5 U.S. Open videos showing how dastardly the rough is at Oakmont
5 U.S. Open videos showing how dastardly the rough is at Oakmont It's that time again, golf fans. Time for those practicing at the U.S. Open site to show off videos of dropping golf balls into the deep, snarled rough and watching them disappear. Literally, every year there has been phone cameras, there has been at least one video of a player showing the world how tough the rough is. This year? It starts with Ben Griffin, who took a snap of his ball at No. 1 at Oakmont and dropped it into the tall grass, which ate up his ball. Then there were all kinds of videos -- one player put his wedge through it just to show you how deep it was, while others tried taking shots in it that snagged clubs as they were hit. Translation: it's going to be a rough -- I swear, no pun intended! -- week for these golfers, as is the tradition at the U.S. Open. And I, for one, am here to see players having to hack their way out of trouble: Beyond that, you've also got the Church Pew bunker on No. 17 that will be all kinds of challenging should anyone hit into there.
