Whoa! Best Buy is selling this new RTX 5060 laptop for $400 right now

Tom's Guide16-07-2025
I review the best gaming laptops for a living, so I'm always searching for deals, even during the middle of summer. I just found an incredible deal on a brand-new laptop that's already been heavily discounted.
Right now, the Alienware 16X Aurora is on sale for $1,399 at Best Buy. That's $400 off an RTX 5060 gaming laptop that launched only a few weeks ago. If you're looking to update to a new portable gaming rig or want to get into the world of PC gaming, this is a notebook worth checking out.
The Alienware 16X Aurora is a brand-new laptop, but it's already been discounted by $400! It has everything you'd want in an entry-level gaming laptop, including a 16-inch 3K display, an Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU, an RTX 5060 GPU, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. At this price, it's a gaming laptop we strongly recommend. By comparison, a similarly configured laptop with an Ultra 7 CPU goes for $1,449 at Dell.Price check: $1,449 @ Dell
The Alienware 16X Aurora features a similar design to the Alienware Area-51 laptop I reviewed earlier this year. The dark blue color is both striking and subdued, which can help this laptop look at home in a gaming den or office environment. If not for the RGB lighting on the keyboard deck and Alienware logo, you might not know this was a gaming laptop.
Speaking about the keyboard, you get a full keyboard deck here, complete with number keys on the right-hand side. While it features membrane switches instead of mechanical ones, the keys are sufficiently thick and should provide a pleasant typing experience when you're not playing the best PC games.
On the topic of gaming, the Alienware 16X Aurora features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU, an Nvidia RTX 5060 GPU, 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage. With specs like that, you should be able to run graphically demanding games at medium settings without too many issues. Of course, if you enable DLSS 4, you'll get much better performance.
The 16-inch display, with its 2,560 x 1,600 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, should help games look their best. That screen size and resolution will also be great for web browsing, watching videos, and even photo and video editing. The 240Hz refresh rate should also help games run buttery smooth.
I haven't yet tested this specific laptop, but since this is an Alienware product, I have no problems recommending it. RTX 5060 laptops might not get the attention of RTX 5080 or 5090 machines, but they can do a great job of punching above their weight class. At this price, this is a deal you don't want to pass up.

Every Nintendo console except the Switch 2 just got a price hike due to tariffs — here's how much you'll pay now

Last Friday, just before we headed into the weekend, Nintendo quietly announced that it would be raising prices on the original Switch and a number of accessories, largely in response to President Trump's latest tariffs. However, the company avoided providing actual numbers. We now have the prices that went into effect starting on August 3. While the Nintendo Switch 2 was spared a price increase (for now), every model of the original Switch and a number of accessories including controllers did see bumps. Nintendo Switch 2 takes what worked about its best-selling predecessor and makes impactful upgrades across the board. From the excellent, and noticeably larger, 7.9-inch display to the more powerful internal specs, the Switch 2 is a full leap forward and the best hybrid console you can buy. Nintendo Switch 2: $449 @ Best Buy For now, the Switch 2 retains its $450 price tag, only $50 more than the OLED Switch. Nintendo did suggest that "market conditions" could change the price of its newest console, meaning tariffs are likely to cause the console to go up in cost. Where the price really stings is for the accessories. Nintendo's controllers are already finicky and the Joy-Con 2s being priced at $100 is more expensive than even Mario Kart World and its $80 price tag. If you were on the fence about picking up a Switch 2, now might be the time before tariffs and "market conditions" cause it to become even more expensive. Fortunately, we've been tracking stock and the console seems much more readily available than before. Follow Tom's Guide on Google News to get our up-to-date news, how-tos, and reviews in your feeds. Amazon's best Kindles are cheaper than ever at Best Buy

