A German tourist has singled out the foods she's become 'addicted' to since arriving in Australia.
Julia Kiehlmann, who is currently based in Brisbane, Queensland, shared a series of viral TikTok videos detailing the foodie finds she can't get enough of in Oz.
Perhaps surprisingly, many of the meals and snacks highlighted are widely available, affordable and accessible all around Australia.
Her latest popular post, titled: 'Food I never knew I needed…until I moved to Australia' has attracted almost 150,000 views.
The slideshow-style video shared to her @julexkhl account sees the 27-year-old highlight four of her favourite locally-found foods - with one of them being an own-brand sweet treat stocked at Woolworths Australia stores.
Sharing a picture of the supermarket's bakery section, Julia named 'Woolies cookies' as a standout.
'These cookies are criminally good,' she wrote.
The tourist added: 'My favourite is Dreamy Choc Chip, no question'.

Woolworths Dreamy Choc Chip Cookies are sold in a five-pack for $3.80, equating to 76 cents per cookie.
Many commenters agreed that the major Aussie supermarket produced 'elite' bargain cookies.
'Yesss the Woolies Cookies,' read one excited reply, while others recommended she also check out the store's Anzac variety.
Julia's next foodie pick was acai bowls. The tourist said she'd spotted stores selling the cool treat on practically 'every corner' and could easily eat 'one daily'.
The smoothie-like dish is made from frozen acai berries and comes topped with fruits and granola.
'Acai is from Brazil, but here in Australia there are more [stores] than in Brazil,' replied one person in the video comments.
Other acai lovers agreed they too wished they could eat the 'guilty pleasure' everyday - with some noting that the prolific nature of acai bowl stores in Australia was a relatively new phenomenon.
The next food find on Julia's local list was Aussie-originated takeaway spot, Fishbowl.
'Sushi? Salad? Both? Whatever it is… I'm addicted' Julia wrote in the post.
The healthy takeaway chain store is renowned for their signature salad and protein poke bowls and has locations in Queensland, Victoria and New South Wales.
But it was Julia's final Aussie food find that really ignited the comments section of her post: the Aussie cob loaf dip.
Julia wrote: 'Cob loaf. Who invented this? And how do I thank them personally?'
Many of the comments praised the tourist's inclusion of the scooped out round bread filled with creamy cheesy dip, which is often served at social gatherings like parties and picnics.
The traveller added in the comments that it was a unique food that she'd never come across in any other country.
'Cob loaf should be our national dish,' confirmed one Aussie's reply to the video.
Another added: 'Always have to bring at least two to a BBQ because the first one gets demolished in seconds.'
Overall, many replies from Aussies praised the German tourist for putting together a 'good list' of beloved Australian-found foods.
'Shhh don't tell anyone we like to keep this stuff to ourselves,' one replied.
However a few commenters felt the visitor had missed a couple of crucial must-tries.
One recommended that Julia next sample Vegemite, avocado and cheese on toast.
'Trust me,' they said.
Another was surprised at a glaring omission, writing: 'No Bunnings snag?'
On the subject of Woolies, in addition to their cookies, several commenters recommended the tourist next needed to give the 'iconic' Woolworths Mud Cake a whirl.
'Dare I say, just as good as the cookies,' read one recommendation.

