The Met Office said parts of England are set to enjoy highs of up to 28C on Friday, with most of the country set for temperatures in the low to mid-20s.
'The best of the sunshine, the sunniest skies, will be across more central, southern, south-eastern England,' said meteorologist Alex Burkill.
'It was pretty wet here across parts of East Anglia, London and the South East yesterday. It's [now] a much drier, brighter picture.
'The sunniest skies, though, will be across some more central parts. And it's here that we are going to get the highest temperatures, [up to] 26 and 27. Maybe 28 Celsius.
'Even elsewhere, yes it's a few degrees lower than this, but if you do catch any of those bright sunny spells, temperatures should get into the low, possibly mid-20s for quite a few places.
'So feeling pretty warm, as you would expect at this time of year.'
There have been three heatwaves already this summer, with temperatures climbing to almost 36C in Kent at the start of the month. In April, the UK also enjoyed a record amount of sunshine.
But the jet stream that has brought on this weather has since dipped southwards, pushing areas of low pressure towards British shores, and sudden downpours have followed.
Hosepipe bans, however, have remained in place after the driest spring in over a century.
Moving into the weekend, an area of high pressure is expected to extend from the Azores archipelago in the mid-Atlantic and could influence the weather in the UK.
It could mean a more dry weather and sunshine, especially in the south and west of the UK. There should also be fewer showers.
But a heatwave is not expected to hit the UK this weekend. Temperatures will climb but top out in the mid-20s.
For Saturday's forecast, the Met Office wrote: 'Cloud and outbreaks still moving slowly and erratically southeastwards across England, turning heavy across southeast England later.
'Elsewhere sunny spells and a scattering of showers. Near average temperatures.'
They added: 'Sunny spells and showers on Sunday. Mostly dry Monday, with sunny spells. Breezy with showery rain in the northwest on Tuesday, dry elsewhere. Temperatures around average, warm in the south.'

Residents across nearly half the country were issued with a code red warning, the highest level. National Fire Service chief Alexander Djartov told reporters that 236 wildfires were burning, many fanned by strong winds. The government had asked EU partners for help, he added, and aircraft were expected from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Hungary and Sweden later Sunday. In the southwestern Strumyani region, overnight blazes forced firefighters to retreat. They were reinforced on Sunday by soldiers. Dozens of people fled their homes in the western Tran region as flames threatened villages near the Serbian border. Parts of Athens in Greece have been evacuated after more than 50 wildfires broke out in 24 hours. People living in the suburb of Kryoneri, around 12.5 miles (20 km) northeast of the Greek capital, were told to move to safe areas on Saturday. At least five people, most of them elderly with respiratory problems, have been treated in hospital for burns or smoke inhalation.

In recent weeks the weather has remained largely warm but it has also been mixed with some torrential downpours. And now maps show a return to dry and sunny conditions in early August with high pressure expected to build - especially across southern areas of the country. Maps from WXCHARTS weather maps have turned a deep red colour indicating that millions will soon bask in balmy weather. The mercury is set to soar on Tuesday August 5 with temperatures forecast to be in the high 20Cs by midday. Large swathes of southern and central England are likely to experience a significant temperature spike. At 12pm on August 5, London as well as Surrey, Cornwall and Devon will already see highs of 26C. While the rest of south west and south east England are expected to see temperatures peak at 25C. The east of England and south Wales will also see 25C whilst the Midlands will be a degree cooler at 24C. By 6pm temperatures are predicted to be in the 30Cs. Southampton, Bournemouth, Oxford, Gloucester and Cheltenham will also bask in 30C weather, while the south east and east of England will see highs of 28C. Cities in the south west, including Bath and Bristol, could potentially see temperatures hit 30C, with 29C forecast. The east and west Midlands will not miss out on the heatwave with highs of 28C likely. Parts of south and mid Wales will bask in 27C weather. Elsewhere, Yorkshire and the Humber will see the mercury hover around 22C. The northwest will be significantly cooler, with temperatures forecast to reach only a rather miserable 17C. And the balmy weather will not end there as at 6pm on Wednesday, August 6, the mercury will hover between 27C and 28C for those in southern England. Meanwhile, in the Midlands highs of 27C forecast but for those in the north west it will not see the mercury reach the 20s with highs of 17C likely. Separately, in the Met Office's weather outlook for this period, the forecaster said: "During early August, high pressure may start to have greater influence as it builds northeast across the country. This is bringing more prolonged settled spells to many areas. Breeziest conditions across the north of the country. Temperatures generally near average, though with some warmer spells likely."

British tourists in Greece face new wildfire threat amid 44°C heatwave
Brits on holiday in Greece are being urged to take care as wildfires continue to spread across the country – including close to the capital Athens. Temperatures in south-east Europe are expected to hit 44°C today, in the latest stage of a heatwave that has remained a threat for several weeks. Dry conditions and high winds are also helping to spread fires on both the Greek mainland and some islands. In the town of Kryoneri, just over 12 miles north of Athens, residents have been ordered to evacuate their homes. The blazes in the Attica region spread to Kryoneri, as well as the villages of Drosopigi and Agios Stefanos, after starting in Afidnes yesterday. Since the beginning of this month, the Foreign Office has warned British tourists that they face a 'high risk of wildfires' by travelling to Greece during the summer season. Such fires are 'highly dangerous and unpredictable', the website says, and the 'situation can change quickly'. Visitors to Greece are told to make sure their phone is registered to receive emergency alerts which will advise them if they are under threat. Greek authorities have requested assistance from the European Union in fighting the fires, in the form of six firefighting planes from the bloc's Civil Protection Mechanism. Local news site Ekathemerini said at least five residents of Kryoneri, mostly elderly people with respiratory issues, were being treated by four ambulances. Outside Attica, separate fires are spreading on Greece's two largest islands, Euboea and Crete, as well as on the island of Kythera and in the south-west of the mainland. The wider Balkans area is being heavily impacted by wildfires this year, including Albania, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Kosovo.
