'I'll die on that hill': WWE star reveals how she fought against bosses' plans
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Chelsea Green has revealed how she stood her ground to make sure her biggest night ended the right way. The 34-year-old wrestler is one of the big names showcased in Netflix's new WWE Unreal docu-series, and in one episode viewers will see the debate surrounding the crowing of the first ever Women's United States Champion at Saturday Night's Main Event. Chelsea was set to win the historic match in December 2024, but the documentary shows how producers – who help wrestlers plan their matches – wanted her to win with a top rope leg drop. However, she star pushed back, insisting she should get her big moment by using her signature Unprettier move. She exclusively told Metro: 'I literally did a leg drop and peed my pants while we were rehearsing it. But that – I'm not doing that in front of my friends, my family, my fans, everyone watching, you know? Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Speaking up like that is out of character for Chelsea, as normally she's happy to 'run the play' and do whatever she's told. 'Honestly, no, I don't speak up that often. I usually just like to run the play. Whatever they want to do,' she admitted. 'However, there are certain moments in my career where I am willing to die on that hill, and that was one of them. 'This could quite possibly be the tippy top of my career, and I'm not going out doing someone else's finisher or doing a move I don't feel comfortable with!' It meant a lot to Chelsea, but the consummate professional insisted she would 'never' have gone off script if her bosses had decided otherwise. 'I've never been one of those people to call an audible because unless something goes wrong in the ring, I feel like it's taking advantage,' she explained. 'I never want to take advantage of my coworkers. I never want to take advantage of my producers. They trust me.' As Unreal shows, there are a lot of moving parts to WWE, and anything can go wrong. Recently, Chelsea was accidentally counted out during a match on SmackDown, and she's admitted it was her fault. 'If I do something wrong, I come back and I immediately put my hands up, 'I messed up', and that's what I did in that moment,' she recalled. 'I stayed in character, and the minute I got to [Gorilla Position, backstage], it's like, 'I am so sorry I messed up. That was on me. I was out there not paying attention.' The referee was doing his job. I cannot fault anyone for that!' Mistakes like that are part of wrestling, and it didn't hurt Chelsea's standing as weeks later she found herself facing Hall of Famer Nikki Bella in her first match since 2018. 'It's nerve wracking because we've been waiting for this for years,' she said. 'We have been dying to see Nikki Bella make this beautiful comeback after a neck surgery, and after being the longest reigning Divas Champion. There was just so much riding on it.' It was a lot for Chelsea too, who had been pitching to face Nikki at WrestleMania earlier this year, but ended up missing out on the show altogether. 'Maybe this is big headed of me to say, but I think most of us wanted to see the [Women's] US title at WrestleMania in a match,' she shrugged. 'I pushed a lot for that title to be on WrestleMania. But unfortunately, we have so much talent, we have so many titles, we only have a certain amount of hours [the roster] can wrestle.' Her moment with Nikki came after Liv Morgan's unfortunate injury forced WWE into a scramble for creative changes, the likes of which are seen playing out in WWE Unreal. 'I never wanted to see Liv go down the way she did, but when that happened, that did allow me to step in and fill that place,' she pointed out. 'I can hang with the best of them, and Nikki Bella is the best of them.' Chelsea feels like she's being listened to backstage, after years of 'constantly pitching absolutely ridiculous ideas'. 'They really have taken a lot of my suggestions to heart. And it may not go to TV exactly how I pitched it,' she admitted. 'But it goes to TV in one way or another.' More Trending Now, she's excited for WWE Unreal to show everyone the truth about her position in the company. 'I don't hold back. I've always been very upfront and honest with my life, with my marriage, with building my home, being released, coming back,' she said. 'For me, pulling the curtain back on who I truly am and how I work at WWE didn't feel all that crazy.' View More » All five episodes of WWE Unreal are coming to Netflix on July 29. Bingo hall in Peterborough draws in new generation of players
Two eighteen-year-olds said "bingo was not just for older people" as they turned their hand to the game in the last bingo centre in the county. Lucy Lonnen and Alesksa Svencika, both 18, said they always wanted to play bingo when they legally could and visited the Buzz Bingo hall in site has become Cambridgeshire's last dedicated bingo centre following the closure of Winners Bingo hall in Shuttleworth, 48, the manager of Buzz Bingo, said the game was "evolving" and would "survive long into the future". Ms Svencika said: "One of the first things I wanted to do when I turned 18 was experience real live bingo. "I am quite competitive and I found my eyes couldn't scan the card quickly enough - but I think I got the hang of it."The National Bingo Game Association said a combination of the Covid pandemic, energy prices and the impact of the recent Budget on employment costs have "made it difficult for smaller independent bingo clubs to survive".Ms Svencika added she was surprised that her first visit to play bingo was free as a taster."I'm not worried about getting hooked on it - it's not that addictive."I would only come with friends for a social time out," she added. Mr Shuttleworth has been involved in the industry for more than 25 years."We see bingo as low cost, low risk, people can spend a