Red terror crumbles in Bastar: CM Sai hails security forces after top Maoist killed
RAIPUR: 'Braving formidable challenges and harsh terrains, the brave soldiers of our security forces are driving the campaign to eradicate Maoism towards historic success,' said Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai after the Maoist commander Gautam alias Sudhakar was killed in Bijapur encounter.
Today in Bijapur, the DRG, STF, and CoBRA forces have delivered yet another decisive blow against Left-Wing Extremism, CM said, adding that more than 400 Naxals have been neutralized in the year 2024-25 so far in Bastar.
'This achievement is a reaffirmation of our commitment to ignite the flame of peace and development in Naxal-affected regions. The unmatched courage and sacrifice of our forces not only reflect their unwavering sense of duty but also send a powerful message across the nation — India is breaking free from the chains of Naxalism,' CM said.
Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the resolute commitment of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, the mission to make India Naxalism-free by March 2026 is well on course to becoming a reality, Sai said.

Activists alleged Maoist killings staged; Chhattisgarh police dismiss claim
Raipur: Civil rights activists and the Telangana civil rights association on Saturday alleged that Chhattisgarh police had taken Maoist leaders into custody in Bijapur and were killing them one by one in staged encounters. Police, however, dismissed the allegations, stating that all actions were lawful and carried out in strict accordance with operational protocols. This comes after the security forces killed senior leader of the banned CPI (Maoist) and a Central Committee member (CCM) Sudhakar in an encounter in the forests of Bijapur, and top Maoist leader Bhaskar in the Indravati National Park area in Bijapur on Thursday — two weeks after they gunned CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju was gunned down in Narayanpur. A statement issued by the Telangana civil rights association on Saturday said that senior Maoist leaders, including CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Sudhakar and Telangana State Committee member Mailarapu Adelu alias Bhaskar, were in police custody before being killed in staged encounters on Thursday and Friday respectively in the Indravati National Park area. Calling the allegation 'baseless', inspector general (IG) of police of Bastar Range Sunderraj P said, 'In strict adherence to the constitutional mandate and legal framework of the Republic of India, the security forces remain committed to safeguarding the lives, rights and properties of the native population in the region. All operational activities are conducted in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring due process, restraint, and accountability at every stage.' The association also claimed that several other senior Maoist leaders — including Bandi Prakash, Indravati National Park area secretary Dilip, Maddeedu area secretary Seetu, Ramanna, Munna, Sunitha, Mahesh, and around ten others — remain in police custody and are at risk of being killed similarly. The civil rights body has demanded that they be immediately produced before a magistrate and has called for a ceasefire and peace talks with the Maoists. Telangana civil rights association president Lakshman Gaddam said that multiple of his sources claimed that Maoist leaders are in custody of the Chhattisgarh police. 'We demand they should be produced before the court,' Gaddam said. But he had managed to escape,' Bastar-based civil rights activist Bela Bhatia said, adding that Sudhakar and Bhaskar, who the police had claimed were killed in encounter, were part of the group. 'Bandi Prakash, Dilip, Seetu, Ramanna, Munna, Sunita, Mahesh and ten others were still in custody,' Bhatia added. The operation in the National Park area is underway, and the police have recovered bodies and arms, people aware of the matter said.

Two more Naxals gunned down by security forces in Chhattisgarh, four killed so far
Security forces on Saturday gunned down two more Naxals during an ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the dense forest region of the National Park area in Bijapur district. With these fresh encounters, the total number of Naxals eliminated over the past three days has risen to four, including two high-ranking Maoist operation, which began earlier this week, has led to the deaths of top Naxal leader, who was Central Committee member, Sudhakar alias Gautam, carrying a bounty of Rs 1 crore, and Bhaskar Rao alias Mailarapu Adellu, who had a combined bounty of Rs 45 lakh across Telangana and was the Secretary of the Mancherial-Komarambheem (MKB) division of the CPI (Maoist) Telangana State Committee and also a member of its Special Zonal Committee. On Friday, security personnel recovered Bhaskar's body along with an AK-47 rifle, explosives and other arms. Earlier, on the first day of the operation, Sudhakar was killed and an automatic rifle was seized from the encounter continued through the night into Saturday, with security forces recovering additional automatic weapons from the latest gunfight. Bastar is now known for digital transformation, not fear: Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Friday. During the meeting, he presented the changing face of Bastar, highlighting peace and development initiatives, and also briefed the Prime Minister about the recently held Su-Shasan Tihar (Good Governance Festival) in Chhattisgarh. During his visit to Delhi, the Chief Minister also called on Union Home Minister Amit Shah at his residence, where they discussed key issues, including state development and anti-Naxal operations. The Chief Minister stated that Bastar, once known for guns and landmines, is now witnessing the rise of mobile towers -- not just as tools of communication, but as symbols of progress and trust. He informed that in the past one and a half years, the state government has established 64 new forward security camps in the region. These camps have not only enhanced the sense of safety in nearby villages but have also brought mobile network connectivity to previously remote areas. A total of 671 mobile towers have been activated so far, with 365 of them providing 4G services. This marks the beginning of a digital revolution in tribal regions. 'Today, these mobile towers signify more than just connectivity,' the Chief Minister said. 'They represent a future where children and youth in Bastar are now part of the digital world. Where earlier they had to travel to cities to prepare for exams or access education, now the same opportunities are available in their own villages through online platforms. Young people in Bastar are shaping their own futures using smartphones,' he said. He also highlighted that villages around these security camps are now receiving basic amenities like electricity, drinking water, healthcare, and education. Under the Niyad Nellanar scheme, 18 community services and 25 government welfare schemes are being implemented simultaneously in 146 identified villages. The Chief Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the success of Su-Shasan Tihar, during which hundreds of grievance redressal camps were organised. From MPs to MLAs, public representatives directly visited villages to address people's concerns. At these camps, citizens received services such as ration cards, Aadhaar updates, pensions, health check-ups, school admissions, Ayushman cards, PM Awas, and Ujjwala gas connections -- all under one roof. CM Sai also presented a detailed account of Chhattisgarh's initiatives and innovations in the field of water conservation. He emphasised that the state is working in mission mode to tackle water scarcity, combining community participation with technological interventions at every level. The Chief Minister informed the Prime Minister that due to changing climate patterns, the number of rainy days in Chhattisgarh has reduced from around 100 to just 65 annually. In response, the state has launched a unique initiative titled 'Water Conservation Initiative - Chhattisgarh's Model for a Secure Future'. As part of this model, innovative water-saving methods are being adopted in villages. Where rainwater earlier flowed away, efforts are now being made to capture and store it. Technologies like GIS mapping and the Jaldoot mobile app are being used to identify critical areas in need of water infrastructure. Most significantly, women are playing a central role in this campaign. Women's groups are actively involved in cleaning and deepening ponds, reviving traditional water bodies, and promoting water stewardship in their communities. This collective effort is helping ensure clean and sufficient water in rural areas. Chief Minister Sai also informed the Prime Minister about the Nalanda Campus -- India's first 24x7 hybrid public library. Built at a cost of Rs 18 crore, the campus includes an e-library, youth tower, health zone, and solar-powered infrastructure. Over 11,000 students have benefited so far, with more than 300 successfully clearing UPSC and CGPSC exams. He also shared details about the Prayas model, which provides free coaching to underprivileged and tribal students for national-level exams such as IIT-JEE, NEET, and CLAT. So far, 1,508 students from this initiative have secured admission in prestigious institutions across India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated the Chief Minister's efforts and assured full support from the Central Government for Chhattisgarh's development journey. (ANI)
