out of action until the New Year and with James Forrest not getting any younger, reinforcements will be needed. Rangers will soon part with £4.5m to make the signing of Oscar Cortes permanent but he has struggled with injuries since the day he first arrived at Ibrox. The expiration of Vaclav Cerny's loan deal also leaves whoever takes over at Gers needing to replace the goal threat he offered. Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres transfer bid suffers setback as champions join chase

Viktor Gyokeres is set to be one of the most sought-after players in football this summer as Arsenal and Manchester United chase his signature, but now Napoli have joined the race to sign the Swedish hitman Italian champions Napoli are ready to battle it out with Arsenal for Sporting Lisbon's £67million-rated striker Viktor Gyokeres. Coach Antonio Conte has told the club to make a move for the 26-year-old former Brighton, Swansea and Coventry forward, who has transformed himself into one of Europe's most prolific goalscorer. Conte is in a position of strength after leading Napoli to the serie A title and then turning down an approach from Juventus for his services. He wants Gyokeres to lead his attack in the Champions League next season. ‌ Napoli could now take advantage of Arsenal's indecision on whether to pursue the Swedish International or RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. ‌ The Gunners are finally ready to arm manager Mikel Arteta with a proven goalscorer after finishing second in the Premier League for three seasons in succession. And with reports that the London club are leaning towards Slovakian forward Sesko, that has opened up a window of opportunity for others when it comes to Gyokeres. Sporting made it clear this week that they will not accept anything less than their £67million valuation for a player who scored an incredible 57 goals in 49 games this season for club and country. ‌ Conte already has Romelu Lukaku as a quality forward option in Naples. The former Chelsea star netted 14 times in the Italian top flight and was their top scorer, but the Belgian needs more competition up front. Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is also a huge admirer of Gyokeres after working with him in Portugal. ‌ United would need to sell players first to come up with the cash - which is why the £100million interest from the Saudi Pro League in Bruno Fernandes has caused such a stir at Old Trafford. United legend has already urged his old club to take the money if they receive a bid in that region, knowing it could help the Red Devils add a few more signings amid their financial restrictions. The club are desperate for more forward options after watching Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund score seven Premier League goals between them this season. United were hoping to lure Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap to Old Trafford this summer, but he has snubbed them in favour of joining Chelsea.
