This is a significant decision by the government as it has been taken for the first time after the formation of Telangana. The government issued the GO in this regard on Tuesday. All of them have been appointed as Principals of government medical colleges and Superintendents of teaching hospitals across the state.
The process of promoting 308 people working as associate professors to professors has reached its final stage. In the wake of the completion of the ADME posting process, the government would soon give postings to those promoted as professors, said the official. With these promotions, the problem of shortage of professors and department HODs in all colleges will be solved.
The Health Department has initiated steps to promote about 278 assistant professors to associate professors. Since there was no possibility of direct recruitment for posts like Associate Professor, Professor, Additional DME, these posts are being filled through promotions. In addition, the Finance Department has approved the filling of about 714 more posts. These posts will also be filled soon.
The professors promoted above, have been asked to join the promotion post within a period of 15 days from the date of receipt of the orders of promotion. If they fail to join the new post within the said time limit or evade joining the post by proceeding on leave, they shall forfeit their promotion for the current panel year in terms of Rule 11 (b) of TS State and Subordinate Service Rules, 1996. 6. The Director of Medical Education has been asked to take necessary action to relieve the officers with immediate effect, by making internal arrangements.

Surrogacy racket: Min Satyakumar Yadav orders review of fertility centres across Andhra Pradesh
VIJAYAWADA: Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav has ordered a thorough review of fertility centres across Andhra Pradesh following reports of irregularities at a facility in Hyderabad. Concerned by discrepancies, the minister instructed officials to examine the functioning of all fertility clinics and submit a detailed report on licensing, inspections, operations, and regulatory compliance. According to official sources, there is a mismatch between the number of fertility centres licensed by District Medical and Health Officers (DMHOs) and those listed online, suggesting the presence of unauthorised facilities. Minister Yadav reminded that DMHOs are responsible for issuing licences and overseeing daily operations of hospitals and fertility centres. He warned of strict action against clinics operating without valid licences or violating health protocols. The minister called for a district-wise report detailing licensed and unlicensed centres, inspections conducted in 2024–25, violations found, complaints received, actions taken, and centres denied permission. Urgency intensified after a surprise inspection at Universal Health Care Centre in Vijayawada by NTR District DMHO Dr Suhasini. The centre, sanctioned under the name Namrata, was closed, and its doctor was recently arrested for alleged violations. A preliminary report was submitted to the minister's office.

Surrogacy-trafficking ring: Health authorities find illegal equipment
HYDERABAD: The Health department on Monday said that a joint investigation was carried out by the Medical & Health Department, police, Task Force, DM&HO, RDO and other officials into the alleged irregularities at Srushti Fertility Centre. Search and seizure operations were conducted on Saturday (July 26), revealing that the clinic's Clinical Establishment Act and PCPNDT registrations had expired. It was also found that the centre was not registered under the National and State ART & Surrogacy Registry. Officials discovered unregistered ultrasound machines, an unlicenced pharmacy, a functional operation theatre with laparoscopic and IVF equipment and recent oocyte retrieval records along with liquid nitrogen tanks. The department said it is strictly enforcing the Assisted Reproductive Technology & Surrogacy (Regulation) Act, 2021. So far, 381 ART clinics/banks, including surrogacy centres, have been registered across Telangana. It urged people to use services only at registered centres, including two ART clinics set up in government medical college hospitals.
