CUDDALORE: District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar on Wednesday inaugurated the 'Tamil Dream - Tamil Heritage and Culture' promotion programme at Annamalai University, Chidambaram. 'Among the world's flourishing cultures, Tamil culture stands foremost in its richness and heritage. To convey its greatness and the challenges to students, the Tamil Virtual Academy, in collaboration with the Higher Education Department, has been conducting the Great Tamil Dream Heritage and Culture Promotion Programme in previous years. Following the Tamil Nadu CM's annual programme announcement, this programme is being conducted among college students on behalf of the Higher Education Department and the Directorate of Collegiate Education.' Siddha doctor K Sivaraman delivered a special lecture, stating, 'This programme aims to create awareness among college students about Tamil heritage, culture, ancient traditions, linguistic excellence, equality, and socio-economic progress, guiding Tamil youth towards their future goals and building a prosperous society. From the Sangam era, Tamil society has excelled in arts, literature, and science. Through the Thirukkural, poet-saint Thiruvalluvar taught the world about equality over 2,000 years ago. Ancient Tamil society was an advanced one, particularly excelling in medicine and education." 'In Keezhadi excavation, inscriptions have been found on pottery, suggesting that farmers, potters, and artisans were all part of a literate society. As descendants of such a refined civilisation, it is our duty to pass on the pride of the Tamil language to future generations.' he added The programme was also addressed by Aranga Paari, Head of the Department of Indian Languages at the University. FMD vaccination for cattle begins in Cuddalore district

The seventh round of vaccination of cattle for foot and mouth disease began in the district on Wednesday. The exercise will be held for 21 days. The drive is being carried out in villages across the district where special camps would be held from 6 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Animal Husbandry department officials said that all necessary logistics were in place to ensure cent per cent coverage of the targeted cattle population of 3.59 lakh in the district. The vaccination drive carried out under the National Animal Disease Prevention Programme was inaugurated at B. Mutlur in Cuddalore district by the District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar.

CUDDALORE: Welfare assistance worth Rs 30.09 crore was distributed to 2,254 beneficiaries as part of the third phase of special camps under the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme in Cuddalore district. The event, inaugurated by Labour Welfare and Skill Development Minister CV Ganesan on Thursday was held in the presence of Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar, Cuddalore MP MK Vishnu Prasad, and Neyveli MLA Saba Rajendran. The camps were organised at Thiruvamur Government Higher Secondary School, Visur Union Middle School, Kattukoodalur Government Higher Secondary School, R Kannusamy Higher Secondary School in Kadampuliyur, and Pattirakottai Government Higher Secondary School. Minister Ganesan said, 'To simplify access to government services and ensure timely delivery, the Chief Minister launched the Makkaludan Mudhalvar scheme. In Cuddalore district, two phases have already been completed. Under the third phase, 90 camps—10 in each Assembly constituency—are being held in panchayat areas with higher Scheduled Caste populations. So far, 20 camps have been completed, and five are being conducted today in the Neyveli constituency.' The minister further said, 'These camps bring various government departments to a single location near the people's residences in rural areas. Citizens can submit petitions for services such as old-age pension, patta transfer, Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme card, family card, Aadhaar correction, and financial assistance. All petitions will be reviewed, and eligible ones will be addressed within 30 days.'

Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar has directed quarry and crusher unit owners to obtain permission from the Department of Geology and Mines for storage and transportation of M-sand and gravel. As per the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Illegal Mining Transportation and Storage of Minerals and Mineral Dealers Rules, 2011, quarry and crusher units required appropriate permission from the district administration for storing M-sand and gravel and also for transporting them. Further, as the transit pass system for transporting M-sand and gravel comes into effect from June 12, quarry and crusher units have been instructed to furnish the required details on . Following registration, a free transit pass would be issued which could be used for transporting M-sand and gravel materials. For further details, applicants can contact the Department of Geology and Mining office on the Collectorate premises.

CUDDALORE: District Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar conducted a detailed inspection of ongoing development projects across Veppur, Tittakudi and Vriddhachalam taluks on Sunday. He reviewed road infrastructure works being undertaken by the Highways Department, including widening of roads, conversion of single-lane to dual carriageways, curve improvement, installation of speed warning signs, and painting of speed control markings. 'Road safety is being prioritised to reduce accidents and ensure smooth traffic,' he said. In Vriddhachalam taluk, he inspected the four-laning of the bypass road, including flyover construction, medians and side retaining walls. At Uchimedu on the Vriddhachalam–Pennadam stretch, retaining walls are being built at Rs 1.42 crore. Widening and minor bridge works on the 2.6-km V Agaram–Nandimangalam–Arungeri road are under way at Rs 3.3 crore. He urged officials to ensure quality and avoid public inconvenience.
