Why Reggie Wayne is fully committed to coaching with Colts now
INDIANAPOLIS — The man the Colts had to spend half a decade convincing to come back to the sideline has now become a fixture of the Indianapolis coaching staff.
Reggie Wayne is now headed into his fourth season as the Colts wide receivers coach, the man who presided over the construction of a room that produced three receivers with 800 yards or more last season.
Early in his coaching career, Wayne used to joke he was still coaching on a trial basis.
Wayne hasn't made as many of those jokes lately.
'It's a cycle,' Wayne said. 'It's like that Christmas gift that keeps on giving.'

The investment Wayne's made in the Indianapolis receivers is what keeps bringing him back. The Colts keep drafting young wide receivers to place in Wayne's care, and that creates a bond that's hard to break.
'If I dipped, then I'd feel like I'm letting dudes down, and that's never going to end,' Wayne said. 'I just go with the flow.'
By now, Wayne knows he loves coaching.
The only thing that could get him out of the business at this point is his family.

New York Knicks Fire Head Coach Tom Thibodeau
INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA - MAY 25: Head coach Tom Thibodeau of the New York Knicks reacts against the ... More Indiana Pacers during the fourth quarter in Game Three of the Eastern Conference Finals of the 2025 NBA Playoffs at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on May 25, 2025 in Indianapolis, Indiana. (Photo by) After being eliminated in the eastern conference finals this past saturday, the New York Kmicks have decided to relieve head coach Tom Thibodeau of his duties. After 5 seasons and 4 playoff trips, New York has decided to find a new sideline leader for their team. Thibodeau had a record of 2226-174 during his time in New York, and he represented a new era of successful Knicks basketball. When he was hired back in 2020, the Knicks were looking for some direction and identity, and safe to say he provided them with that. The Knicks reached the conference finals for the first time in over two decades under Thibodeau's leadership. New York decided that it was time for a new voice after falling in 6 games to the Indiana Pacers in this year's eastern conference finals. There are plenty of notable head coaches for New York to choose from this offseason, such as former Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, and former Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins. Thibodeau was fired even after Knicks superstar guard Jalen Brunson spoke out in support of him, perhaps signifying that this decision did not involve all the players. Thibodeau was recently extended by the Knicks in 2024, and that contract was set to end in the 2027-28 season, so they will still have to pay that money to him. With the Knicks benign on the cusp of a championship, they are hoping that a new head coach is the final piece that will get them over the championship hump.

Indianapolis to host US Olympic swimming trials again in 2028 after last year's record run
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The 2028 U.S. Olympic swimming trials will return to Indianapolis' Lucas Oil Stadium after drawing record-breaking crowds last year in the first event held inside a football stadium. USA Swimming officials made the announcement Tuesday in Indianapolis where this year's national championships are being held this week. Dates for the event have not yet been announced. Organizers intend to build three temporary pools on top of the NFL's Colts' home field — a 50-meter competition pool and two warm-up pools. The Indiana Convention Center, which is connected to the stadium, will host USA Swimming's Toyota Aqua Zone. Last year, more than 285,000 fans attended the nine-day trials. That was a 60% increase over previous events. Single session records also were shattered as television ratings increased 20% from the previous team trials in 2021. Organizers estimated the event helped generate $132 million in revenue for the city. The 2024 trials also won the annual Fan Engagement Award and were a finalist for Sports Business Journal's event of the year. Indianapolis has a long and storied history with the Olympic swimming trials. The 2028 trials will mark the eighth time the city has hosted the event since 1924 when Johnny Weissmuller and Duke Kahanamoku were the stars. Other familiar names who qualified for the U.S. Olympic teams include Amanda Beard, Janet Evans, Rowdy Gaines, Katie Ledecky, Ryan Lochte, Michael Phelps, Jenny Thompson and Dara Torres. The 2028 Olympics will be held in Los Angeles and could again feature the brother-sister duo of Alex and Aaron Shackell, who swam for nearby Carmel High School. ___ AP sports:
