SureFlow introduces AI-driven solutions to reduce energy consumption
Sebastien Dui, SureFlow's dynamic Chief Executive Officer, said the GCC countries are heavily investing in smart city initiatives as part of their economic diversification and sustainability goals with projects like Saudi Arabia's Neom and Dubai's Smart Dubai Plan.
'Dubai's smart city initiatives are commendable, and they are a part of the bigger sustainability and AI transformation objectives of the UAE Energy Strategy 2050,' Sebastien Dui told Gulf Today during an exclusive interview.
Highlighting sustainability goals of futuristic projects, the CEO of UK-based SureFlow said smart cities are increasingly focused on reducing carbon footprints through smart grids, renewable energy, and electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure.
'Basically, smart cities integrate digital technology into urban infrastructure to improve efficiency, sustainability, and quality of life. These interconnected technologies optimise city operations through real-time data collection and analysis, enabling benefits like reduced traffic congestion, optimised energy consumption, improved public safety, and enhanced household services to ultimately create a more sustainable way of living for the community,' Sebastien Dui said.
Homeowners in smart cities are empowered through advanced technologies to optimiae their energy consumption. For example, based on solar availability and grid demands, they can be informed about the best time to charge their electric vehicles vehicle, avoid higher energy tariffs through smart recommendations, and be alerted if a hidden water flow anomaly or leak occurs. Smart cities enable this level of intelligent living while reducing energy costs significantly.
'This is where SureFlow comes in, as a cutting-edge technology company that leveraged its dedicated in-house R&D lab to develop comprehensive AI-powered energy monitoring and optimisation solutions. We have innovated a comprehensive AI-empowered system that can contribute to achieving these smart city objectives, through our 24/7 energy monitoring system that empowers smart city consumers with a better understanding of their energy usage patterns, so they can optimise them,' Sebastien Dui said.
'Our solution also addresses the top concern of homeowners, which is energy cost, by keeping the consumers always alert about their water, electricity, gas, and solar power usage, cutting extra bill costs at every corner.
Homeowners in smart cities, will achieve these goals as a part of a more engaged, environmentally conscious community,' he added.
Sebastien Dui said SureFlow products and smart cities are interconnected and the consumers are direct beneficiary of this sustainable ecosystem.

60% of UAE travellers rely on AI to plan trips, human connection remains vital
Post Views: 41 According to a recent report by Tourism Economics on behalf of Arabian Travel Market (ATM), 60% of travellers in the UAE trust Artificial Intelligence (AI) to plan every aspect of their trips, compared to 48% of travellers in other countries, with this figure predicted to rise as technology becomes more embedded into consumer habits. According to the report, AI is becoming a key tool for travellers planning trips to the Middle East. Nearly six in ten have used AI for travel planning, with 21% using it before their most recent trip. As AI adoption grows, it is expected to play an increasing role in delivering personalised recommendations and booking experiences for tech-savvy travellers. The research also confirmed that travel firms are harnessing AI to enhance customer service and drive economic impact. Travel technology is transforming the industry globally, changing the way travellers plan, book, and experience their journeys. In line with the digital transformation within travel and tourism, ATM 2025 provided a platform for experts across the technology, hospitality and events industries to discuss the implications for human connection as AI-powered tools, personalised service platforms, and data-led design become more prevalent. Speaking during the event, Amy Read, VP Innovation at Sabre Hospitality, said: 'It is important to recognise that human connection is at the core of hospitality. When we think about innovation within hospitality, we try to find ways that amplify those key moments, rather than replace them. We want to free up staff time so that they can engage in more meaningful interactions.' Read acknowledged that it is vital for the industry to recognise that technology has changed guests' expectations of hospitality providers as they now seek instant gratification and swift responses. This has led to the development of innovative solutions such as SynXis Concierge AI, which uses generative AI to transform customer service for hoteliers, providing immediate, detailed, and accurate responses to specific queries, reducing the reliance on individual staff knowledge and ensuring consistent, high-quality service around the clock. Other examples include Miral's AI concierge, Majd Al, which is utilised at attractions such as Yas Bay Waterfront and Ferrari World Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The service offers tailored suggestions based on individual preferences, helping visitors maximise their experience.

OpenAI launches two new AI models that can be customised
ChatGPT maker OpenAI has launched two new "open" artificial intelligence (AI) models that can be customised and run locally on a laptop, the company said on Tuesday. Dubbed "gpt-oss-120b" and "gpt-oss-20b," the two models are so-called "open-weight language models" which allow users to access the AI's parameters and customise them, in a departure from the company's ChatGPT bot, which is based on a "closed" model. Such models are often used by companies who use the AI tailored to their needs on their own servers. OpenAI did not say which data were used to train the new models. GPT-oss-120b can run on a graphics card, while the slimmer GPT-oss-20b version can run on a laptop with 16 gigabytes of RAM, allowing OpenAI to offer its language models for a wider range of devices. Like other text-generating AI tools, GPT-oss-120b and GPT-oss-20b are able to write code and research online when prompted. Follow Emirates 24|7 on Google News.

Vodafone Ukraine launches university 5G open space
Vodafone Ukraine and the Kyiv Aviation Institute (KAI) have partnered to launch the country's first university-based 5G open space. This initiative is aimed with expanding access to advanced mobile connectivity. Deployed using Nokia equipment, the 5G network provides stable indoor coverage across the first and second floors of KAI's main academic building in Kyiv. The zone is open to the public and accessible to anyone with one of the operator's SIM cards and a 5G-compatible device. In its announcement, Vodafone Ukraine explained that until now 5G infrastructure in Ukraine has largely been limited to operator offices and industrial testbeds. The installation at KAI marks the first deployment of the technology on a university campus, offering students, the organisation and visitors direct access to advanced connectivity. Vodafone Ukraine CEO Olga Ustinova said 'a similar open 5G zone already operates in our Kyiv office, and we are happy to share cutting-edge technologies with the next generation of engineers, inventors, and entrepreneurs,' adding the operator continues to gear up for a wider 5G rollout. In addition to the 5G zone, Vodafone Ukraine and KAI are launching a joint master's program in Big Data and Data Science, with training provided by industry specialists from the former's Big Data Lab. The partners also plan to establish a large-scale research lab with advanced technology on campus. Source: Mobile World Live Image Credit: Stock Image
