Su From So emerges as a blockbuster, Kannada horror comedy is unstoppable with Rs 17.20 crore in 6 days
Su From So collects Rs 17.20 crore in Karnataka
Su From So, which JP Thuminad helms, is having an extraordinary run at the Kannada box office. It has become a wave in its home state, Karnataka.
The Shaneel Gautham starrer earned Rs 6.8 crore in its opening weekend. The Kannada horror comedy then collected Rs 3.3 crore, Rs 3.5 crore, and Rs 3.6 crore on Day 4, Day 5, and Day 6, respectively.
The cume collection of Su From So stands at Rs 17.20 crore in six days of its theatrical run.
Su From So receives positive word of mouth, emerges as a blockbuster
Produced under the banner of Light Buddha Films, Su From So has been scoring better on weekdays than it did in its debut weekend. The latest Kannada release performed better on Monday than it did on Friday. It witnessed a slight growth in its business on Tuesday and then on Wednesday.
With its phenomenal word of mouth, the film is not looking to stop anytime soon. It is the surprise success story for the Kannada film industry in 2025. It has turned out to be a blockbuster at the box office.
While it is tough to predict where the film will end up, there is a good chance that the horror comedy will cross Rs 50 crore gross in the state. This feat is achieved by fewer than 10 Kannada films.
Note: Due to a lack of consistent box office figures and tracking for Kannada films, the degree of accuracy of these numbers isn't as high as the numbers for other film industries. The actuals could be lower than what is reported above, with a chance of being higher as well.

Mahavatar Narsimha box office collection day 11: Word-of-mouth hit beats Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2, to cross Rs 100 cr today
Ashwin Kumar's mythological animated film Mahavatar Narsimha has piqued the interest of audiences. The animated film, backed by Kleem Productions and presented by Hombale Films, is on the verge of crossing Rs 100 crore at the domestic box office in just 11 days. Mahavatar Narsimha earned Rs 8 crore on its second Monday (day 11), which is much more than what last week's releases — Ajay Devgn's action comedy Son of Sardaar 2 (Rs 2.25 crore) and Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri-starrer romantic drama Dhadak 2 (Rs 1.4 crore) made on the same day. It's also higher than what Mohit Suri's romantic juggernaut Saiyaara, starring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, earned on its third Monday (Rs 2.5 crore). As per Sacnilk, the current box office collection of Mahavatar Narsimha in India stands at Rs 99.25 crore. Thus, it's most likely that the film will cross the milestone of Rs 100 crore today, becoming the first Indian animated film to achieve the feat in the process. This figure includes earnings from all languages — with the lion's share belonging to the Hindi version, followed by Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. It helps that Hombale Films, which has been the force behind pan-India Kannada box office hits like the KGF franchise and Kantara, is backing not only Mahavatar Narshimha, but also the next six films of the seven-part Mahavatar Cinematic Universe that Kleem Productions has envisioned. Each instalment will tell the story of a new avatar of Lord Vishnu. Mahavatar Narsimha revolves around the story of Vishnu's incarnation Narsimha, a part-man, part-lion creature, invoked by devotee Prahlada to assassinate King Hirankashyap, who enjoys Lord Brahma's boon of immunity from any kind of death. Prior to this film, the highest grossing animated film from India was VG Samant's Hanuman (2005), based on Lord Hanuman, which earned only Rs 11.68 crore at the worldwide box office. By crossing the Rs 100 crore mark, Mahavatar Narsimha has also surpassed the lifetime earnings of this year's films like Rajkummar Rao-starrer romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf (Rs 74.81 crore), Sunny Deol's action film Jaat (Rs 90.34 crore), and Akshay Kumar's period courtroom drama Kesari 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh (Rs 94.48 crore). Also Read — Mahavatar Narsimha movie review: Epic in scale, uneven in execution In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Mahavatar Narsimha director Ashwin Kumar said he believes Indian mythology isn't fictional, but the country's own rich history. 'Mythology' is a Greek term which comes from 'mythos,' which means mithya in Sanskrit. Mithya means concocted. I do not feel, in any which way, that we have a concocted past. We have a very strong past. We should celebrate that past, the puranic tales of Bharat. Our puranic tales are very long, deep, and rooted in history,' he said, adding, 'It's about time we access those, feel proud, and build universes for future generations. It's very apparent that it wasn't done that well in the past, but it's about time that we do it now in the way it should be done.'

