Docs: Man kills, disembowels dad; Says he was an alien
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 39-year-old man was recently arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing and disemboweling his dad, saying he didn't recognize him as his dad but as an alien, according to court documents obtained by KTSM.
Man arrested for murder in 'suspicious' unattended death
As we previously reported, Jaime Adrian Contreras, 39, was arrested and booked into the El Paso County Detention Center Facility under a $2 million bond on the charge of murder in the death of Victor Gerardo Contreras, 74, according to El Paso Police.
According to court documents, on Saturday, April 12, EPPD officers were dispatched to 11755 Ronald McNair Dr. to a reported 'unattended death.'
The call was made when a victim's family member entered the victim's house, as he had not heard from him for approximately a week. The family member said both the front and back doors were locked. However, the victim's bedroom window was open, and he noticed the smell of 'rotting flesh emanating from the residence,' according to court documents.
According to court documents, upon entering the home, the family member observed something covered with a sheet on the floor in the victim's room. He lifted the sheet, which was covered in blood, and recognized the victim's face, and also noticed head trauma. The family member also noticed that the victim appeared to be bloated.
The family member then exited the home to find that the victim's Jeep Wrangler was missing, according to court documents.
According to court documents, the family member said he sent Jaime Contreras multiple messages. He said that he knew Jaime Contreras had read the message, but did not reply.
Detectives obtained a statement from the family member's wife, who said she had last spoken to the victim over the phone on April 5, two separate times, according to court documents.
According to court documents, the first time she said the victim told her that he was having problems with Jaime Contreras, saying 'he was acting crazy again.'
While she was speaking to the victim over the phone, Jaime Contreras took his phone away and stated that the victim wanted to sell the house, and he was not happy about that. After that, the victim was able to take his phone back and told her that he had called the police, according to court documents.
According to court documents, minutes later on the same day, the victim called her again and said everything was fine, but did not elaborate on what the officers did.
Later on, on April 12, the family member's wife said that while she was at the victim's home, she was approached by a neighbor who told her she had not seen the victim and that Jaime Contreras had been moving the Jeep around. And at one point, the neighbor had seen Jaime Contreras yelling in the middle of the street, according to court documents.
According to court documents, detectives were able to contact one of the victim's neighbors, who said that he observed the Jeep to be parked on streets near Ronald McNair Drive. He added that he would see Jaime Contreras get out of the vehicle and walk towards the home, where he would stay for hours. The neighbor said he found this odd because he knew the vehicle belonged to the victim.
Detectives executed a search warrant for the home and observed suspected blood throughout the home, indicating a possible struggle, according to court documents.
According to court documents, the medical examiner investigator arrived at the scene where she conducted her preliminary investigation.
The sheet was removed from the victim, which revealed he was 'disemboweled.' The victim also appeared to have a slit throat and several stab wounds around the neck area. It was determined that the victim did suffer a head injury, according to court documents.
According to court documents, while at the scene, detectives were notified that the Jeep and Jaime Contreras were located near Hueco Tanks. Detectives and Crimes Against Persons made it to Hueco Tanks, where Jaime Contreras said the vehicle belonged to the victim.
When Jaime Contreras was asked about the victim, he said he was 'in heaven,' according to court documents.
According to court documents, further investigation revealed that on April 5, the victim called the police for assistance and said Jaime Contreras was 'threatening him and killed his pets.' Officers responded to the call, where it was closed out as 'checking okay' reference mental health.
Later that day, the victim called 911 and said that Jaime Contreras had hit him and had a hammer on his person. Comments further stated that Jaime Contreras threatened the victim, telling him, 'Give me my power,' then went upstairs, according to court documents.
According to court documents, officers responded to the call, which was closed out as a mental health call, as the victim did not tell them that he was hit with the hammer, as he had advised dispatch.
Detectives met with officers who were dispatched to the call on April 5, when Jaime Contreras had a hammer. The officer stated that during the call, a silver mallet with an orange or red handle was located in the living room on the couch. The hammer was taken away and given to the victim, according to court documents.
According to court documents, Jaime Contreras had a swollen right hand and a deep laceration to his right pinky. Jaime Contreras said that he had obtained those injuries as a result of 'battling.'
When asked what Jaime Contreras meant about battling, he clarified that he was fighting. He proceeded to say that an alien had harvested his organs a few days ago, according to court documents.
According to court documents, back in 2023, officers were dispatched to the home about an emergency detention order, where the officers were told that Jaime Contreras believed the victim was an alien. The report indicated that Jaime Contreras did walk around the neighborhood holding a decapitated rabbit.
Two months later in 2023, officers were once again sent to the home, where this time, officers were told that Jaime Contreras believed the victim was an alien and did not recognize him as his dad, according to court documents.

