Margaret Qualley awkwardly answers Taylor Swift album question
Margaret Qualley awkwardly answers Taylor Swift album question originally appeared on The Sporting News If you want new information on Taylor Swift's upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl, you're not getting it from Margaret Qualley. The Maid star gave an awkward answer to whether she knew any details about her close friend's new project. "I don't know anything," Qualley said during an Aug. 14 appearance on the Today show. She took a long pause, seemingly to gather her thoughts, and added, "But we'll all be excited to listen to the music.' Qualley's husband, Jack Antonoff, is a frequent collaborator of Swift's as they worked on her albums: 1989, Reputation, Lover, Folklore, Evermore, and Midnights. However, for The Life of a Showgirl project, she worked alongside producers Max Martin and Shellback. All three musicans previously worked together on hit records for Swift, including "Blank Space," "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and "...Ready For It?" Swift spoke about how the album came together on her boyfriend Travis Kelce's New Heights podcast which he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. "When I was on tour in Stockholm, I had Max Martin come out to the show," Taylor explained during an Aug. 13 appearance. "I was talking to him and I was like, 'I just feel like we could knock it out of the park if we just went back in.'" "We've never actually made an album before where it's just the three of us," she continued. "It felt like catching lightning in a bottle, honestly." In addition to the production process behind the project, Swift shared that she wrote the album while she was on her record-breaking Eras Tour and was inspired by how she felt. 'This album is about what was going on behind the scenes of my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,' she said. 'It just comes from the most infectiously joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in in my life, and so that effervesence has come through on this record. And like you said, bangers." The Life of a Showgirl Tracklist 'The Fate of Ophelia' 'Elizabeth Taylor' 'Opalite' 'Father Figure' 'Eldest Daughter' 'Ruin the Friendship' 'Actually Romantic' 'Wi$h Li$t' 'Wood' 'CANCELLED!' 'Honey' 'The Life of a Showgirl' ft. Sabrina Carpenter While 13 is the singer's "lucky number" she shared that there will only be 12 songs and no bonus tracks. 'With 'Tortured Poets Department,' I was like here's a data dump of everything I thought, felt, experienced in two or three years. Here's 31 songs. This is 12,' she said. 'There's not a thirteenth, there's not other ones coming. This is the record I've been wanting to make for a very long time. I also wanted it to be every single song is on this album for hundreds of reasons, and you couldn't take one out and it be the same album, you couldn't add one and be… It's just right. 'That focus and that kind of discipline with creating an album and keeping the bar really high is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time,' she continued. 'I tend to write lots and lots of music, so it's a temptation to release lots of music. But oftentimes, I wanted to do an album that was so focused on quality and on the theme and everything fitting together like a perfect puzzle that these 12 songs for my 12th album, I feel like we achieved that and I'm really happy about that.' CNN anchor Jake Tapper caught on hot mic during Trump, Putin coverage: 'Give me my show'
CNN anchor Jake Tapper was caught on a hot mic during the network's special Aug. 15 coverage of President Donald Trump's summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Tapper, who usually hosts his two-hour program "The Lead" from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. EST from Washington, D.C., was live Friday in Alaska, when his colleague Anderson Cooper attempted to throw it back to him. "I'm fine, just give me my show back," Tapper said, seemingly expressing his frustration while failing to realize he was live. The hot mic moment was shared on X by conservative NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck. A smiling Cooper then quipped, "Show's back!" Ooops CNN hot mic catches an angry Jake Tapper!! 'Allison Cooper': Trump calls CNN anchor Anderson Cooper 'Allison' in rant After the awkward exchange, Tapper welcomed Sen. Adam Schiff to the show, but the California Democrat couldn't hear the CNN host. "I think I lost you," Schiff said. Tapper then told the audience that "we're having real comms problems today. I'm sorry about that. If anybody can hear me, let's go throw it back to New York." At that point, Cooper again took over, saying "Okay, Jake, thanks very much." USA TODAY reached out to reps for Cooper, Tapper and CNN for comment. At the Alaska summit, Trump and Putin failed to achieve a major breakthrough in peace negotiations over Russia's war against Ukraine. Tapper occasionally becomes frustrated during on-air coverage. In 2020, Tapper played Lara Trump's remarks at a "Women for Trump" 2020 campaign event about former President Joe Biden during her interview on "State of the Union." "Every time he comes on stage and they turn to him, I'm like: 'Joe, can you get it out. Let's get the words out,'" Trump said. Tapper then asked, "How do you think it makes little kids with stutters feel when they see you make a comment like that?" Trump then responded that she did not know Biden had a stutter, which was a well-documented disability of the then-presidential candidate. "I think what we see on stage with Joe Biden, Jake, is very clearly a cognitive decline. That's what I'm referring to," Trump said. Tapper then shut down the interview, telling Trump that she had "absolutely no standing to diagnose somebody's cognitive decline." In May, Tapper revealed that he had apologized to Trump about the incident. That same month, Tapper and co-author Alex Thompson of Axios released a controversial book "Original Sin" that explored the physical and cognitive decline of Biden during his presidency. The book received significant backlash from certain liberal and center corners of the political spectrum. Contributing: James Powel

Patrick Mahomes had doubts about Travis Kelce's romance with Taylor Swift at first
Patrick Mahomes was doubtful when Kansas City Chiefs team-mate Travis Kelce told him he was dating Taylor Swift. The Chiefs quarterback revealed that his friend Kelce had told him about the pair's relationship but explained that it was only when the pop star attended her first NFL game in September 2023 that he realised that the romance was genuine. Speaking in the ESPN docuseries The Kingdom, Mahomes said: "He told me during the week. It was one of those where I gotta see it until I believe it." Travis and Taylor's relationship was confirmed when the Blank Space singer attended the Chiefs' Arrowhead Stadium for the NFL clash against the Chicago Bears and Mahomes admits that her presence at the game generated a "buzz". The 29-year-old sports star said: "You definitely felt the buzz and you could see people in the stadium gravitating towards where she was up there. At the same time, we had business to handle." Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones was astonished when the team discovered Taylor's relationship with Kelce. He recalled in the documentary: "We were in the locker room like, 'Taylor Swift's here. Taylor Swift? For real? With Travis? Oh my God!' "We were like, 'Oh my God Travis pulled Taylor Swift.'" Taylor recently compared Travis wooing her to being a John Hughes movie as she opened up about how the pair's romance came about. The 35-year-old singer said in a revealing interview on her boyfriend and his brother Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast: "This dude didn't get a meet and greet and he's making it everyone's problem. "That's what I thought at first... You realise he didn't even reach out to our management. He came with Pat [Mahomes] and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room." She continued: "It felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie, and he was standing outside of my window with a boombox saying, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet! Do you want to date me?" The Cardigan singer acknowledged that Travis, 35, turned out to be the guy she'd been manifesting in her songs. She smiled: "I was like, 'If this guy's not crazy, this is sort of what I've been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.'"
