Census of minor irrigation projects to begin soon in Cuddalore
The seventh census of Minor Irrigation Projects will begin soon in Cuddalore district..
According to Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, the objective of Rationalisation of Minor Irrigation Statistics (RMIS) is to build a comprehensive and reliable database in the minor irrigation sector for future planning.
The census is conducted once in every five years covering all groundwater and surface water minor irrigation schemes. The data collection will be completed with the support of village administrative officers and workers of urban local bodies.
Once the data collection and compilation is completed, an accurate figure will be available about the total number of dug wells, shallow tube wells, medium tube wells, deep tube wells, surface flow, and surface lift.

Collector reviews monsoon preparedness in TN's Cuddalore district
CUDDALORE: A review meeting to assess preparedness for the 2025 southwest monsoon was held at the collectorate conference hall under the chairmanship of Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar. The Collector said, "As the Southwest Monsoon is set to begin, Village Administrative Officers must identify low-lying areas prone to water stagnation and issue public advisories. Details of first informants on waterlogging should be recorded. Around 5,000 first responders will be positioned at the revenue village and taluk levels, and 800 at the district level." He instructed, "Zonal Officers and Tahsildars should jointly identify vulnerable areas and take preventive measures. VAOs, village assistants, assistant agricultural officers, village health nurses, and voluntary organisations must coordinate with village-level committees for flood relief." The collector added, "In flood-prone areas, people must be relocated to safe shelters and provided with essentials. Relief materials should be kept ready and special care must be given to the elderly and persons with disabilities." He further said, "Waterbodies must be inspected and embankments strengthened. Sluice gates must be repaired. Equipment such as tree-cutting machines, JCBs, flashlights, water pumps, and bleaching powder should be stocked. Fire and health personnel must raise public awareness. Water tanks must be cleaned and chlorinated. Sewage contamination must be prevented. Disinfectants should be sprayed in stagnant areas."

Public asked to update pattas with names of legal heirs or rightful owners
The district administration has urged the public to remove the names of deceased landowners from pattas and update them with the names of legal heirs or rightful owners. In a release, Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar said land records in both rural and urban areas of the district have been digitised and made accessible to the public in both viewable and printable formats through the website However, in many pattas, the names of deceased landowners have not been removed, and the names of their legal heirs or rightful owners have not yet been included. This can be done by submitting the necessary documents either through e-sevai centres or the Citizen Portal. These applications will be reviewed by the respective Village Administrative Officers, and appropriate changes to the pattas will be made based on submitted documents,

Cuddalore ranks fifth among government schools in class 12 board exams
CUDDALORE: Cuddalore district has secured the fifth position among government schools at the state level in the Class 12 board exams, Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar announced on Thursday. Addressing the media at the collectorate, he said, 'Cuddalore achieved a pass percentage of 96.06%. This places the district in the 10th position across the state, including both government and private schools, and 5th position among government schools alone.' He stated that this is an improvement from the previous year. 'Last year, Cuddalore ranked 22nd among all schools and 23rd among government schools in the state. To improve the pass percentage, the School Education Department took several steps. Students who failed in only one subject last year were identified and given special coaching, which contributed to the improved success rate,' he said. He also mentioned the implementation of a special initiative. 'A programme titled Victory Over Obstacles was introduced to assist students who were unable to attend school regularly due to economic or other reasons. Special groups were formed to track their attendance, and targeted coaching was provided to help them pass the exams.' He added, 'To increase enrolment in government schools and support students, the government has launched various special programmes. Under the Summer Learning Festival, students are being trained in spoken English, photography, digital arts, French, culinary skills, pottery, chess, web designing, basic computer programming, swimming, horse riding, archery, arts, and painting.' 'These efforts are expected to further boost enrolment in government schools,' he said.
