CM Maryam leaves for Japan on official visit
Senior officials of the Punjab government bid farewell to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Minister for Information and Heritage Azma Zahid Bokhari, Minister C&W Malik Zohaib Bherth, Minister LG Zeeshan Rafiq, Advisor to CM Sania Ashiq, and other officials accompanied the chief minister.
It may be added that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is the first chief minister who is invited to visit Japan officially.
During her stay in Japan, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will attend the World Expo in Osaka. She will visit the cities of Yokohama, Osaka, and Tokyo, where she is scheduled to hold high-level meetings with Japanese business leaders, representatives of major corporations, and government officials.

Remote areas of Punjab: CM directs installation of water filtration plants
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif presided over a special meeting in which progress being made on clean water, water filtration plant and other development projects were reviewed. The Chief Minister was given a detailed briefing about the Model Village project. The meeting also reviewed progress being made on Lahore Development project and Punjab Development project. On this occasion, the proposal to install water filtration plants in the remote areas was also reviewed. The Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has assigned a deadline of 30th June, 2026 regarding the installation of water filtration plants. She emphasized on the early completion of the construction and repair of streets in the Lahore Development Project. Expressing her indignation over delay in the completion of some projects, the CM also reviewed 122 beautification projects in every city of Punjab. 51 beautification projects will be completed in Lahore division, 64 in Rawalpindi, 37 in Faisalabad, 75 in Multan. 45 in Sargodha, 64 in Gujranwala, 51 in DG Khan, 61 in Bahawalpur, 53 in Gujrat and 49 in Sahiwal. The Chief Minister directed to ensure timely completion of all beautification projects. She underscored those public complaints regarding non-availability of drinking water will be redressed on a priority basis. She directed to formulate a regular system for the construction, repair and maintenance of water filtration plants. Japan seeks investment incentives for automakers
Japan has expressed interest in diversifying markets amid global trade risks and underlined the importance of regulatory certainty and targeted investment incentives for Japanese automakers to help them expand exports from Pakistan. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries Haroon Akhtar Khan, along with Pakistan's Ambassador to Japan Abdul Hameed, held a meeting with Japan's Vice Minister for International Affairs, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Matsuo Takehiko in Tokyo. The meeting explored new avenues to strengthen industrial cooperation, with a particular focus on the automotive and IT sectors. It was noted that Pakistan has a large and young population as well as growing market potential, and over 70 Japanese companies are already operating in the country. Discussions covered Pakistan's new industrial policy, which seeks to boost exports, reduce tariffs, streamline regulations and attract greater foreign investment in line with the prime minister's vision for export-led annual economic growth of 6-7%. Global industry trends also came up for discussion along with the Japanese auto industry's focus on biofuels in emerging markets, led by Toyota and Suzuki. Both sides reviewed Pakistan's Auto Industry Development Policy and the planned shift from punitive to incentive-based measures to encourage investment. Opportunities for Japanese investment in Pakistan's automotive and textile sectors, the role of biofuels and the need for regulatory standards in the auto industry were highlighted.
