Cincinnati Bearcats junior Landyn Vidourek picked in MLB Draft by LA Dodgers in 3rd round
Battling an oblique strain, the lead-off hitter went 2-for-4 and stole a couple bases as the Bearcats defeated Wake Forest from the Atlantic Coast Conference, 11-6.

Unfortunately, Vidourek's strain kept him out of the Tennessee game the next night and the rematch with Wake Forest the following day and the Bearcats lost those games 10-6 and 10-3, respectively.
Vidourek thus leaves UC a winner as Sunday night he was selected in the third round of the Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Vidourek was the 104th pick of the draft's first day.
The former Badin Ram knew the Dodgers were interested, but wasn't sure if he would hear his name called.
"It was kind of debatable," he said. "It was in the air."
The now-former Cincinnati Bearcat felt he could be a pro by his third season and now will wear the Dodger blue made famous by some of his favorite players.

"Freddie (Freeman), Shohei Ohtani, you can't go wrong," Vidourek said.

Vidourek's stock rose in 2025
The Site justbaseball.com recently had Vidourek listed at No. 300 of their top 315 prospects, but days ago he was elevated to No. 142, ahead of Bearcats teammate and Big 12 Player of the Year Kerrington Cross who was at No. 158.
MLB Draft Combine helped Vidourek
At the MLB Draft Combine at Chase Field in Phoenix last month, Vidourek turned heads with the second-longest home run (424 feet) and the second-hardest hit ball with an exit velocity of 113.44 mph.

Vidourek's steady climb at UC
This past season the 6-foot-1, 192-pound outfielder hit .304 with 14 home runs, 47 RBIs and 39 steals. His on-base percentage has increased in each of his three seasons going from .359 to .418 to .434.

Vidourek hit .248 his freshman season in 42 games, then .247 as a sophomore in 52 games. He had 10 total home runs those first two seasons before leading the Bearcats with 14 this past spring.

Vidourek was a Cincinnati Bearcats 'hometown hero'
Vidourek hit .338 and .389 in two seasons with the Badin Rams, stealing 48 total bases. He doubled as Badin's quarterback throwing for 13 touchdowns and running for 894 yards and 15 scores despite missing the state semifinal and championship game injured. He shared Greater Catholic League-Coed Division Offensive Player of the Year honors on the gridiron with teammate Jack Walsh.

Those years are long gone — and Lopez is betting that even better years are ahead. Advertisement Lopez discussed his decision to join the Clippers on a two-year contract worth nearly $18 million on Monday at NBA Summer League in Las Vegas, raving about how far the once-woebegone franchise has come. The Clippers have posted 14 consecutive winning seasons, the longest active streak in the NBA. 'It's crazy to see, but it's very cool," Lopez told reporters. "Seeing the climb, the ascent, I'm a Cali boy. I grew up in the valley in North Hollywood. Obviously, things were very different back then. And to see where the Clippers have come now, it's just astonishing. It's beautiful. I'm glad to be a part of it. And hopefully, I can help take them even further up.' Lopez was born in 1988 and over the first 25 years of his life the Clippers had the NBA's worst overall record. In the 12 years since, they have the league's second-best record behind only Golden State. Lopez comes back to the Los Angeles area — he played for the Lakers in 2017-18 — after spending seven seasons with Milwaukee and helping the Bucks win a title. He averaged 13 points and 2.1 blocks per game in those seven seasons with the Bucks, and the 37-year-old has averaged 15.9 points in 17 NBA seasons. He's been a starter for basically his entire career, though may see a different role with the Clippers — already a staunch defensive team featuring defensive player of the year candidate and fellow 7-footer Ivica Zubac as the starting center. 'I think we complement each other extremely well," Lopez said. "Obviously, we'll be very big. I think we'll be great defensively, just dominating the paint, sealing the paint off. And then offensively, we complement each other there as well. Spread the floor for him, give him all the room in the paint for him to go wild.' But the biggest perk, Lopez thinks, is joining a team that he believes is good enough to contend for a title. 'The money's nice, but that's not what it's about for me," Lopez said. "I love playing, I love hooping, I've loved it since I was a little kid. I watched my older brothers play. I've just always been around it and I love winning just as much.
