Ubon SP-85 bluetooth speaker review: Music, style on a budget
When you are looking for a speaker to kickstart a party, accompany your road trips or simply fill your outdoor gatherings with high-energy sound, you need a speaker that lasts your energy. Sometimes a good speaker comes with a hefty price tag but domestic brand
Ubon
has launched SP-85 bluetooth speaker that – at a price of Rs 1,699 – brings 30W output, immersive audio and all things necessary for on-the-go fun. Let's dive into what makes the Ubon SP-85 stand out.
Design and portability
The first thing we noticed a minimalistic design with a robust build. Available in bold dual-colour options like Black with Orange controls or Black with Grey accents, it certainly looks the part of a modern party speaker. The sides have a designer rubbery design, giving it a premium feel that's often missing in budget-friendly alternatives, adding a touch of durability and sophistication.

But a party speaker isn't much fun if you can't easily take it with you. The Ubon SP-85 gets a carry strap that can be adjusted according to the need, making it convenient for transport. Whether you're slinging it over your shoulder for a picnic, carrying it to a friend's house, or simply moving it from one room to another, the belt makes it effortless.
On the top are the buttons for Play/Pause, Power On/Off and controls for volume and tracks. Connectivity is versatile and hassle-free. The speaker features Bluetooth v5.3 and pairing it with smartphone or other devices is quick and straightforward. Beyond Bluetooth, the SP-85 offers multi-input support, which is a huge plus. Users can play music directly from a USB drive, a TF card or AUX port.
Performance
Now, for the most crucial aspect of any speaker: how it sounds. The Ubon SP-85 boasts a 30W output, and it delivers. For its size, this speaker can get loud, making it genuinely suitable for filling a room or an outdoor space with music. The audio profile is geared towards a high-energy experience, with a focus on bass and clear vocals, which is exactly what you want for party tracks.
For example, we listened to some songs, including 295 by Sidhu Moose Wala, Tauba Tauba by Karan Aujla, Millionaire by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Sher Khul Gaye from Fighter and more. We found that the output is loud with clear vocals. Notably, the speaker itself it didn't rumble but it threw a bass-y effect to keep the essence of party songs alive.
While it might not satisfy the audiophile looking for nuanced soundscapes, for its intended purpose—parties, road trips, and casual listening—it performs admirably. The sound remains relatively clear even at higher volumes (up to 80%), avoiding excessive distortion, which is a common pitfall for many portable speakers.
Battery
Nothing kills a party faster than a dead battery. Thankfully, the Ubon SP-85 is built for endurance. Equipped with a 4000mAh battery, it is claimed to offer a 20-hour playtime. During our review, the claims turn out to be somewhat true. Notably, the playtime depends on volume you play your music on. Higher volume, higher the power draw.
Verdict
At a price of Rs 1,677, the Ubon SP-85 30W Party Speaker positions itself as a robust, no-nonsense option for those who love their music loud and on the move. Its combination of loud sound, long battery life, and versatile connectivity options makes it a strong contender in the portable speaker market.
For its price point, the SP-85 offers excellent value, delivering on its promise of high-energy sound perfect for various settings. If you're looking for a reliable, easy-to-carry speaker that can keep the party going for hours, the Ubon SP-85 is definitely worth considering.

India will be among biggest contributors to our growth in long run: Amazon's Samir Kumar
Agencies Samir Kumar, Country head, Amazon India India is expected to become one of the largest contributors to Amazon's long-term growth, its country head Samir Kumar said on Wednesday, adding that the ecommerce giant is doubling down on its focus in the market, where it is investing billions of dollars. India is still not as deeply penetrated in terms of online consumption and therefore, presents a "very large opportunity" for Amazon, Kumar, who is now helming operations here as the country manager of Amazon India, told PTI in an interview. It is pertinent to mention that Amazon has committed to significant investment in its India infrastructure, about Rs 2,000 crore for 2025 alone. It has previously outlined a broader investment pledge of $26 billion by 2030, with close to $15 billion between 2023 and 2030. Kumar said India is among the fastest-growing markets for the company."And we are a big believer that in the long run, India will be one of the biggest contributors to our growth," Kumar said, but did not give a is still not deeply penetrated in terms of consumption, he said, adding that while users are online, buying products and watching videos, there is a huge headroom for growth when it comes to online shoppers."...not everyone is shopping online. If you look at just mobile phone penetration, maybe it is close to a billion people, who have mobile phones, but only 100 million plus of them are shopping online. So, the next 200 million (that the company is aspiring to reach) are going to be part of that," he pointed the economy grows, and so does consumption, and as GDP per capita rises, India is poised to have "many more consumers who will value the convenience of shopping online", Kumar noted."We have seen this phenomenon around the world. So, we have a very large opportunity still remaining in India. We have 1.4 billion people," he company has set its sights on what Kumar describes as a broader 'Bharat', living in tier II, III cities and beyond."Let's take a good chunk of that and make sure that they are able to come online, shop online, get the best value, and get the fastest delivery possible. And with that, I believe there's a big opportunity. So, beyond the tier I cities, there's a huge opportunity in 'Bharat', which is like tier II, III cities, where we are seeing very deep penetration now starting to happen," he said. For Amazon, part of that optimism also comes from Prime Day sales indicators. "In fact, if you look at the Prime Day performance that we just concluded, almost 70% of new Prime customers or Prime members came from these smaller cities. If you look at our sellers who participated in Prime Day, almost 60 to 75% of them got a sale from the smallest town and city. So, I think India is growing," he declined to give a breakdown of India numbers, but said it is "definitely one of our fastest growing markets, continues to be"."And we continue to see the growth of India," he is "happy" with the progress that it has made so far, but believes "there's so much to be done"."We are very, very long-term focused," he how macroeconomic realities, and the trade and tariffs tensions between India and the US are impacting exporters on its platform, Kumar refused to comment on specifics, saying "I am not an expert on tariffs"."...what we building a frictionless and really smooth experience for our sellers, whether it's building the middle mile or the global mile capability for people to take their item and be able to distribute it around the world. "So, we are building that capability. Making it easier for sellers to list their products in one place and go through the regulatory and compliance requirements in each of the marketplaces that we run. So, we are enabling that," he said.
