IATA Training to Deliver Vital Skills for Saudi Aviation - Middle East Business News and Information
In the initial phase, over 1,000 aviation graduates and employees will receive comprehensive skills training, covering a wide range of areas, including airport development, safety, airline management and ground operations.
Today aviation contributes USD 90.6 billion, or 8.5%, to Saudi Arabia's GDP and supports 1.4 million jobs—62,000 of which are directly employed by airlines and 79,000 by the country's airports and air navigation service provider (ANSP). This contribution is expected to ramp up significantly over the next few years, with travel and tourism serving as one of the key pillars of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. To support this growth, the Kingdom has committed to a significant investment to airport infrastructure and fleet renewals.
'Saudi Arabia's aviation sector is undergoing unprecedented growth and transformation. The Kingdom is not only expanding its aviation infrastructure, but it is also investing in its people. This is vital to meet the immediate skills requirements while developing a professional workforce able to deliver on Vision 2030. IATA is working with the country's training community as it establishes Saudi Arabia as a hub of aviation excellence,' said Kamil Al-Awadhi, IATA's Regional Vice President for Africa and Middle East.
The training agreements concluded for 2025 are: Riyadh Airports Company and Qassim University will become Regional Training Partners while Prince Sultan Aviation Academy (PSAA)—a long-standing Regional Training Partner—will add additional courses. Across the three entities, they will offer more than 60 training courses covering airport development and operations, safety, commercial and people skills and ground operations.
IATA will provide industry awareness courses to graduates across Riyadh Air and Saudia Airlines, aimed at attracting and nurturing national talent for future leadership roles within the airlines.
IATA will provide Dangerous Goods Courses to the management and operational personnel of the Saudi Academy of Civil Aviation (SACA).
SAL Saudi Logistics Services has been certified as a CBTA Center while Saudi Ground Services (SGS) renewed both its CBTA Center and Training Validation Program (TVP) certification for its ground operations training program.

The two sides also exchanged views on various regional and international issues of mutual interest. Abdelatty conveyed greetings and appreciation from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to US President Donald Trump, highlighting Egypt's pride in the longstanding strategic partnership with the United States. The minister said he is looking forward to continuing close coordination and cooperation with the US administration to further ties politically, militarily, economically, and security-wise, thus contributing to regional security, stability, and peace during this critical stage in the Middle East. He also expressed desire to continue holding regular rounds of the Egypt-US strategic dialogue. They reviewed ways to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. Abdelatty praised the results of the Egypt-US business forum held in Cairo in May with over 50 American companies participating, 12 of which entered the Egyptian market for the first time, reflecting Egypt's commitment to attracting investments and enhancing economic partnerships with the US. Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordination for new rounds of the joint economic commission meetings and the business forum to broaden economic partnership opportunities. The two sides also reviewed the latest regional developments, topped by the catastrophic situation in Gaza, tragic events in Sudan, and conditions in Libya, Syria, Lebanon, and the Egyptian water security issue. Regarding the Palestinian cause, Minister Abdelatty reiterated the necessity of reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement in Gaza to stem bloodshed and ensure humanitarian aid flows amid the enclave's dire conditions under the Israeli blockade. He emphasized the need to adopt a political horizon for a just and sustainable settlement of the Palestinian cause, including the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borderlines with East Jerusalem (Al Quds) as its capital. He expressed hope for continued close US-Egypt cooperation to establish just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East. Meanwhile, the two sides reviewed the situation in Sudan and underlined the importance of ceasefire and humanitarian aid access. Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's support for Sudan's state institutions and respect for its sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. Regarding Egyptian water security, Minister Abdelatty conveyed Egypt's concerns about Nile water issues and the importance of adherence to international law regarding shared water resources. NEW ALAMEIN, Egypt, July 31 (MENA) - The Coordinating Council for Fiscal and Monetary Policies, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, affirmed during its meeting on Thursday the continuation of a flexible exchange rate system, as well as the implementation of the government's initial public offerings (IPOs) program and the State Ownership Policy Document with a view to generating additional resources to reduce public debt while maintaining competitive market conditions through the Egyptian Competition Authority. Held at the government headquarters in New Alamein City in Egypt's North Coast, the meeting was attended by Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Hassan Abdullah, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation Rania el Mashat, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan el Khatib, economic experts, deputy ministers and senior officials. The meeting highlighted the government's successful progress in paying the petroleum sector's dues to foreign partners according to the set schedule, Cabinet spokesman Mohamed El Homsany said. The meeting also reviewed the key policies and measures taken under the National Structural Reform Program, which is Egypt's main tool for turning economic goals into action, the spokesman added. The program focuses on enhancing macroeconomic stability, boosting economic competitiveness, improving the business climate and supporting green transition, he noted. The council also reviewed Egypt's participation in the UN's Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4) in Spain's Seville city, where Egypt called for enabling private sector participation, increasing foreign investments in developing countries, improving governance in international financial institutions, expanding Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) allocations for developing nations, strengthening the UN's economic role globally, and updating debt sustainability assessment frameworks, the spokesman said. Vietnam President Luong Cuong to start strategic visit to Egypt on Sunday: Ambassador Dung - Foreign Affairs
Vietnamese President Luong Cuong's state visit to Egypt from 3 to 6 August holds strategic significance and is expected to exert a lasting impact on the advancement of bilateral relations, as both nations embark on a new era of growth and development, according to Vietnamese Ambassador to Egypt Nguyen Huy Dung. This would be the first state visit by a Vietnamese president to Egypt in seven years, since President Tran Dai Quang's trip in 2018. In an interview with Vietnam Plus, Dung said the visit is expected to serve as a driving force and open a new phase of cooperation—particularly in the fields of economy and trade—between Vietnam and Egypt, as well as with other African nations. President Cuong is scheduled to hold talks with his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi; meet with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Senate President Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razeq, and House of Representatives Speaker Hanafy El-Gebaly; and deliver a policy speech at the headquarters of the Arab League. He will also meet with staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and relevant agencies, along with representatives of the Vietnamese community in Egypt. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1963, the traditional friendship between the two countries has achieved remarkable progress across various fields, grounded in friendship, equality, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation for the benefit of both peoples. Dung highlighted that Egypt was the first North African country to officially recognize Vietnam as a full market economy in November 2013. Egypt is also an important market for Vietnam in the region, with bilateral trade reaching USD 541.36 million in 2024, the highest in North Africa. Of that amount, Vietnam recorded a trade surplus of USD 472.63 million. Currently, one Vietnamese enterprise is investing in Egypt with a total capital of about USD 30 million, and a Vietnamese garment company has established a joint venture with an Egyptian partner. By the end of 2024, Vietnamese commercial banks had set up 46 dealer relationships with Egyptian banks, with total two-way payment and remittance transactions reaching approximately USD 235 million—the highest in the African region. Meanwhile, Egypt now has 22 investment projects registered in Vietnam, with a total capital of around USD 2.78 million. Dung also pointed to growing cooperation between the two countries' localities and highlighted education collaboration, including scholarships offered by Egypt for Vietnamese students to study Arabic. Within multilateral frameworks, the two nations have maintained close coordination and mutual support at forums such as the United Nations (UN), the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the African Union (AU), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). They continue to coordinate and support each other in multilateral settings while serving as bridges to enhance each other's cooperation with ASEAN and Arab countries, for the benefit of both peoples and peace, cooperation, and development across both regions. He added that Vietnam can access the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) market through Egypt, given its strategic location at the crossroads of Asia, Africa, and Europe. In return, Egypt can regard Vietnam as a gateway to the vast ASEAN market. The two countries also have the potential to serve as strategic bridges between ASEAN and MENA, particularly in the areas of multilateral diplomacy, trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, logistics, culture, education, and tourism, Dung concluded.