I am a Sydneysider, but I've spent my fair share of time exploring the weird and wonderful streets of Melbourne. So I was delighted when I stumbled upon the entrance to one of my (now) favourite stay-cay hotels tucked down one of its iconic laneways - an even greater surprise considering it sits within a soaring skyscraper in the CBD. voco Melbourne Central impressed me from the outset. The understated alleyway entrance opens into a contemporary space with smokey-blue tones, clever design, a sparkling infinity pool and an immaculately presented breakfast buffet. Oh and the bathrooms, with floor-to-ceiling views of Melbourne's glittering skyline, are among the most striking in the country. Their secret? A focus on 'me-time' for special occasions. voco is purpose-built for staycations, offering a sense of escape from the moment you step into the lift. Despite its 252 rooms, it feels boutique - prioritising the essentials: supremely comfortable beds, excellent showers, warm and attentive customer service and memorable dining. To enhance the experience they've introduced two staycation packages for solo travellers or locals: Reset and Escape NOMO [night on my own]. Reset is about rejuvenation and features a two-hour massage and facial nearby, while Escape is culture-focused and offers a personalised itinerary of Melbourne's best shows, exhibitions and immersive activities, including tickets to the city's latest events. Both are around $500 depending on room type and availability, and include breakfast in bed, a bottle of Dal Zotto Prosecco on arrival, and a late checkout of 4pm. My favourite part was the inclusion of a self-care kit containing a Victoria's Secret Australia fragrance mist, hydrating face mask, reflection journal and curated Spotify playlist - the perfect additions to a restful night in. Bookings are available until August 31 for those looking for a cosy winter recharge. Honestly, just what the doctor ordered. The breakfast buffet was divine and laid out in a way that prevented guests from 'bunching' or feeling crowded by each other. The breakfast in bed offering was pretty special too A slice of Paris arrives in the Sydney CBD Following the success of its sister venue in Milson's Point, Loulou Bistro has finally arrived in Sydney's Martin Place. The beloved bistro is offering guests a little Parisian flair in the form of $2 snail (and oyster) happy hour, re-imagined French classics and a 350-label strong wine list across two levels of glorious dining. Sat right above the Metro for easy access, the gorgeous escape is open breakfast through dinner, serving up mouthwatering treats like sourdough crumpets, a steak frites baguette and indulgent creme caramels. 'We knew we had something special with Loulou in Milsons Point - a place where traditional French technique meets relaxed, neighbourhood spirit,' Ned Parker, the Head Chef, says. Here they'll be offering $2 escargots, $2 oysters, a cheeseburger Royale and frites ($18), and French cocktail favorites - including $13 mini martinis, the signature Kir Royale, made with house forged dark berry cassis, plus Burgundy and house wines. Délicieuse! Aussie chef and restaurateur Luke Mangan, of Luke Mangan & Company and Luke's Kitchen, tells me all the off-duty dining haunts he's loving right now. Favourite restaurant in Sydney right now? I am really enjoying Eleven Barrack. It has a great energy, great service and a menu that is thought through, without trying too hard. You can feel the passion behind it! The most underrated hole-in-the-wall spot you've found? Kindred in Darlington is a real gem. It's a little pasta spot that flies under the radar, but the food is consistent and done really well. Your go-to coffee joint? Workshop Espresso on George Street [in the Sydney CBD]! I love the buzz, the coffee is always spot on and that little standing only table outside has a bit of history for me - it's actually where I had the very first meeting with the government to discuss closing George Street for our Long Lunches. So there is a bit of caffeine and nostalgia with every visit. Best meal you've eaten this month? I just had a great lunch at Bistro Molines. We sat outside, had a long, wine-filled afternoon. The food was bang on, as always. It is my go-to spot in the Hunter Valley. Hard to beat that produce, views and hospitality combo. Most memorable holiday meal this year? Labart in Burleigh. It was my first time there and I was so impressed. The food was full of flavour, and the service hit that perfect balance of relaxed and professional. A great example of what Queensland dining does well. The one neighbourhood favourite you'll ALWAYS go back to? Catalina is one of those places I will always go back to. I really enjoy the balcony where I normally have a glass of wine, enjoy some great snacks and take in the surroundings. It's a Sydney classic for a reason! A dish of your own that you're really excited about right now? Later this month we will be releasing a very exciting Aussie classic-inspired dessert across all of our Luke Mangan & Company venues, including Luke's Kitchen. The dessert, Luke's Golden Biscuit, is inspired by a TimTam but with a nostalgic twist. Donna Hay's life-changing cookware tip Ask anybody I've run into over the past three weeks and they'll confirm I've raved, at some stage, about my new favourite purchase: GreenPan cookware. Enthusiastically