couple of hours here for £6 - it's good value," he felt the game had a future, despite the county losing some bingo venues recently."We are evolving, changing and investing and can see some green shoots, it is a bit like the pub industry, which is also facing challenges."It can be an important part of the community giving people a chance meet with friends, others like to come out for a night of fun, have something to eat and drink and escape the real world for a bit," he added. Margaret Heaney, 74, plays bingo at the venue with her 45-year-old daughter Jo Heaney."I think online bingo is affecting numbers, it is not as busy as it used to be with my friends, it must be hard to make a profit," she Heaney said in 1971 her late mother scooped £1,000 at another Peterborough bingo hall, which has since closed. The winnings allowed her to buy a house in the city, which was later sold for £250,000."I have played since I was 18, it was to be a great way to meet up with old friends but not so many come these days," she said."Bingo hasn't changed much over the years, the most I've ever won was about £80. "I can't play online as I don't have a computer or smartphone. "There does seem to be more younger people coming to play, it does appeal to all ages and both sexes," she added. Miles Baron, from the National Bingo Game Association, said: "It is a sad day when any bingo club closes, they are often an important part of the local community and those social connections formed by members are often irreplaceable."Our heart goes out to the members, employees and owners of the Winners Bingo club in Wisbech." For the victor - a chance to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam 2025, and the loser? Exhaustion. But who will be in the gauntlet this evening, what time is WWE Raw on in the UK tonight and what happened to Seth Rollins on Saturday Night's Main Event? The fallout from Evolution 2025 will no doubt be felt during this evening's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, but perhaps the only match announced will have tongues wagging. After Gunther successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Bill Goldberg at Saturday Night's Main Event, a new challenger is set to be revealed through a gruelling gauntlet match with several of the company's biggest names vying for their shot at SummerSlam 2025. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad But will we find out any more about Seth Rollins' current involvement in the WWE product going forwards? The current Money In The Bank holder was thought to be the more likely candidate to take on 'The Ring General' at the next big PLE – but after what unfolded on Saturday, there seems to be a 'scramble' regarding what to do going forwards. More about that below. So, who is going to face off for a chance at a title shot come SummerSlam 2025, and why are plans involving Seth Rollins currently in the air? Here's your preview and UK start time for this evening's WWE Monday Night Raw on July 14, 2025. What has been announced for the July 14 2025 episode of WWE Raw? A new number one contender for the World Heavyweight Championship will be decided on this evening's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw on Netflix. | WWE Gauntlet match to determine the number 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025 Though only one match as of writing has been confirmed for WWE Raw this evening, the stakes couldn't be any higher as five men compete for the chance of challenging Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025. The Gauntlet Match format means two competitors start, and when one is eliminated, another enters, continuing until only one man remains, meaning that not only is immense skill required but also incredible stamina and strategic thinking. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad After his victory over Seth Rollins at Saturday Night's Main Event this past weekend, LA Knight is one of the contenders taking part in tonight's gauntlet, with CM Punk, Bron Breakker, former champion Jey Uso and Penta all have a chance for a shot at the coveted title on the Raw brand. What time is WWE Raw starting in the United Kingdom this week? The WWE is once again broadcasting during its regular time, meaning a late one/early one for fans. Netflix will air the episode live from 1am BST on July 15 2025, with on-demand repeats available shortly after broadcast. Is Seth Rollins really injured after Saturday Night's Main Event? Perhaps the biggest story emanating out of a busy weekend of wrestling for the WWE is the injury that occurred to Seth Rollins during his match with LA Knight at Saturday Night's Main Event. During the match, Rollins attempted to perform a springboard moonsault to land on his feet in the middle of the ring. But after completing the move, he quickly started showing concern for his knee - leading to what wrestling commentators believe was finishing the match early 'on the fly.' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Speaking about the potential injury during the post-WWE Evolution press conference, COO Paul 'Triple H' Levesque commented that Rollins' injury is 'a little bit inconclusive' and the company are expected to get an answer by today (July 14 2025.) He advised that an MRI will be undertaken 'and hope for the best,' adding that after that information is obtained, they'll 'see where we can go with that.' That has not stopped some maintaining this is part of an elaborate 'work' (storyline), however wrestling fans are concerned due to Rollins having previously been out for an extended amount of time after injuring his knee previously. Rollins suffered a significant knee injury (torn ACL, MCL, and medial meniscus) at a live event in November 2015, which forced him to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and miss WrestleMania 32 in 2016, prompting the concerns from wrestling fans about his current status.
