'Huge sea change happening' in US government as 'large number' of US officials 'waking up to reality of UFOs', veteran journalist claims

Sky News AU6 days ago
Recent comments by America's Director of National Intelligence have reignited calls for the United States government to reveal what it knows about the UFO phenomenon.
Asked whether she had discovered anything relating to UFOs during a recent podcast with News Corp journalist Miranda Devine, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard provided a hint about her own views on the topic.
'Nothing that I'm prepared to talk about today… I'm just going to say this: yeah, we're continuing to look for the truth and share that truth with the American people,' she said.
Pressed on whether she thought aliens were responsible for the phenomenon, the senior US official said she had her 'own views and opinions', but was restricted in what she could say.
'In this role, I've got to be careful with what I share,' she said.
Speaking to Sky News Australia on Thursday, veteran investigative reporter Ross Coulthart told Sharri Markson there had been a 'huge number' of US officials speaking out about the issue since the New York Times revealed in a 2017 cover story there was a secret UFO research program inside the Pentagon.
"Tulsi Gabbard is saying what a huge number of US officials have been saying for the past few years,' Coulthart told Sharri.
'There's a huge sea change happening in American executive government right now. They're suddenly waking up to the reality of UFOs.'
Coulthart said the senior officials who are 'very interested in the phenomenon' included Vice President JD Vance.
'He admitted very recently that he's been watching a lot of UFO videos, and like everyone else, he's intrigued,' he said.
Coulthart, who has written a book about UFOs, said that while 99 per cent of viewers were unlikely to believe it, he was 'absolutely convinced, after years of investigating this subject, that the United States really has got information in its files about non-human intelligences engaging with this planet'.
'The Pentagon, frankly, is flat out lying when it denies any knowledge of such intelligence,' he claimed.
Coulthart cited his interview with former National Geospatial Intelligence Agency official David Grusch, who testified before Congress in 2023 the US government had programs to reverse engineer 'non-human' craft.
'Dave went public with me, admitting that he had uncovered evidence of a UAP technology craft retrieval program where craft are secretly being reverse engineered by the US government,' Coulthart said.
'Why are they hiding it? I think they're hiding it because they're using the technology to try and develop an advantage over foreign adversaries - which is, frankly, fair enough.
'I do think, though, that the American public and the rest of the world should have the right to know that we're not alone.'
Coulthart also claimed Elon Musk had been briefed on the issue by the US government.
'I've been told by people in the intelligence community in the United States that Elon Musk had to be briefed because of his satellite work that he's been doing for the Defence Department,' he said.
Musk has previously dismissed discussion of UFO's, stating he hasn't seen 'any evidence of aliens'.
Despite this, Coulthart said the number of people speaking out about the issue was not widely understood.
'Frankly, one of the things I think Australia has its head in the sand on is the volume and intensity of admissions by the US administration, there are so many people who are now admitting that there is a 'there there',' he said.
'Senior whistleblowers coming forward, but also people in government. You've got Kash Patel, the head of the FBI, has pledged transparency, and he's got a secret investigation going on into allegations that people have been murdered to protect this secret.
'As well as that, John Ratcliffe, the new director of the CIA, he also has vowed transparency. We're holding our breath and not really expecting much of a result just yet with President Trump, he's been very distracted.
'But I did an interview with Don Trump Jr late last year… he admitted to me that he is very interested in UAPs, and he's very engaged, and I get the impression so is his old man.'

Australia's ‘critical' offering to the US

Australia is key to Donald Trump's goals of weaning the US off cheap Chinese critical minerals, Australia's envoy in Washington says. Critical minerals are just that – minerals, such as lithium, vital for manufacturing advanced technologies, from smartphones and cars to wind turbines and defence systems. Currently, China dominates the space, but Australia has emerged as a challenger, ruffling some feathers in Beijing. Because of their importance to modern tech, Western countries are increasingly viewing critical minerals as a matter of national security and scrambling to bolster sovereign stockpiles and production. In an interview overnight, Australian Ambassador to the US Kevin Rudd said that Xi Jinping's 'ideology' on China's long-term economic development was 'to ensure that the world is dependent on China while China is not dependent on the world'. 'And that in a nutshell is what we see across the whole breadth of industrial policy, from semiconductors through to critical minerals and rare earths,' the former prime minister told the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Australian Ambassador to the US Kevin Rudd says Australia is key to breaking China's grip on critical minerals. Martin Ollman / NewsWire Credit: News Corp Australia Boasting mineral reserves that 'more or less equals the periodic table' and an advanced mining sector, Mr Rudd said Australia was well-placed to help break the dependence on China. 'Geology has been kind to us,' he said, adding that Australia is 'an ancient continent'. 'We have the best mining companies in the world and the biggest mining companies in the world, some of whom have just been meeting with President Trump here in Washington, DC., as well as a whole depth of technical expertise represented in the research faculties of our major universities. 'So put together the geology … put together our processing capacity … and put together the depth and breadth of our mining expertise, I think we're well-placed to assist in diversifying the supply chains, creating resilient supply chains, and helping the United States, under President Trump's leadership, meet his requirements for a resilient America when it comes to critical minerals and rare earths.' Australia's emergence as a competitor in the sector has not gone down well in Beijing. Despite the Chinese President's warm words to Anthony Albanese in July about fair and open trade, his government's actions have made clear that extends to Australian lobsters rather than Australian minerals. Since 2022, Australia's leading producer Lynas Rare Earths has been subjected to a relentless Chinese disinformation campaign targeting its operations both within Australia and abroad. It has not deterred efforts to grow Australia's presence, driven in large part by the defence industry. Mr Rudd said critical minerals should be viewed as 'defence goods', pointing to the tons used in the nuclear-powered submarines Australia is set to get under AUKUS. He said the American-made Virginia-class 'contains within it something like 4.5 tons of critical minerals, rare earths, highly processed'. 'You go to an F-35, you're looking at a high proportion of the actual aircraft itself being derivative of advanced process to rare earth,' he continued. 'So whether we like it or not, the reality is the sharpest edges of what we do in the military hang off the availability of critical minerals in rare earths supply, as well as processed critical minerals in rare earths, as well as critical ... derivatives, such as magnets. 'So I think what President Trump is seeking to do … is trying to find how this now plays into a secure supply chain the United States. 'And as a US ally, we are ready and able to help, and we have the capacity to do so.'