recommended to me personally by the queen of cooking herself, Donna Hay, I couldn't help but nab a 10-piece Padova set (in smokey blue) when I spotted it on sale earlier this month. In addition to being easy to clean, non-toxic (ideal given all the forever-chemical chatter of late), PFAS-free, ceramic and non-stick, they are absolutely beautiful and available in on-trend shades with sleek gold handles. My meals have never looked or (depending on who you ask) tasted better. There is something to be said for cooking on a white surface, too - it makes a huge difference. All I can say is thank you Donna. Barangaroo House has transformed into the House of Martinis for August - a buzzing, three-level celebration of the iconic cocktail (made with Grey Goose or Bombay Sapphire). Bespoke and sylish twists on the tipple (crafted by Beverage Manager, Jerom Morris) include lemon drops, appletinis, the Bond-approved Japanese Vesper and, of course, the classic porn star. Deals will be pumping all month - think $10 mini martinis served all day every day, roaming martini carts and ice luges. Love. Australia's first 25hours Hotel Sydney's Oxford Street is about to get a special new addition, with the country's first ever 25hours Hotel, The Olympia, opening on September 25. The quirky name embodies the idea that guests need more than the standard 24 hours in a day to enjoy what the hotels have to offer. Located on the heritage-listed site of the former West Olympia Theatre and the Grand Pacific Blue Room, the hotel pays tribute to these iconic establishments that once shaped the city's art and social scene. Qantas was back in the spotlight this week with news that affected members of its frequent flyer program. The airline has made significant changes to its loyalty program, effectively devaluing its frequent flyer points. While we don't know the full extent or the specifics of the changes, airline loyalty program experts estimate a 20% average increase in the number of points needed to redeem a seat. Qantas has given us a few examples, including that a Classic Rewards economy seat on a Sydney-Melbourne flight has risen to 9,200 points plus $55 in fees, from 8,000 points plus $55 in fees. So, will the Qantas promise of more rewards seats available to flyers make the additional expense worth it? Or are people better off spending their points on shopping instead of flights? Flagging the changes in January, the chief executive officer of the frequent flyer program, Andrew Glance, said: 'A lot has changed in the last six years.' He suggested the changes would mean the airline could increase the number of Classic Rewards and Classic Plus Rewards seats available to be booked with frequent flyer points. Qantas has for some time fielded complaints about the scarcity of Classic Rewards seats in general, especially in premium classes. The airline has acknowledged the changes would force many members to spend more points and more cash on fees. However, Qantas said it hadn't adjusted the value of its loyalty scheme since 2019, and that the August changes were only the second since 2004. Daniel Sciberras, who works for the guide website Point Hacks, says the latest increase is 'relatively reasonable', even if customers aren't happy about it, because the program 'needs to remain viable'. In his view, this is because the average 15% to 20% jump in the number of points needed to book flights works out to about a 2% to 3% rise a year since 2019 – roughly in line with inflation. The specifics of what each Classic Rewards seat will cost under the new scheme have not yet been revealed. However, Sciberras says his tips for consumers in general haven't changed. He says there's no difference to 'the general rule' – that redeeming points for premium seats on long-haul fights is the 'best bang for your point'. 'So, you're still going to get great value when it comes to flights, especially in those long-haul premium cabins.' He says people are generally better off redeeming points on business-class seats than paying for an economy seat and using points to get an upgrade. His advice remains the same when it comes to domestic bookings too: use your points on routes with less competition. Sciberras says this is because busy domestic routes with lots of competition – such as flights between Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide – generally have lower ticket prices. The amount of points needed to redeem a seat is fixed, and based on distance, he says. This means you're better off using points to book domestic flights that would otherwise be more expensive, such as to destinations like Hamilton Island, Uluru or Broome. Not if you want to get the best value for money, Sciberras says. 'You're always going to get more value by redeeming your points for flights than other things: accommodation, car hire, anything from the shopping mall,' he says. This is because points – when worked out in dollar terms – end up being worth more when used to book flights, he says. Sciberras says points usually work out to be about 1c in value when used to book flights. 'But … if you want to get a $50 gift card, it'll be like 10,000 points, right? That gives you half a cent in value,' he says. 'Short-haul domestic might be only around 0.7c per point, so it's not much more. But if you're going international first class, you could get 4c or 5c in value, or even more per point.'

