HBO's 'Harry Potter' series casts more Weasley children. Meet Ginny, Fred, George and Percy.
The Weasley family is growing! More Weasley children have been cast for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series that will air in 2027, HBO announced Tuesday.
Mischievous twin brothers Fred and George will be played by Tristan and Gabriel Harland, respectively, while Ruari Spooner has been cast as elder brother Percy, and Gracie Cochrane has been cast as younger sister Ginny.
James and Oliver Phelps originated the role of the twins in the Warner Bros. movies, and Chris Rankin played Percy. Actress Bonnie Wright portrayed Ginny in the films for a decade.
Alastair Stout was already announced to play Ron Weasley, one of Harry Potter's best friends, while Katherine Parkinson has been cast as the Weasleys' mom, Molly. Casting for the eldest Weasley brother, Charlie, and father, Arthur, has not yet been announced
The Harland twins played minor roles in The Last Kingdom TV series in 2020, while Spooner held the lead in a 7-minute short film that was released in 2024, according to IMDb. Cochrane, 11, was a minor character in the 2024 Steve McQueen film, Blitz, and part of the choir in the 2024 movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Many of the major characters have been cast, including Hagrid, Albus Dumbledore and Professor Severus Snape, as well as some of the supporting roles, such as Harry's cousin Dudley Dursley and fellow Gryffindor Neville Longbottom.
HBO's plan is to base each season on one of the seven books in the popular literary series. In December, Variety reported that Discovery global streaming chief JB Perrette said the show is expected to be a 10-year project. The show has started production at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K., which is where the original movie franchise was filmed from 2000 to 2010.
The episodes are being written and executive-produced by Francesca Gardiner; Mark Mylod, who worked as an executive producer and director on the HBO drama Succession, will direct several episodes, according to Warner Bros.

The new season follows Cena's titular character in his continued mission to achieve peace, no matter what it takes. This time, Christopher Smith/Peacemaker is joined by some returning friends from season one, plus new faces to the rebooted DC Universe (DCU). John Cena As Christopher Smith/Peacemaker In season two, Peacemaker gets his hands on an interdimensional portal and discovers the parallel world of his dreams. Before portraying Peacemaker, Cena made a name for himself as a 17-time WWE world champion. He's one of several professional wrestlers who made the jump to acting in Hollywood. Cena appeared in several comedies, including Trainwreck, Daddy's Home, Sisters and Blockers. He also starred alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the 2018 Transformers franchise film Bumblebee. Cena later joined the Fast & Furious franchise as Jakob, the estranged brother of Vin Diesel's Dominic Toretto, in F9: The Fast Saga. He reprised the role for Fast X. Cena also had a cameo as a merman in Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie and guest-starred as Sammy Fak on season three of The Bear. He made his debut as Peacemaker in the 2021 movie The Suicide Squad and has since played the character on his own spin-off series and Gunn's Superman film. Danielle Brooks As Leota Adebayo Adebayo is the daughter of government agent Amanda Waller (Viola Davis). Brooks rose to fame playing Taystee on the series Orange Is the New Black. She also earned a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her performance as Sofia in the revival of The Color Purple. After reprising the role of Sofia for Blitz Bazawule's 2023 film remake of The Color Purple, Brooks landed an Oscar nomination. Most recently, Brooks starred as Dawn in the 2025 Minecraft movie and voiced Kitty Kat in the animated film The Bad Guys 2. Jennifer Holland As Emilia Harcourt Harcourt is a no-nonsense agent who's skilled in combat. She was first introduced in The Suicide Squad and has subsequently appeared in Peacemaker, Black Adam and the mid-credits scene of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Holland also had a minor role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Administrator Kwol in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, written and directed by Gunn, her real-life husband. Freddie Stroma As Adrian Chase/Vigilante Outside of job as a busboy at Fennel Fields, he takes the law into his own hands as a masked man known as Vigilante. Vigilante also thinks he's Peacemaker's best friend. Harry Potter fans might recognize Stroma for playing the arrogant Hogwarts student named Cormac McLaggen in the film franchise. Stroma also played H.G. Wells in the ABC series Time After Time and Prince Friedrich in season one of Bridgerton. Steve Agee As John Economos Economos is skilled in technology and tactics. He previously showed up in The Suicide Squad and Shazam! Fury of the Gods. Before joining the DCU, the actor and comedian, starred on the sitcom The Sarah Silverman Project, played Iassc on Superstore and had a recurring role as Outside Dave on New Girl. Additionally, Agee guest starred on shows like Happy Endings, Community, Modern Family and Rick and Morty. Robert Patrick As Auggie Smith Auggie was Christopher's racist, cruel father. He was also a supervillain known as White Dragon. Although Christopher killed Auggie in the penultimate episode of season one, his father popped up in the form of a hallucination in the finale. The official trailer for season two shows that Patrick will return, but he'll most likely appear in a parallel dimension. Patrick has been acting professionally since the '80s, appearing in films like Die Hard 2, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Striptease and Walk the Line. In recent years, Patrick also appeared in the TV shows Reacher, The Night Agent and 1923. Frank Grillo As Rick Flag Sr. Before being part of the DC Universe, Grillo portrayed Nick Savrinn on Prison Break and starred as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones in the MCU. Grillo voiced Rick Flag Sr. in Gunn's animated show Creature Commandos and most recently played the same character in Superman. In season two of Peacemaker, he serves as the director of A.R.G.U.S. and is on a mission to hunt down Peacemaker, who killed his son, Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman), in The Suicide Squad. Tim Meadows As Langston Fleury Fleury is an A.R.G.U.S. agent tasked with hunting down Peacemaker. Meadows is an actor and comedian who's perhaps best known for starring as Principal Duvall in Mean Girls and for his 10-season tenure on Saturday Night Live, which earned him an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series. Meadows also played John Glascott on The Goldbergs and guest-starred on plenty of shows, including The Office, Curb Your Enthusiasm, 30 Rock, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Poker Face and The Mandalorian. He reprised his role as Mr. Duvall for the 2011 Mean Girls sequel and the 2024 Mean Girls musical film. Sol Rodriguez As Sasha Bordeaux Rodriguez joins Peacemaker as Sasha, an A.R.G.U.S. agent who works alongside Fleury. Rodriguez's first professional acting role was on the Nickelodeon Latin America show Grachi, in which she played a character named Mecha. She also starred as Daniela Mercado on season four of the drama series Devious Maids and portrayed Dr. Teresa Ramirez on Star Trek: Picard. More recently, she starred in the Netflix rom-com Holiday in the Vineyards. Season two of Peacemaker premieres on Thursday at 9 p.m. EST. The remaining episodes will release weekly, leading up to the season finale on Thursday, October 9.

