Malaysian security guard counts cost of viral knockout by MMA coach: ‘I was embarrassed'
A security guard in a block of flats in Malaysia thought he had the upper hand when he challenged a resident smaller than him, not realising the man he had picked on was a mixed martial arts (MMA) coach. Not only did Muhammad Alim Muhamad Adnizam, 24, end up having to get stitches, he had to watch his embarrassing knockout go viral. In addition, he was reassigned to another building and counted himself lucky he did not lose his job, the New Straits Times newspaper reported on Tuesday. In the video of the street brawl on July 10, Alim can be seen aggressively provoking another man, later identified as 22-year-old amateur MMA fighter Tony Lim, to a fight. 'Are you a boy or a girl? Hit me if you're a man,' he taunts Lim, even striking his own head at one point and calling Lim a pondan (transvestite). While Lim appears calm at first, Alim then starts taking off his watch and clothes – an indication that he is ready to fight. As punches are thrown, Lim acts quickly and subdues Alim in a chokehold but is told by another security guard to let Alim go. Alim picks himself up and challenges Lim to continue fighting but is knocked out in one punch, which sends him reeling against a metal pole. Lim told The Rakyat Post news portal on Thursday that the ill feelings started about two weeks before the fight, when he intervened to help an elderly resident who was being attacked by Alim.

Alibaba unleashes Qwen3 coding model for developers to push AI agent adoption
Touted as the company's 'most advanced agentic AI coding model to date', the Qwen3-Coder-480B-A35B-Instruct – built on a so-called Mixture of Experts (MoE) architecture – features a total of 480 billion parameters, 35 billion of which are active, and supports a 256,000-token context window, expandable to 1 million tokens through extrapolation methods. In a blog entry on developer platform GitHub, the Qwen team of Alibaba Cloud – the AI and cloud computing arm of Alibaba, owner of the Post – showed that Qwen3-Coder had set new state-of-the-art results among open-source models across multiple agentic tasks, outperforming Kimi K2 Instruct from Moonshot AI and DeepSeek 's V3-0324 On SWE-Bench, a benchmark for evaluating large language models on real-world software engineering tasks, Qwen3-Coder showed stronger capabilities than those of the two Chinese AI start-ups ' models. The same benchmark tests also showed that Qwen3-Coder was rated either on par or just behind in certain areas when compared with the performance of prominent proprietary AI models Claude Sonnet-4 from Anthropic and OpenAI 's GPT-4.1. 'Agentic AI coding is transforming software development by enabling more autonomous, efficient and accessible programming workflows,' Alibaba said in a statement on Wednesday. 'With its open-source availability, strong agentic coding capabilities, and seamless compatibility with popular developer tools and interfaces, Qwen3-Coder is positioned as a valuable tool for global developers in software development.'

India to issue first tourist visas to Chinese nationals in 5 years
India will allow Chinese citizens to apply for tourist visas for the first time in five years amid ongoing efforts by the world's two most populous countries to improve relations following years of tension. The Indian embassy in Beijing said applications for tourist visas would resume on Thursday. It said applicants must complete an online form then book an in-person appointment to submit the required documents at centres in Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou. China's foreign ministry described the announcement as a 'positive move' that served the 'common interest' of all sides. 'China stands ready to maintain communication and coordination with India to keep facilitating people-to-people exchanges between the two countries,' Guo Jiakun, a spokesman for the ministry, said on Wednesday.