‘Travel inspires my food': how a globetrotting influencer brings the flavours of the world home

I travel for food. It's usually the first reason I'd want to go to a destination – maybe I've seen a dish, some cuisine or produce that I'm intrigued by. It inspires me to research the place and build up an itinerary based on what I want to eat. For example, I've got some family in Hong Kong, so I often go on trips there. I love wonton noodles and I'll plan a whole day around trying different noodles all across Hong Kong. What to eat is everything. My background is Cantonese and I've always interpreted love and the reason for living through my stomach. I grew up in a Chinese takeaway in a tiny village on the south coast of England. My parents worked super long hours, six days a week. On their day off, they always made sure that we had a family meal out to try different cuisines. My curiosity comes from learning about food with them at an early age, being inquisitive about different cultures. I'm so grateful to them for that. My parents aren't the type to ever verbally express love, so that was their way of making sure we knew we were loved and felt taken care of. Everyone can communicate through cooking – there might be common ingredients or techniques that connect us and transcend language barriers. Food is a beautiful way of being able to travel from the comfort of your home. Travel is such a privilege and one not everybody has. Being introduced to different flavours and seasonings helps you feel transported to a place without having to physically be there. When I find myself in between holidays, my groceries become my travel plans. I add slow-roasted peppers or 'nduja to take me to southern Europe. Or maybe some chimichurri if I want to pop over to Argentina. It's a way to introduce your taste buds to the flavour palette of that cuisine or region, using bits you can find on Ocado. If I'm feeling particularly adventurous (or ravenous) I might combine regions, and travel the world in one sitting. An around-the-world tapas, if you will. Ocado has a huge variety of globally inspired products so it's my go-to shopping destination when I fancy a culinary adventure. It really is a dream travel buddy. I went on a girls' trip to Okinawa in Japan with my mum and my two sisters a year and a half ago. I had some of the best-tasting vegetables I've ever eaten. Okinawan food culture is similar to Cantonese – very minimal seasoning. Every dish was delightfully light but also so full of flavour, and that goes for their barbecued and grilled food too, which I love. The meat is just so fresh and they pair really beautiful fruits with meat. Like taking bitter gourd, a really bitter kind of melon, and then combining it with fatty slices of pork belly seared on the barbecue. Delicious! There's a massive barbecue culture in both Japan and Korea. The focus is on the quality of the beef and pork. Take Japanese wagyu – the fat and marbling gives it a unique, tender texture and flavour. Over in Korea, you have incredible marinades, which can be a lot sweeter and stickier than what we might typically have at British barbecues. For my holiday at home tapas, I would use spicy Korean chilli paste (gochujang) to marinate skewers of pork belly with cherry tomatoes and courgette. I use such a wide range of ingredients that gathering what I need for recipes can be time consuming, but with the range at Ocado I can pretty much find anything I need and add it alongside all my usual groceries. I just got back from an island-hopping holiday where I got engaged (in Santorini!) so it's a very special place for me. A lot of my love for Mediterranean and southern European food is in the sun-soaked ingredients, like olive oil and olives, that are so integral to the cuisines of the various cultures. Think sweet, slow-roasted tomatoes with a glass of sparkling wine or a local crisp white wine with seafood. In southern Europe and the Med, you have time to properly relax over sundowner drinks and small, snacky plates of whatever's fresh that day. You can feel the attitude towards life in how they enjoy the food and drink. The way peri peri, the spicy chilli sauce, is incorporated into South African cuisine is fascinating – the flavours are used generously across South African grills and barbecues. I researched the history behind the sauce and discovered that peri peri has travelled the world. There's inspiration from Angola and Mozambique – those spices and bold flavours. Here in the UK, peri peri is associated with a cheeky Nando's. Sometimes we can take a dish for granted and we don't think about the journey it's made across centuries to land on our plate. But when you learn about it, it's fascinating. But I was humbled and learned that's just what Brits do. You're actually meant to savour it and sip it.
