Tirumala hundi collections jump to July high of Rs 129.45 cr

Tirupati: The coffers of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala recorded a notable rise in hundi collections in July, surpassing last year's figures for the corresponding month. According to Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) sources, hundi revenues reached 129.45 crore — an increase of 4.09 crore compared to 125.35 crore in July 2024. TTD officials attributed the surge to an unexpected rise in pilgrim footfall, despite July typically being a lean month due to the reopening of schools and colleges post-summer vacation. This year, however, the temple drew 23.76 lakh devotees, marking a 7.4% increase over the 22.13 lakh pilgrims recorded in July last year. The uptick in footfall also boosted revenues from accommodation and Prasadam sales. Accommodation receipts rose to 13.89 crore from 12.47 crore last year. Tirupati Laddus, a sacred offering, saw production scale up to 1.25 crore units, generating 50.57 crore in revenue—up from 1.04 crore Laddus and 41.06 crore in July 2024. TTD authorities credited the rise to administrative reforms led by Additional EO Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary. These included enhanced crowd and queue line management, improved distribution of free food and water, better quality of Annaprasadams and Naivedyam offerings, and revised VIP break Darshan timings. Collectively, these measures have contributed to higher pilgrim satisfaction and increased revenues in recent months. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). Same-day darshan for ‘Srivani' ticket-holders in Tirumala

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has resolved to roll out a pilot initiative enabling same-day darshan for devotees having 'Srivani' ticket. Beginning August 1 and continuing through August 15, devotees will be enabled to secure 'Srivani' tickets and have darshan the same day, replacing the existing system that often necessitates a three-day wait. Initially, the new system will be made applicable to the devotees seeking tickets under the offline quota, both at Tirumala and the Tirupati airport. The TTD provides around 800 tickets across the current booking counters in Tirumala and 200 tickets at the airport. Announcing the new scheme, TTD Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary on Wednesday said that under the revised system, the tickets would be made available from 10 a.m. on first come, first served basis at the Gokulam guesthouse in Tirumala and from 7 a.m. at the airport. The devotees should report at the Vaikuntam Queue Complex-I at 4.30 p.m. for darshan of the deity the same evening. The system would be introduced on an experimental basis, he said, adding that it was aimed at easing the burden on the pilgrims. On the other hand, devotees who had booked their tickets till October 31 under online advance reservation system would be allowed for darshan at 10 a.m. as per the current schedule. However from November 1, both offline and online 'Srivani' ticket-holders would be granted darshan access at 4.30 p.m. through the Vaikuntham Queue Complex-1.