Ajay Devgn's Son Of Sardaar 2 Baby Steps Away From Rs 30-Crore Mark
Ajay Devgn's comedy drama clocked an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.81 per cent on Monday, August 4. Ajay Devgn's comedy-drama Son of Sardaar 2 was released in theatres on August 1. Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, the rib-tickling sequel started its journey on a promising note with strong audience support, translating into impressive box office numbers. On its opening weekend, the film held its ground well, as the masses loved the high-energy humour and dramatic flair. But on Monday, the film hit its slowest day so far. As per early estimates by Sacnilk, Son of Sardaar 2 added just Rs 2.50 crore to its box office tally on day 4. While the dip in footfall isn't surprising given it was a Monday (the day is notorious for pulling the brakes on most theatrical runs), it's still crucial for the film to gain momentum through the week. Son Of Sardaar 2's Box Office Collection According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film opened with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday. Over the weekend, Son of Sardaar 2 saw steady growth, bringing its first weekend total to Rs 24.75 crore. It collected Rs 8.25 crore on Saturday, August 2, and Rs 9.25 crore on Sunday, August 3. With Monday's numbers in, Son of Sardaar 2's total collection now stands at Rs 27.25 crore. The comedy drama clocked an overall Hindi occupancy of 11.81 per cent on Monday, August 4. The film saw steady growth through the day, with 6.21 per cent occupancy in morning shows, 11.16 per cent in the afternoon, and 13.23 per cent in the evening. The numbers peaked during night shows, with 16.64 per cent occupancy. Son Of Sardaar 2's Storyline and Cast The action comedy, helmed by Vijay Kumar Arora, offers a blend of action and comedy, with intriguing twists and new characters added to the OG film. Son of Sardaar 2 follows Jassi, who travels to Scotland to win back his estranged wife. But his journey takes him into a hostage crisis, a mafia war and a chaotic Sikh wedding. Besides Ajay Devgn, the film features an ensemble cast of talented actors, including Sanjay Mishra, Dolly Ahluwalia, Ravi Kishan, Neeru Bajwa, Vindu Dara Singh, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Pandey, Kubbra Sait, Deepak Dobriyal, Sharat Saxena, Sahil Mehta and debutant Roshni Walia, in other pivotal roles. A spiritual sequel to Ajay Devgn's 2012 hit film of the same name, the comedy franchise is backed by Ajay Devgn, Pravin Talreja, Jyoti Deshpande and NR Pachisia, under the banners of Devgn Films and Jio Studios. Dhadak 2 Box Office Collection Day 4: Karan Johar's Film Struggles Amid Saiyaara Craze
Last Updated: Dhadak 2 delves into themes of caste politics, social injustice and the personal struggles of individuals trying to navigate rigid societal norms. Dhadak 2, the romantic drama directed by Shazia Iqbal and starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, was released on August 1, 2025. The film received positive reviews from both critics and audiences, with particular praise for its powerful performances and compelling storytelling. However, despite strong word of mouth, Dhadak 2 appears to be facing challenges at the box office. Dhadak 2 Monday Collection According to the film minted Rs 1.40 crore on Monday, taking the film's total 4-day collection to Rs 12.80 crore. This was the film's lowest collection for a day since its release. Backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, the film saw minimal growth in numbers over the weekend but failed to pass the crucial Monday test. It opened with Rs 3.50 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 3.75 crore and Rs 4.15 crore on Day 2 and Day 3, respectively. Dhadak 2's low collection could be a result of its box office clash with Ajay Devgn's comedy-entertainer Son of Sardaar 2 and the previous releases, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's Saiyaara, as well as the animated mythological film Mahavatar Narsimha. However, the numbers might see a significant jump today, Tuesday, due to the Rs 99 ticket offer at several big theatres across the country. Dhadak 2 Star Cast And Storyline Apart from Siddhant and Triptii, the film also features Zakir Hussain, Saurabh Sachdeva, Deeksha Joshi and Vipin Sharma in pivotal roles Dhadak 2 follows the story of Neelesh (Siddhant Chaturvedi), a lower-caste law student, and Vidhi (Triptii Dimri), an upper-caste girl, as their inter-caste love story faces societal backlash and discrimination. The film explores themes of caste politics, injustice, and the struggles faced by individuals navigating societal norms. It is a remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal. The film was originally slated for release in November 2024 but faced multiple delays, reportedly due to issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). These concerns were recently resolved after the filmmakers agreed to implement extensive cuts and modifications, paving the way for its eventual release. Siddhant Chaturvedi And Triptii Dimri's Work Front Siddhant Chaturvedi will next be seen in the romantic drama Dil Ka Darwaza Khol Na Darling alongside Wamiqa Gabbi. Meanwhile, Triptii Dimri is set to star in an upcoming untitled action thriller directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, opposite Shahid Kapoor. She also has Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, in the pipeline. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Please keep discussions respectful and constructive.
