Nashville's top 10 rooftop bars: Drinks and views away from downtown

Yahoo17-07-2025
While Broadway rooftops might draw all the chair-throwing drama and bachelorette-party chaos, sometimes you just want a quiet cocktail, high above the fray.
Some of Nashville's best rooftop bars aren't anywhere near Lower Broadway. You won't find pedal taverns circling below or a cover band playing Wagon Wheel. Or at least we hope so.
What you will find: Killer cocktails, noise levels that allow for conversation and a welcome breeze.
In East Nashville, Germantown, Wedgewood-Houston, Green Hills, Midtown and even Franklin, rooftop bars offer a much-needed break from the Broadway burnout, not to mention cheaper parking and better people-watching.
The view? That's just a bonus.
Coral Club
This watering hole brings tropical daydream vibes to the most unlikely of places: a strip mall across the street from an Aldi. The drink list leans toward beach club over tiki bar. The breezy, balanced theme is clear in cocktails like the White Port Cooler, a mix of gin, white port, cucumber, lemon and just enough strawberry to whisper summer. If that doesn't make a Tuesday feel like vacation, the plant-filled rooftop patio with East Nashville views and a glimpse of downtown will. -Mackensy
Details: 604 Gallatin Ave Ste 217, www.thecoral.club.
Tall Tales Rooftop Bar
Newcomer Tall Tales is at the top of Waymore's Guest House on Gallatin Pike in East Nashville. If you haven't heard of it yet, catch up quick. Tall Tales offers a lovely view of the Nashville skyline from a safe distance, plus stellar golden hour lighting. The aesthetic is kicked up a notch with tons of overflowing foliage and comfy patio furniture. There's plenty of room to hang out with large groups of friends, and service is great from attentive waitstaff and skilled bartenders. Plus, there's happy hour every day and frequent late night specials. -Molly

Ramone's Oyster Bar & Citrus Club
Wedgewood-Houston's first rooftop bar comes with long-range views of the downtown and gorgeous design. Perched above Mercado by Butchertown, Ramone's Rooftop feels like a breezy escape, even though you're just minutes from the city core. An extensive raw bar anchors the Baja-inspired menu, including seafood towers, while the cocktail menu leans light and fresh with plenty of agave-forward sippers and ingredients that nod to the tropics. -Mackensy
Details: 625 Hamilton Ave., www.mercadobtown.com
SkyBar
Atop the Hilton hotels in Green Hills and Capitol View are two bars perfect for sunset watching and sipping on mojitos— which they serve with coconut, watermelon and blood orange varieties. The former is a classic poolside bar that offers tapas and "tiki bar-style" drinks, while the latter features a view of the statehouse and rotating frosè flavors, all of which sound delectable. It can be enjoyable to lean into the serenity that comes with a staycation, even if it's just for happy hour. -Hadley

Up/Down
Yes, it's a chain. Yes, it's full of arcade games. But the rooftop bar boasts an exceptional view of downtown that's a bit hard to find east of the river. There are private booths, fire pits and plenty of space to spread out. And it's hard to argue with a vodka-spiked Rosé Frozé in hand as the sun dips behind the skyline. -Mackensy
Details: 927 Woodland St., www.updownarcadebar.com/nashville
Culamar
The rooftop of this seafood-forward restaurant from Frank Pullara features some easy breezy favorites from downstairs — think curated East and West Coast oysters, ceviches and shrimp cocktail, plus more substantial additions such as po'boys and gyros. The cocktails are thoughtful and clean, the wine list smartly edited, and the view of Franklin's historic downtown feels especially charming by the glow of the rooftop firepits. -Mackensy
Details: 99 E Main St ste 190, Franklin, www.culamartn.com
The Pool Club at Virgin Hotel
The Virgin's rooftop takes the concept of a "hotel bar" to the next level. Greenery, disco balls and red and white striped umbrellas decorate the nearly 360-degree view of Nashville's evolving Midtown neighborhood. Guests can request seating on the pool deck or inside by the DJ, but if you want a tip, order at the bar and then head out the back door to a more secluded space overlooking Division Street. Expect a fun take on bar food ranging from burgers and chicken tenders to barbacoa bowls and kimchi fried rice to accompany the summery cocktail list ranging from $16-45 and select beers starting at $7. -Hadley
Details: 1 Music Square, www.virginhotels.com/nashville/eat-drink/the-pool-club/
Reunion Bar
Another East Nashville favorite, Reunion Bar has a relaxed vibe and multiple areas to enjoy drinks with friends. Check out the indoor bar area, garden patio and rooftop space depending on your vibe. The happy hour at this spot is serious business. Catch it Monday through Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. Deals include two-for-one draft beers, shot and beer combo specials and specials on wine by the glass. -Molly
Details: 105 S 11th St. www.reunionnashville.com
Eddie Ate Dynamite
This one flew under our radar for a while, despite the fact it's right by The Tennessean's Midtown office building. Eddie Ate Dynamite, on the seventh floor of Hotel Fraye, is a low-key spot with rotating craft cocktail options and a handful of happy hour deals. There's a covered area, so you'll be fine even if the weather isn't perfect. Find also: comfy seating, friendly bartenders and access to the hotel's pool area. -Molly
Details: 1810 Broadway, eddieatedynamite.com
Top Note
Perched equally on the outskirts of Germantown and Downtown, Top Note is one of the lesser known spots on the list. Its bohemian interior design meets a concrete-filled view over Nashville Municipal Auditorium and the Nashville Sounds' distant scoreboard, but there's plenty of space, live music and indoor/outdoor seating available. There are $11 and under wine and beer options, a few $16 signature cocktails and a varied Tennessee whiskey list— joined with a hefty food menu of steak, salads, sandwiches and pasta. Don't miss the entrance on 3rd Avenue, separate from the TownePlace Suites hotel entrance on Gay Street. -Hadley

