Rams have a chance to be a 'really special group' in 2025, Sean McVay says
McVay sees 'a lot of real reasons' for optimism this year
There may be teams more talented than the Los Angeles Rams on paper but wins and losses don't always come down to pure skill. Chemistry, coaching and work ethic all come into play, as well.
The Rams have the talent to make a deep playoff run in 2025 and they also have the drive to make it happen, too. That's what has Sean McVay so excited about the upcoming season. With the offseason program wrapped up, McVay has seen a hungry team that's full of special people and players, both on the field and off it.
He feels the Rams have a chance to be a 'really special group' this season.
'What I would say is I'm very optimistic about what our chances to be able to come together and to be able to impact each other in a positive way,' McVay said to J.B. Long. 'And you know as well as I do, want to be able to hopefully stay as healthy as we possibly can but I think the way that these guys are impacting one another, the way that we're impacting each other, I think it's got a chance to be a really special group. I feel like I say it almost every year where you're as excited as you've ever been but there's a lot of real reasons to feel that way and we're looking forward to swinging and I think kind of like we ended the last season, there was a lot of things guys can be proud of. We know every year is a new year, but there's a lot of special people that I think give you a chance because it's all about people and when you've got the right people, now how do we come together? And we're looking forward to that.'
This isn't a case of McVay being blindly optimistic about the Rams' chances to have success in 2025. Building on their late-season push last year, the Rams have improved and look to repeat as NFC West champions in 2025.
With leaders such as Matthew Stafford, Davante Adams, Rob Havenstein and Tyler Higbee on the roster, the younger players aren't lacking veterans who can keep them on the right path. And through community efforts in both L.A. and Hawaii, the Rams are building character outside of football.
If healthy, the Rams are going to be a fun team this year.

Sam Darnold reflects on Vikings' brutal playoff loss vs Rams
The post Sam Darnold reflects on Vikings' brutal playoff loss vs Rams appeared first on ClutchPoints. Sam Darnold's lone season with the Minnesota Vikings ended with a 14-2 record, but the promising run quickly unraveled with a crushing playoff exit. However, things took a turn for the worse pretty quickly. After a tough 31-9 loss to the Detroit Lions in Week 18, the Vikings followed it with a disappointing 27-9 Wild Card playoff exit against the Los Angeles Rams. What started as a standout season for Darnold turned into a tough lesson about the pressures of postseason play, ultimately leading to his departure from the Vikings and his signing with the Seattle Seahawks Advertisement As the newly appointed starter for Minnesota, Darnold faced challenges in both playoff games. Against the Rams, he was sacked a staggering nine times, and the Vikings could only muster nine points. Looking back on the disappointing end to the season, Darnold reflected. 'We laid an egg as an offense… I didn't play up to my standard. I feel like if I would have just played better, I would've been able to give the team a chance,' he shared in an interview with Mike Silver from The Athletic. The Vikings' struggle to adapt to defensive strategies proved to be a significant setback. Darnold pointed out that both Detroit and L.A. 'played man and tried to play some 'robber' stuff,' which threw off the Vikings' ability to convert on third downs and disrupted their offensive flow. 'It gave me some troubles, personally,' Darnold admitted about the coverage tactics they faced in those crucial games. Now, as he prepares to join the Seattle Seahawks, Darnold is determined to grow from this experience. Advertisement 'I learned a lot last season, especially from those two games,' he said. 'You go through those experiences, you learn, and you get better.' For Darnold, it's not just about bouncing back; it's about showing that the version of himself who led the Vikings to 14 wins is the one who will shape his future. Seahawks' Sam Darnold dishes on what makes Cooper Kupp unique
The post Seahawks' Sam Darnold dishes on what makes Cooper Kupp unique appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Seattle Seahawks signed Cooper Kupp this offseason after moving DK Metcalf to the Pittsburgh Steelers. They also brought in a new QB1, signing Sam Darnold to a big deal. Advertisement Darnold and Kupp will headline the Seahawks' new-look offense, and the signal-caller explained on The Rich Eisen Show why he believes Kupp is unique: 'Coop is amazing, the way he moves is very unique I think. Being able to get a ton of reps with him and just see how he kind of gets in and out of routes, like I said it's different. That's what made him such a great player, just the way you know he can make certain routes look the same and he ends up in completely different spot. It's very unique and he is different that way.' Kupp is a seasoned veteran, and he's one of the best route runners in the NFL. While the pass-catcher has dealt with a lot of injury problems in the past couple of years, he gets a fresh start in Seattle, the same state he grew up in and played college football at Eastern Washington. In 2021, Kupp was easily the best wide receiver in the league. He caught 145 passes for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, helping the Rams win a Super Bowl. If he can find that brilliance again with the Seahawks, it's going to do wonders for this team as they look to make a playoff return. Advertisement As for Darnold, he just had a resurgent campaign in 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings, which attracted the interest of Seattle. They traded QB1 Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, who is set to reunite with Pete Carroll. Darnold and Kupp's potential chemistry will be key in the Seahawks' 2025 season. Health is important, but the reality is that they both need to be consistent. We'll see if that will happen.