A Kindle lets you carry an entire bookshelf while on the go, which is why almost every year we recommend the e-reader in our guides to the best back to school essentials. With a new semester just around the corner, it's no surprise Best Buy is currently offering the latest versions of some of our favorite models at record low prices. You can, for example, pick up the ad-supported Kindle Paperwhite starting at $124.99 ($35 off) from Best Buy and Target, while Best Buy is selling the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition for $179.99 ($100 off). Best Buy is even discounting the Kindle Scribe, selling the note-taking e-reader with 32GB of storage starting at $259.99 ($140 off). Of all the e-readers out there, the Kindle Paperwhite is my top pick for those who mainly own Kindle books. As somebody who loves reading in the bath, my favorite feature is its IPX8 waterproof rating, which lets me relax without worrying. It's also the fastest and easiest Paperwhite to read yet, thanks to a bigger and brighter 7-inch display that retains its predecessor's sharp 300ppi resolution. Amazon's latest Kindle Paperwhite — aka our favorite ebook reader — is perfect for the valentine who likes to relax by the pool or pretty much anywhere. It's designed to last for weeks at a time, not days, while a larger seven-inch display and adjustable color temperature allow for more natural lighting in any environment. Amazon's other discounted Kindles are also worth considering depending on your needs. If you read a lot of textbooks with visuals or enjoy graphic novels, I'd recommend buying the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition instead. It is largely similar to the Paperwhite but steps things up with a 150ppi color mode that's impressively vibrant for an E ink screen. You'll also get double the storage (32GB), no annoying lockscreen ads, and the added convenience of wireless charging. The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is Amazon's first e-reader with a color display. It also boasts 32GB of storage, waterproofing, and support for wireless charging. Then there's the Kindle Scribe, which is designed for readers who like to take notes while reading. Its larger 10.2-inch display features a paper-like screen and comes bundled with a stylus. Recent software updates now allow you to finally write directly on the page of what you're reading, while its built-in digital notebook means you won't need to carry a separate one to class. The Kindle Scribe even features AI-powered tools that can clean up your handwriting and keep everything organized, making it an excellent all-in-one study companion. The latest Kindle Scribe is a 10.2-inch e-reader with a stylus for taking notes. It's faster than its predecessor and offers a host of new features, including one that lets you jot notes directly in your book. Not a typo! The MacBook Air M4 is $200 off right now and lowest price ever

Apple's new MacBook Air M4 tops our list of the best laptops you can buy for very good reason: it's light, speedy and (according to our testing) offers nearly 15 hours of battery life. It's a great laptop to take to work, school or the coffee shop, and right now it's cheaper than I've ever seen it thanks to Best Buy's big back-to-school laptop sale. For a limited time the 13-inch MacBook Air M4 is $799 at Best Buy, which is a serious $200 discount off the usual $999 asking price. This is the cheapest I've ever seen the MacBook Air M4, which is one of the best laptops you can buy thanks to its 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display (2560 x 1664), Apple's M4 CPU w/ 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. We gave this laptop our Editor's Choice award because it's easily the best MacBook to date, and one of the best ultraportables period. The discount appears to apply across the retailer's entire stock of MacBook Air M4s, so if you prefer a bigger screen you can also get the 15-inch MacBook Air M4 for $999 at Best Buy. This is the same MacBook Air M4 sporting the same killer $200 discount, just with a bigger 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display (2880 x 1864). It offers slightly better battery life than the 13-incher but is otherwise identical, since it packs Apple's M4 CPU w/ 10-core GPU, 16GB of RAM and 256GB SSD. Personally that's the one I would buy because I'm a big guy with bad eyes so I like a big screen, but if you're more interested in saving money a brand-new 13-inch MacBook Air M4 for $800 is the best deal I've seen yet on these incredible ultraportables. You can read our full MacBook Air M4 review to see why we call this svelte powerhouse the top value in laptops right now. Even at the standard $999 asking price this thing is hard to beat thanks to its winning combination of high-speed performance, portability and incredible power efficiency. Now that it's cheaper than I've ever seen it? This is a deal you absolutely don't want to miss if you want a new MacBook Air this year. I grew up using Windows PCs, but with the advent of Apple silicon it's been hard not to love modern MacBooks. If you skim our 15-inch MacBook Air M4 review you can check out our lab testing results to see exactly how speedy these M4-powered monsters are when it comes to serious work and photo/video editing. Plus, the new Sky Blue color scheme looks lovely in person and adds a fun splash of color to the standard lineup of black, white and gray laptops you see at the coffee shop. Frankly, the only drawback is the relatively limited selection of ports you get, as each MacBook Air M4 comes with just two Thunderbolt ports and a headphone jack. But that's really all you need these days, and if you want more options you can invest in an inexpensive USB dock to get as many different ports as you need! But act fast if you want one of the best MacBooks ever made for the lowest price I've ever seen, because I'm confident this deal won't last long.
