Apple to Make All iPhone 17 Models In India For The First Time: Report
Apple is expanding iPhone production in India across five factories, including two recently opened plants, as part of its effort to reduce reliance on China for US-bound models, Bloomberg reported.
For the first time, all four iPhone 17 models — including the pro-level versions — are being manufactured in India ahead of their launch next month. According to people familiar with the matter cited by Bloomberg, the devices will ship from the South Asian country from day one.
Apple has steadily broadened its local manufacturing base, shifting much of its US-focused iPhone production from China to India to cushion the impact of tariffs, Bloomberg noted.
The expansion covers Tata Group's facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and Foxconn Technology Group's production hub near Bangalore airport, both of which have recently gone live. In a sign of Tata's growing importance as an Apple partner, factories controlled by the conglomerate could account for nearly half of India's iPhone output within the next two years.
India's iPhone exports surged by 53% year-on-year in the first half of 2025, reaching 23.9 million units, up from 15.6 million units in the same period last year.
The United States emerged as the dominant export destination, accounting for 78% of iPhones shipped from India in H1 2025 — an increase from 53% a year earlier. Meanwhile, other key markets such as the Netherlands, UAE, Czech Republic, UK, and Japan saw their shares fall, each contributing just 2-4%.
'Foxconn led with over half the volume, while the Tata Group now accounts for nearly 4 in 10 iPhones exported from India. This shift reflects improving yield rates, line maturity, and Apple's growing confidence in India as a core manufacturing base," said Sanyam Chaurasia, principal analyst at Canalys Omdia.
The ramp-up was initiated by severe COVID-19 lockdowns in China that disrupted operations at Apple's largest plant, compelling the tech giant to reduce its overdependence on the country. A large share of these iPhones are assembled at Foxconn Technology Group's facility in southern India, with Tata Group's electronics arm also emerging as a key contributor.

MNC exec loses Rs 1.6 cr in online stock trading scam
Hyderabad: A 45-year-old senior executive working for an MNC in the city lost 1.6 crore in an online stock trading scam. The victim, a resident of Khajaguda, is working as a director of finance at the company. In her complaint, the victim alleged that on June 7, she received a WhatsApp message from an individual who introduced himself as Abhishek Ummat, a financial assistant, claiming to deliver high returns through intraday trading. On his advice, she joined a WhatsApp group titled 'B13 ASBPL VIP ELITE COMMUNITY'. She clicked a weblink shared by the fraudster and installed an app on her iPhone, which resembled a genuine brokerage company's interface. "The app displayed real-time market feeds, customer-service icons, and posts by investors. On the WhatsApp group, members often posted messages celebrating hefty profits," the victim claimed. Convinced by its 'authenticity', the victim first transferred 50,000 on June 10, followed by another 4.5 lakh over the next three days. On June 16, the fraudsters credited a little over 76,000 into the victim's account to build her trust. Between June 16 and July 3, she went on to transfer an additional 42.6 lakh. As the fake app showed her total earnings as 22 crore, she continued investing and, until Aug 7, transferred about 1.2 crore through RTGS and IMPS into multiple accounts shared by the fraudsters. Pixel 9 vs Pixel 10: Specs, price, features — how different are the two Google flagships?
Google has launched its Pixel 10 series in India powered by the Tensor G5 chipset and running on the latest Android 16 OS. The vanilla Pixel 10 continues to be the cheapest Google flagship with a price tag of ₹ 79,999 and will succeed last year's Pixel 9 in the lineup. But has Google really provided a big upgrade with the Pixel 10, or is the new device just limited to incremental changes? Let's find out in this comparison. Pixel 9 vs Pixel 10: What's different, what's not? Both the Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 come with the same 6.3-inch OLED Actua display offering 60-120Hz refresh rate and 1080 x 2424 resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. The difference lies in brightness — the Pixel 10 now offers 3,000 nits peak brightness and 2,000 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), compared to the Pixel 9's 2,700 nits peak brightness and 1,800 nits HBM. The biggest upgrade on the Pixel 10 is in the battery department. The new model packs a 4,970mAh unit compared to the Pixel 9's 4,700mAh setup. Charging is also slightly faster at 30W wired charging versus 27W on the Pixel 9. Wireless charging remains 15W, but the Pixel 10 now supports the new Qi2 wireless charging standard. The cameras on the Pixel 10 are a bit of a mixed bag compared to the Pixel 9. The Pixel 10 comes with a 48MP primary shooter and a 13MP ultra-wide, while the Pixel 9 offered a 50MP primary and 48MP ultra-wide lens. The front camera remains unchanged at 10.5MP with autofocus support. The silver lining here is the addition of a 10.8MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom — the same sensor found on the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL. The Pixel 10 runs on the new Tensor G5, which, while not on the same level as Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite or Apple's A18, still brings a performance boost over the Tensor G4 on the Pixel 9. Google claims a 60% faster TPU and 34% faster CPU compared to the previous generation. Pixel 9 now starts at ₹ 74,999 in India, while the Pixel 10 begins at ₹ 79,999. Both models ship with the same base configuration of 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