3 hottest Seattle Seahawks takes takes coming out of 2025 minicamp
The post 3 hottest Seattle Seahawks takes takes coming out of 2025 minicamp appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Seattle Seahawks turned to minicamp to gain an idea of one 2025 partnership moving forward. They got an early taste of the Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp connection. Advertisement Darnold fuels new excitement in the Pacific Northwest as he aims to capitalize on his breakout 2024 season. Seattle and head coach Mike Macdonald will hope the 'Hawks get that version of Darnold, not the injury ravaged one. The Seahawks even added an old rival in Kupp via NFL free agency. Darnold himself has seen what makes Kupp unique. But the former Los Angeles Rams star Kupp and Darnold aren't the only hot takes coming out of minicamp. Seattle brings additional storylines this season. Including if there's enough talent to topple the NFC West champion Rams. And if one intriguing rookie could see action right away. Here are three of the hottest takes now that the Seahawks are one month away from reporting to training camp. Sam Darnold will have Matthew Stafford-like cohesion with Cooper Kupp Stephen Brashear-Imagn Images Kupp dominated when healthy as a trusted target for Matthew Stafford. Hence the birth of the 'nine and dime' connection in L.A. Advertisement Darnold should be no different for Kupp. When healthy, Darnold is near similar in QB play. The former top three selection throws with zip and precision when given time to throw. Darnold showed he can strike deep while with the Minnesota Vikings. He's even made off-platform throws like Stafford. The downside is Darnold's injury history. But here's another reason why the chemistry will become instant. Darnold enters an offense that mirrors what the Vikings did under Kevin O'Connell. The only difference is Klint Kubiak plans to be a little more run-oriented. But the play actions schemes and motions are near identical to O'Connell's offensive rollout. But guess where those principles came from? The Sean McVay offense that Kupp thrived in. Both QB and WR should have zero issue getting on the same page once September arrives. Seattle will insert Jalen Milroe somehow someway Jake Crandall/ Advertiser / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Highly doubt Seattle will wait until Darnold goes down for Jalen Milroe to get thrown in. Got a strong feeling Kubiak will attempt to unleash Milroe early. Advertisement Kubiak, again, looks to be implementing a run-based approach. This is perfect for the dual-threat out of Alabama too. Milroe earned comparisons to Lamar Jackson when it comes to taking off and running. The incoming offensive coordinator now has the option to rest Darnold's arm and turn to Milroe's abilities. He's prime to keep defenses on their toes as a throwing and running threat. Milroe can even rise as a red zone option if Kubiak wants to get creative. Milroe already stood out early during minicamp. That's a sign he's making a push for playing time — even if it means rotating with Darnold. Seahawks will produce 1,000-yard RB, but not Kenneth Walker III Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Walker will get touches. He's a past 1,00-yard back Kubiak gets to work with. Advertisement But this system looks perfect for a battering ram back like Zach Charbonnet. He rises as the 1,000-yard threat this fall. Charbonnet raised his production higher last season. He racked up 569 yards with eight touchdowns via six starts. The former day two pick Charbonnet is one sleeper to watch for Seattle in 2025. Kubiak's system is tailored made for a back who can bring back beast mode-like runs in the PNW.