Finesse2Tymes Reacts to 50 Cent's Unsolicited Advice to Call His Estranged Mom

Finesse2Tymes shut down 50 Cent's recommendation that the Memphis rapper call his mom amid their public fallout. Last week, Finesse's mother, Pluria Alexander, launched a GoFundMe campaign for moving expenses after claiming to be threatened with eviction. Alexander alleges that the Memphis rapper, real name Ricky Hampton, has financially cut her off, and she now faces homelessness. As Alexander has continued to demand financial help from Finesse on social media, on Tuesday (August 12), Fifty weighed in on Instagram. "Hey Finesse you look like yo momma man just call her," the G-Unit frontman wrote, per The Shade Room. "I said what the f**ksdo you do when that happens, nothing look at her and say you want some of this money or not." COMPLEX SHOP: Shop the brands you love, anytime and anywhere. Uncover what's next. Finesse also changed his Instagram profile picture to an image of Eminem as B-Rabbit in his 2002 film 8 Mile. In a freestyle video posted on Instagram over the weekend, Finesse rapped about "family problems" making him feel similar to the 15-time Grammy winner. As depicted in Em's older songs like "Cleanin' Out My Closet" and "Mockingbird," and fictionalized in 8 Mile, the Detroit native and his now-deceased mother had a volatile relationship. Fifty's relationship with his eldest son is just as rocky, as the two have publicly feuded over financial entitlement and the rapper allegedly being an absentee parent. On Father's Day, Jackson joked on Instagram about the likelihood of his father acknowledging him by posting a mock sports betting chart. "Oh it's Father's Day 😳. Happy Father's Day to all the real ones! I'm watching my bet and it ain't looking too good 🤦🏾‍♂️ I got the over… We all know this the day for photo ops, the 28-year-old captioned the post. Alleged mastermind behind Young Dolph's killing is 2nd to stand trial in Memphis shooting

The trial of a man charged with organizing the daytime ambush killing of rapper Young Dolph at a Memphis bakery in November 2021 began on Monday. Hernandez Govan, 45, faces charges of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and attempted murder. He is not accused of shooting Young Dolph, but prosecutors claim he directed the two people who did. He rejected the state's offer to settle with a guilty plea last month, CBS affiliate WREG reported. Young Dolph, whose legal name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was a rapper, independent label owner and producer who grew up in Memphis and was admired in the city for his charitable works. The 36-year-old was in his hometown to hand out Thanksgiving turkeys to families when his visit to his favorite cookie shop turned into an attack that shocked the entertainment world. City officials and community activists pointed to the killing as a symbol of the dangers of gun violence in Memphis, where more than 300 homicides were reported that year. Memphis prosecutors have portrayed the killing as part an effort by Anthony "Big Jook" Mims to get revenge on Young Dolph for diss tracks aimed at Big Jook and the record label he helped run for his brother, Yo Gotti. Smith has testified that Big Jook put out a $100,000 hit on Young Dolph as well as smaller bounties on all the artists at Young Dolph's record label, Paper Route Empire. Big Jook was shot and killed outside a restaurant earlier this year. Testifying against Govan on Monday was Cornelius Smith Jr., who has admitted to being one of the two shooters who ambushed Young Dolph. Smith previously was the main witness against Justin Johnson, who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2024 after Smith named him as the second shooter. Smith testified on Monday that "I didn't know anything about Paper Route having no hits," before Govan told him about them. He said Govan hired him to "do the hits" and was going to take $10,000 as his cut. Govan was also the person who told him and Johnson that Young Dolph would be in Memphis for the volunteer event, so "that's our opportunity," Smith said. Meanwhile, Govan's defense attorney, Manny Arora, tried to paint Smith as an unreliable witness who would say anything to try to get a lighter sentence. Arora pointed to previous testimony where Smith recalled a chance encounter with Big Jook. At the time, Smith implied that Big Jook was the person who hired him. After Smith was arrested, his attorney called Big Jook's attorney and received somewhere between $38,000 and $50,000 in cash. Smith said on Monday that he did not know who had supplied the money. Smith also testified that he previously heard that Govan might be working with the FBI. Arora asked why Smith would take a job from Govan if that were the case. Smith said that Govan was "innocent until proven guilty." Smith is charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder but has pleaded not guilty and does not yet have a trial date. Johnson was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole in September 2024. He was later sentenced for two other convictions from the trial: conspiracy to commit murder and being a felon in possession of a gun. Young Dolph began his career by releasing numerous mixtapes. His studio albums include his 2016 debut, "King of Memphis." He also collaborated on other mixtapes and albums with fellow rappers Key Glock, Megan Thee Stallion, T.I., Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz and others. Young Dolph had three albums reach the top 10 on the Billboard 200, with 2020′s "Rich Slave" peaking at No. 4. He was among the musical stars that The Grammy Awards paid tribute to during its memoriam segment at the 2022 awards. In a 2024 interview with The Associated Press, Carlisa Brown, Young Dolph's sister, called her brother's killing a "very senseless murder" and added that his family wants everyone involved to get the justice they deserve. The attack that killed the rapper wasn't the first time he was targeted. In 2017, Young Dolph was approached by three men and shot over "beef," according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was critically injured but survived. Earlier that same year, he was involved in another shooting, where at least 100 bullets were fired at his SUV.
