TTD to improve facilities on Srivarimettu route
Tirupati: TTD Executive Officer J. Syamala Rao stated that enhanced facilities will be provided along the Srivarimettu footpath route to ensure the convenience of pilgrims walking to Tirumala for Srivari Darshan.
Responding to reports of difficulties faced by pilgrims in obtaining tokens along the Srivarimettu path, the EO, accompanied by Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary and JEO V. Veerabrahmam, conducted an inspection on Tuesday. The EO noted that pilgrims are encountering issues acquiring tokens, and there are complaints that some auto drivers are misusing TTD-provided facilities for personal gain and charging pilgrims excessive fares. He assured that TTD will take steps to address these issues and implement permanent solutions for the benefit of devotees.
He further mentioned that current amenities will be reviewed and improved. This includes considering an increase in the number of buses from Tirupati to the Srivarimettu footpath entrance and expanding the number of token issuance counters.
Feedback from devotees will be gathered and used to develop more robust and pilgrim-friendly facilities.

The issuance process will begin on Friday evening, 6th of the month, and will operate on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to availability. Devotees are required to present their Aadhaar identification to obtain the Divya Darshan tokens, which will then need to be scanned at the 1200th step of Srivari Mettu. Tokens issued on Friday evening will be valid for the following day's darshan. Additionally, the TTD has confirmed that Special Darshan (SSD) tokens will also be available at the Alipiri Bhudevi Complex counters. In light of the expected influx of devotees, the Executive Officer has instructed TTD Vigilance, Security, and local District Police to coordinate measures to ensure safety and manage traffic effectively. A team of officers will be designated to oversee the smooth token issuance process at the new location, ensuring a hassle-free environment for all devotees. To facilitate the transition, TTD will actively publicise the temporary shift of the token counters. Engineering officers have been tasked with creating efficient queue lines for the convenience of pilgrims, while department heads have been urged to maintain high standards of food offerings and cleanliness. The services of Srivari Sevakula volunteers will also be leveraged to assist during this period.

In view of the crowd management and logistical requirements, the counters will be moved to the Bhudevi Complex at Alipiri. The new arrangement will come into effect from Friday evening. The new counters at the Bhudevi Complex would issue the Divya Darshan tokens to the pilgrims who prefer to trek to Tirumala via the Srivari Mettu footpath. Devotees who obtain the tokens must present their Aadhaar cards and scan them at the 1,200th step on the Srivari Mettu route to validate their eligibility. Tokens issued on Friday evening would correspond to darshan slots on Saturday. Simultaneously, the SSD (Sarva Darshan) tokens would also be made available at the designated counters in the Alipiri Bhudevi Complex. To ensure smooth operation and address safety and traffic-related challenges, Mr. Rao directed the Vigilance and Security departments, along with the district police, to take precautionary measures in advance. A dedicated team of officers would be stationed at the Bhudevi Complex to oversee token issuance and ensure that the counters operate efficiently. Clear communication and widespread publicity about the temporary shift in token distribution had also been emphasised to avoid confusion among the devotees. TTD engineering officials had been instructed to establish robust queue systems to manage crowds effectively, and arrangements were being made to provide annaprasadam (free meal) and maintain hygiene. Mr. Rao also called for active involvement of the Srivari Sevaks (volunteers) to support the initiative. Among those present at the meeting were TTD Additional Executive Officer C.H. Venkayya Chowdary, Tirupati JEO V. Veerabrahmam, and in-charge CV&SO of TTD and Tirupati District SP V. Harshavardhan Raju.

SCR adds special trains, extra coaches to manage rush for Srivari Darshan at Tirumala
TIRUPATI: Tirupati Railway Station authorities have intensified measures to manage the summer surge in passenger traffic, particularly devotees heading to Tirumala for Srivari Darshan, by adding coaches to high-demand trains and operating special weekend services. In response, the South Central Railway (SCR) is taking proactive steps to manage the rush by attaching additional coaches to popular trains such as Narayanadri Express, Padmavathi Express, Venkatadri Express, and Rayalaseema Express, which connect Tirupati with major cities, especially Hyderabad. Speaking to TNIE, Tirupati Railway Station Director Kuppala Sathya Narayana said, 'We are monitoring the passenger traffic coming to Tirupati, especially for Srivari Darshan. Depending on the crowd and demand, we are prepared to attach extra sleeper class coaches to regularly operating trains between Tirupati and Hyderabad.' To ease congestion, SCR has introduced three special trains every weekend between Hyderabad and Tirupati, with corresponding return services. The zone has also launched special trains between Tirupati and Visakhapatnam to meet the high demand from coastal Andhra devotees. 'On normal days, Tirupati railway station handles a daily footfall of 60,000 to 80,000 passengers, but this number has seen a sharp increase during the summer vacation. We are taking all measures to ensure a smooth travel experience for passengers,' he added. Ticketing revenue at Tirupati station averages Rs 30 lakh per day and can peak at Rs 40 lakh during weekends and festival periods. Officials expect this upward trend to continue throughout June.