John Cena Digs Into Peacemaker's Big ‘Suicide Squad' Kill
Season two of Peacemaker will finally have Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) coming in hot for Chris Smith (John Cena) to exact revenge over the death of his son. Killing his squad leader, Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman), in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad was a moment that made Peacemaker irredeemable before being hilariously unpacked in season one of the HBO Max show, which centered the antihero's mistake as something that broke him—that and the bullet Bloodsport (Idris Elba) put through his neck. In an interview with GQ, Peacemaker star John Cena discussed how Smith viewed his action in the moment: 'To know that Peacemaker is willing to kill for peace is important because he does. And he kills a person who he looks up to and who he's developed a friendship with. What we know about Chris Smith through the film is he doesn't have many friends. And when he falls in with this ragtag group of people, there's a scene at the cantina where everyone is having drinks and sharing and getting along, and like, you can see him leaning into having friends for the first time.' Cena continued, 'We don't know any of the backstory from season one. We don't know about how he's brought up. We don't know about his brother. We don't know any of that stuff.' This is backstory viewers become privy to when they see multitudes in Chris he's not even aware of on Peacemaker, but the killing in Suicide Squad makes it hard to overcome based on what's given. 'You can give a note about [how] this guy's kind of a social outcast, and that can stick. He's found somebody in lockstep like Rick Flag, where he admires this person. It's everything he wants to be. And then when Flag gets a different perspective on what truth is and what virtue is, Peacemaker does what he usually does. And that's just kill for peace. And this is the first time you probably see that armor wear thin.' Deserving any sort of redemption is the last thing on anyone's mind when he kills Flag. In season one of Peacemaker, we begin to see that he might be deserving of forgiveness despite the red on his ledger, because Flag's final words to him resonate: 'Peacemaker…what a joke.' The trauma of the mistake sets in motion the identity crisis at the core of the show when you see he's afraid to kill. Cena described the moment when Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) calls him out over it as 'Peacemaker's first chance to kind of get back on the horse after the Rick Flag trauma, and you can see he's not over it.' He's seen by the 11th Street kids as vulnerable: 'This hard-nosed killer who talks amongst his peers like the biggest badass when he's hit with the moment of truth to do things that he wouldn't even think twice about. He starts to question if what he's doing is right.' Eventually Peacemaker had a breakthrough by killing his bigoted fascist father, but now, of course, in season two, another dad is on the way to get even. He continued to describe how Chris' evolution might change a well-deserved amount of payback when Flag Sr. shows up: '[You] want to root for the flawed character, and I think that's what's important about all the characters in Peacemaker. They all have their setbacks and flaws, but you all want to root for them because they're all trying to do better.' The Weasleys are officially stepping into the spotlight in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series remake, and the magical family is already looking pretty great. While we've seen a steady stream of casting news for Hogwarts students, the red-headed wizarding clan is now starting to take shape, and we have a first look. We already knew that Alastair Stout would be playing Ron Weasley, Harry's loyal best friend, and Katherine Parkinson would take on the role of Molly Weasley, the loving matriarch. Now HBO has unveiled the young actors playing four more of Ron's siblings. Stepping into the roles of the mischievous twins Fred and George are real-life brothers Tristan and Gabriel Harland, while Ruari Spooner has been cast as the rule-abiding Percy Weasley. The youngest sibling, Ginny, the only daughter in the family, will be played by Gracie Cochrane. HBO revealed the cast with a fun selfie featuring the four newcomers alongside Stout, shared on Instagram. The Weasley family plays a major role in the Harry Potter universe, and since HBO is aiming for a more faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling 's books, their presence will be even more significant. These newly announced characters all appear in the first book, but there are still a few Weasleys left to cast. Arthur Weasley, the quirky and loveable patriarch, hasn't been revealed yet, but since he becomes a major player starting with the second book, he'll need to be cast soon, likely before production begins on Season 2. There's also Charlie Weasley, who might at least get a name-drop this season. In the book, Charlie plays a part in helping smuggle the baby dragon Norbert out of Hogwarts, a scene the films trimmed down, but one that the series now has time to explore more fully. Charlie doesn't physically appear until the fourth book, so his casting could wait unless HBO wants to show photos of him in the Weasley household. That same question goes for Bill Weasley, who becomes a bigger part of the story beginning in Goblet of Fire and shows up consistently through to the end. Whether the series casts him and Charlie early on just for background family moments, like Molly's magical 'grandfather clock', is still up in the air. In the movies, the clock featured photos of each family member, but the show might take a simpler route with names instead. For now, we've got a solid Weasley lineup to start the journey with Harry. HBO's Harry Potter series is currently filming and is slated to premiere sometime in early 2027.
