Al-Duhail part ways with French coach Galtier
Al-Duhail's French manager Christophe Galtier has left the club after they decided not to renew his contract, the Qatar Stars League outfit said on Tuesday.
The 58-year-old's Al-Duhail side finished second in the league, two points behind Al-Sadd, who beat them in the Qatar Cup final on penalties. They also exited the Emir Cup early.
"The management of Al Duhail Sports Club extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to the technical director of the first team, Mr Christophe Galtier, and his coaching staff following the end of his contract with the club. We wish them all the best in their next endeavors," the club said on X.
Al-Duhail appointed former Paris St Germain manager Galtier in October 2023 to replace Argentine Hernan Crespo. REUTERS

Neymar had returned to his boyhood club Santos in January after a stint at Saudi Arabia's Al-Hilal, with his contract at the Brazilian side running until June 30. The red card rules him out of Santos's match against Fortaleza on Thursday, meaning he will only be able to play for the club again if he extends his contract before the league's resumption in July following the Club World Cup. PHOTO: AFP PARIS - French President Emmanuel Macron condemned June 1 'unacceptable' violence during celebrations following Paris Saint-Germain's Champions League final victory, as he welcomed the triumphant team to the Elysee palace. 'Nothing can justify what has happened in the last few hours, the violent clashes are unacceptable,' Macron said. 'We will pursue, we will punish, we will be relentless,' he added before congratulating the players on their win. Two people died and police made nearly 600 arrests across France overnight as fans celebrated PSG's 5-0 triumph over Inter Milan in Munich on May 31. 'The violent clashes that took place are unacceptable and have come at a heavy cost: two people are dead, around 30 police officers and several firefighters have been injured,' Mr Macron said. 'My thoughts are also with the police officer in Coutances who is currently in a coma,' he added, referring to the town in western France where a police officer was struck in the eye by a firework. Mr Macron hosted PSG coach Luis Enrique and his team after their victory parade on the Champs-Elysees avenue, thanking the players for their quick condemnation of the violence. 'These isolated acts are contrary to the club's values and in no way represent the vast majority of our supporters, whose exemplary behaviour throughout the season deserves to be commended,' the club said June 1. "It's unbelievable," said one fan Leo Rogue, 22, standing in the middle of the packed crowd in a vintage PSG top. "I don't have the words ... We've been waiting for this for a long time." Police capped numbers at 100,000 for security reasons. Some youngsters climbed on scaffolding or news stands to better take in the moment. Jamel, 55, was disappointed to be stopped near an entrance to the parade as numbers had reached a maximum, but was not letting that spoil his celebration. "Yesterday I partied and today I'm partying," he said. Wild celebrations erupted across the French capital and beyond on Saturday night, although skirmishes with police later threatened to spoil the party. The club condemned violence on X. "Paris St Germain calls on everyone to show responsibility and respect, for that historic win to remain a moment of pride shared by all," it said.