Neighbours hurl anti-Semitic slurs at father of Georgia woman killed working for Israel's border patrol: video

A grieving father of an American woman killed while serving on Israel's border patrol was verbally abused by neighbors who shouted antisemitic slurs and mocked him for his daughter's death, according to the hurting dad and video. Sgt. Elisheva Rose Ida Lubin, 20, was stabbed to death by a teenage 'terrorist' while patrolling Jerusalem's Old City in November 2023. Rose was a 'lone soldier' living in Israel without her family after immigrating there in August 2021 and starting her mandated army duty in March 2022 — more than a year before the Israel-Hamas War officially began. Her father, David Lubin, hasn't known peace since his daughter's untimely death. Back home in Atlanta, where Rose lived with her family before moving to Israel, David said he's been frequently harassed by his vindictive neighbors who labeled the mourning father as a 'corrupt Israeli.' The simmering tensions between the two households came to a head when David posted signage honoring Rose across from his neighbors, who had other signs claiming support for Palestinians alongside bits covered with derogatory Jewish slurs, he said. Rose Lubin was killed after a teenage 'terrorist' stabbed her while on patrol in November 2023. Picture: Israel Police David went across the street to confront his neighbours, who defended the use of the slur. Picture: David Lubin David told Atlanta News First that he never took issue with his neighbors' signs, as they had a right to display whatever they wanted. He tried to shake off their comments, at first — until he said he heard the irate woman call him a 'k–e' and shout that 'your daughter deserved to die,' he told the outlet. David marched across the street and confronted his neighbors while they each filmed one another on their phones. David Lubin's neighbours called out to him from across the road. Picture: David Lubin 'You are calling yourself a k–e, you know what you are. You know what you are better than me. You are a corrupt politician with a daughter in the IDF that went there to kill, and has killed maybe in friendly fire because the Israeli soldiers kill each other all the time, and you know very well,' one of his neighbors, Anna Bouyzk, insisted as they argued over the meaning of the Jewish slur. Bouyzk and her husband Mark, the co-founder of the bought-out genetics company AKESOgen, went on to insist Rose's death was okay because 'she was fighting.' 'Do you realize when you say that how disgusting you are? You are disgusting. You are disgusting. You are the most disgusting person I've ever met. 'Because you're a Jew, you don't understand'? You are so confused,' David spat. Anna Bouyzk allegedly told David that Rose's death was his fault. Picture: David Lubin Bouyzk insisted that she isn't a 'Jew hater' because she has other 'Jew friends'. Picture: David Lubin Bouyzk later doubled down and told the outlet that she had no qualms about lobbing the detestable slur at David. 'I don't regret what I said, and I'll say it a million times again. And I'm not a Jew hater because I have Jew friends,' she told the outlet. Bouyzk admitted, almost proudly, that she called David on Monday and told him that he was responsible for his daughter's death. David, growing desperate, said he is considering reporting Bouyzk's harassment to local police. Trump rules out US troops on the ground in any Ukraine peace deal

London: US President Donald Trump has ruled out sending troops to Ukraine in a potential peace deal with Russia, placing a strict limit on America's role and putting the onus on European nations to enforce any truce. Trump offered US Air Force support to the peace plan but assured American voters he would not put 'boots on the ground' in Ukraine – a key issue for those in his MAGA movement who oppose a bigger commitment to the European war. The comment came a day after Trump left the option open when asked twice if he would send ground troops, signalling the caution in the White House about how to ensure Russian President Vladimir Putin honours any peace deal. European leaders are preparing to impose more sanctions on Russia to encourage Putin to end the war, while they step up plans for a 'coalition of the willing' to offer security to Ukraine, which was backed with a message of support from Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Tuesday night. Trump has promised to 'coordinate' the security guarantees that European countries will offer to Ukraine to support any peace deal, given their concerns Putin would breach a deal and trigger future conflict, but his assurance about troops puts another limit on the US role. In an interview on Fox News, the president also revealed that he hoped his efforts to see peace in Ukraine would help him after he died. 'I want to try and get to heaven, if possible,' Trump said. 'I'm hearing I'm not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole. But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons.'
