Just last weekend a community lunch was organised at this café with Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke as well as officials of the Surrey police in attendance.
'At approximately 4:40 am on 7 August, 2025, SPS Frontline officers responded to a report of shots fired outside a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street,' it said in a statement issued Thursday, adding 'while it appears multiple shots caused damage to the windows and building, fortunately the staff on premises were uninjured'.
New Delhi: Nearly a month after the first such instance, shots were fired again Thursday at TV presenter Kapil Sharma's newly opened café in Canada. Surrey Police confirmed that its officers are investigating the incident at Kap's Café in Surrey, British Columbia.
Visuals of what appears to be the latest incident outside Kap's Café are being circulated on social media, with a superimposed emoticon of a smiling devil. ThePrint hasn't verified the visuals independently.
In a purported post on Facebook, by an account in the name of Goldy Dhillon, said to be a member of what was the Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi nexus until June this year took credit for the incident. It mentions that calls to Sharma remained unanswered and includes a threat that the next message would be delivered in Mumbai.
'Jai Shree Ram. Sat Shree Akaal, Ram Ram to all brothers. The firing that happened today at Kapil Sharma's Kap's Café in Surrey has been claimed by Goldy Dhillon, affiliated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. We called him (possibly the target), but he did not answer the call, so we had to take action. If he still does not respond, then we will take the next action in Mumbai soon (sic),' read the purported post.
While Bishnoi is lodged in an Indian prison, Brar remains a wanted fugitive.
The motive behind this latest shooting is unclear at this time.
Earlier, on the intervening night of 9-10 July, multiple bullets were fired at the TV presenter's newly opened café while the staff was still inside.
As ThePrint reported then, Harjit Singh alias Laddi, member of the banned Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in a purported post on Facebook claimed responsibility for the shooting. One of India's most wanted men, Laddi has a reward of Rs 10 lakh to his name.
In the purported post, certain remarks made on The Kapil Sharma Show were cited as the motive behind the attack. The post also said that a character on this show made remarks on Nihang Sikhs and calls to Sharma's manager went unanswered.

US millionaire hunter gored to death: Social media hails buffalo as hero

In a dramatic twist of fate that has reignited fierce debate on the ethics of big-game hunting, American trophy hunter Asher Watkins, 52, was fatally gored by a Cape buffalo—often dubbed the 'Black Death'—during a licensed safari in Limpopo, South Africa, on August 3, 2025. Watkins, a Texas-based millionaire and self-proclaimed 'adventure conservationist,' had built a prominent online presence showcasing his trophy kills from across the globe. But this time, nature struck back. The buffalo, one of Africa's most formidable and unpredictable animals, charged while being tracked and instantly killed him—a rare reversal that quickly turned into a viral morality tale. Public voices split, but the internet takes the buffalo's side Within hours, news of Watkins' death exploded across social media platforms, where reactions ranged from sympathy to savage criticism. While some viewed his death as a tragic accident, many celebrated it as karmic justice. 'He deserved his fate. He travelled the planet killing for fun. Hope the buffalo wasn't harmed,' one user commented. 'Karma at its finest. The hunted finally fought back,' another quipped. The phrase 'when the hunter becomes the hunted' trended widely, with users across platforms framing the incident as a reckoning moment for those who glorify killing animals for sport. The wall at the buffaloes house — Chloe Of Now (@ChloeOfNow) August 6, 2025 Online sentiment: The buffalo as a symbol of justice A clear shift in public sentiment emerged—sympathy poured not for the fallen millionaire, but for the buffalo. On Reddit and Facebook, users dubbed the animal a symbol of wild justice and resistance. One Redditor wrote: 'Sounds like perfectly justifiable self-defence on the buffalo's part.' 'To kill for sport is despicable. Love this buffalo for taking out the trash.' 'He came to my territory uninvited' — Pfarelo (@PfareloMulondo) August 7, 2025 Viral memes, commentary threads, and wildlife advocacy pages echoed the same sentiment: it was nature's turn to win. From blood sport to backlash: the ethics of hunting under fire While defenders of trophy hunting pointed to the economic benefits such safaris bring to local communities and conservation efforts, critics were quick to dismiss those arguments, calling them smokescreens for cruelty. The tragic end of a man who once boasted about taking down lions and elephants became a catalyst for reflection on the legitimacy of these 'hunts' in the modern age. Posts questioned why such practices still receive legal sanction and tourist support. One wildlife conservation page remarked: 'It's telling that the world mourns the buffalo, not the man. That says everything about where we are in 2025.' Digital-age morality tale The social media narrative following the incident has evolved into more than just a viral news cycle—it's a morality play for the digital age. It reveals changing global attitudes toward wildlife, colonial legacies in safari culture, and the growing consensus that the right to life doesn't end at the species line. In the end, this was not just a story about a man's tragic death—it became a symbol of resistance. And on that front, the internet has spoken loudly and clearly: it stands with the buffalo.

Ahead Of Onam, 30 Coconut Oil Bottles Stolen From Kerala Shop Amid Soaring Prices

With coconut and coconut oil prices touching record highs in Kerala ahead of Onam, a reported coconut oil theft from a grocery shop near Kochi has drawn public attention. A shop in Aluva, about 30 km from Kochi, is the target of a theft where an unidentified accused made off with 30 bottles of coconut oil and other provisions after an initial failed attempt to break in by drilling through the shop's floor, according to a local media report on Thursday. The price of one kilogram of coconut ranges from Rs 80 to Rs 100, while coconut oil costs between Rs 500 and Rs 600 per kg across Kerala. Coconut and coconut oil are integral to daily life in Kerala, but their record prices have already strained household budgets, especially with the Onam festival approaching. The incident occurred at the vegetable and fruit shop near the Thottumugham bridge in Aluva. The shop owner, identified as Ayoob, found the break-in on Wednesday morning. When contacted, the Aluva East police, under whose jurisdiction the area falls, said they were aware of the incident but had not received a formal complaint to begin an investigation. According to the local media report, the accused first attempted to drill a hole through the shop's concrete floor to gain access, a method that proved unsuccessful. The accused then resorted to breaking the main lock to enter the premises. Once inside, his primary target appeared to be the coconut oil stock. The accused allegedly packed 30 bottles of premium coconut oil, each valued at approximately Rs 600, into a sack. The stolen goods also included a box of apples and ten packets of milk. Before leaving, the accused allegedly made efforts to destroy evidence, cutting the cables of the CCTV cameras installed inside the shop. The spiralling prices of coconuts and coconut oil have become a major political issue in the state, prompting the government to announce a subsidised rate through ration shops for the Onam festival. This incident is the latest in a series of similar thefts across the state, which is believed to be directly linked to the soaring prices of coconuts and coconut oil.