Docs: Fort Bliss soldier charged with animal cruelty says dog was service animal
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A Fort Bliss sergeant who was charged with animal cruelty earlier this month told police that the dog was his service animal, according to court documents obtained by KTSM. Fort Bliss soldier arrested for animal cruelty in Socorro after video of tethered dog goes viral David Scott, 46, was arrested on Thursday, June 5, and charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals: kill/poison/serious bodily injury after tethering his service dog, Rooster, to an 'extremely hot metal surface in the back of a truck, causing it unjustifiable pain and suffering' on Thursday, May 29, according to court documents. Court documents say Rooster, a 1-year-old red heeler, was seen in distress in the back of a truck that Thursday afternoon, which was parked at Las Palmas Marketplace at 1319 George Dieter. A witness told police that after exiting a store in the strip mall area, she noticed a dog was panting heavily, shaking, and balancing itself on the edge of the bed of the truck. The witness took a video of the dog and captured the moment the dog slipped and was hanging by its collar. The witness then helped the dog back onto the truck bed, telling police that the truck bed was extremely hot to the touch, court documents said. The witness then retrieved a blanket from her vehicle and placed it on the bed of the truck to provide some relief for the dog. The witness confirmed that the dog had no water, food, or shade, according to court documents. The witness sent the video to a popular social media page on Instagram, to which the social media account advised the witness to report the incident to authorities, according to court documents. An officer responded to the scene shortly after and made contact with Scott at a restaurant nearby. Scott told the officer that he had seen the video on social media stating, 'We were inside Ariat and I do have lead back there. So, I just saw the clip on FitFam, but when I watched it, he slipped off and came right back on. He wasn't hanging there, because by the time I came back out to the truck, he was already back on,' according to court documents. Scott then confirmed to police that the dog was his service animal and told police that the video on social media 'does not accurately reflect what the dog is capable of, claiming that Rooster has jumped from helicopters and participated in missions with him,' court documents said. Court documents say the dog was secured to the truck's rail with a leash, preventing it from moving freely. Scott was then seen entering a store, leaving the dog exposed to direct sunlight without any form of shade. The truck bed, made of steel, became extremely hot, creating hazardous conditions for the dog, court documents said. At the time of the incident, the ambient temperature was recorded at 95 degrees, while the steel surface of the truck bed reached 140 degrees, according to court documents. Court documents say Scott intentionally and knowingly caused the dog unjustifiable pain and suffering by leaving it tethered to the bed truck under extreme heat conditions. This act of 'negligence' subjected the dog to physical distress, pain, and suffering. Scott was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $30,000 bond. He later posted bond on Sunday, June 8. A Fort Bliss spokesperson confirmed that Scott is a sergeant assigned to the Soldier Recovery Unit at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. Fact Check: Don't fall for old footage showing burning police cars in Los Angeles
Claim: A video authentically showed burning, graffitied police cars during protests in Los Angeles in June 2025. Rating: Context: The footage showed protests in LA following the death of George Floyd in May 2020 — not June 2025 protests over immigration enforcement actions. In June 2025, as immigration enforcement actions sparked protests in Los Angeles, a claim (archived) circulated that a video authentically showed burning, graffitied police cars during protests in the city in June 2025. (X user @DramaAlert) One X user posted the footage on June 8, 2025, captioned "Absolute CHAOS in Los Angeles right now…" The footage circulated widely on X (archived) but also appeared on Facebook (archived). However, the footage claiming to show protests in June 2025 was miscaptioned. Though the footage was authentic and showed protests in LA, it originally featured in news reports on protests following the death of George Floyd in May 2020. The police vehicles seen in the footage can be identified by their roof numbers that corresponded to 2020, not 2025 footage. A snippet of the footage appeared in an NBC News report from May 31, 2020, at time code 0:35. The footage showed cars 504 and 658, which also appeared in the footage circulating in June 2025. Car 504 had its hood open and Car 658 was on fire — identical features to the June 2025 footage. An NBC picture gallery from the same May 2020 date also featured a screenshot from the footage (Image 42) that again featured cars 504 and 658. The image gallery credited the footage to NBC4 and Telemundo 52. Though this exact video didn't show protests in 2025, pictures from the reputable photo agency Getty Images showed a similar lineup of police cars near a motorway overpass during protests over immigration enforcement actions in LA in June 2025. According to a report from The Associated Press, protesters threw "chunks of concrete, rocks, electric scooters and fireworks" at officers and vehicles parked on the closed U.S. Highway 101 as officers ran for cover. This isn't the only miscaptioned footage purportedly showing burning cars during the June 2025 LA protests we've fact-checked.
