Twin Cities weekend: Vintage markets, Yacht Club Festival, Minnehaha Falls Art Fair
👕 Twin Cities Vintage Flea: This pop-up flea market in North Loop from the group behind the popular Totally Rad Vintage Fest features clothing, collectibles and memorabilia that must all be at least 20 years old. Saturday, 10am-3pm
🛹 Summer Market at Forgotten Star Brewing: The Fridley brewery hosts 30+ vintage vendors alongside a pop-up skate park and live music, which includes a band covering Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game soundtracks. Saturday, 12-8pm
🌸 Markets on Main: This new outdoor market on the riverfront in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood features local farmers, florists, handmade goods, art, vintage sellers and more. Sunday, 10am-2pm
🥰 Audrey's thought bubble: As someone who spends a solid percentage of her summer paychecks at vintage events, I can't recommend coffee/record shop Disco Death's monthly markets enough.
In my experience, it's always a wide variety of vendors, styles and eras, and almost all shops have racks or dig piles with items under $10. Plus, great coffee! Sunday, 11am-5pm
More things to do ...
🎸 The Minnesota Yacht Club Festival returns Friday for three days of live music on Raspberry Island in St. Paul, with headliners that include Hozier, Alabama Shakes, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Green Day and Sublime.
Most general admission tickets are sold out, but you can still grab a Saturday pass for $150+ — verified resale tickets for all three days start at $295.
🎨 The Minnehaha Falls Art Fair is also back Friday-Sunday with nearly 200 artists throughout the south Minneapolis park, plus a new " Vintage and Funky Fest" on the other side of the falls with more eclectic vendors. Bonus: Every booth will have items for under $30.
🪵Fans of annual community festivals have several options this weekend: Lumberjack Days in Stillwater, which runs Friday-Sunday, and Hopkins' Raspberry Festival now through Sunday.
Both feature a parade, artist market, food vendors, live music, games and more, though Lumberjack Days will also have appearances by Paul Bunyan. Free
🍔 Eat burgers for a good cause at Modist Brewing Company's Burgertopia, an all-you-can-eat event this Sunday that benefits Help the House Foundation, a group that supports hospitality industry workers.

Irish Fair of Minnesota organizers say they're prepared for high temps, crowds
As the heat advisory began Friday afternoon in the Twin Cities, so did the Irish Fair of Minnesota. "We practice all year for this. We rehearse. And we are just so excited to be here, and we love being on stage," said Molly O'Malley. This is the 45th year of Minnesota Irish Fair. Organizers expect somewhere between 15,000 and 25,000 people to attend the event, which will take place on Harriet Island in St. Paul. O'Malley and her fellow Rince Na Chroi dancers have been at the fair long enough to know they need to be prepared for anything, even a heat advisory. "We're ready for the heat. We've got these nice, sleeveless dresses so that's awesome," said O'Malley. For others, there are refillable water stations and plenty of shade covering vendors and concert stages. "The heat is a thing, you know we're Minnesotans, we get used to it. We have plenty of ways for people to stay cool and come out and have a really great time this weekend," said Macy Ashby, co-chair of the Irish Fair. There will be 10 food vendors and dozens of other marketplace vendors who say despite a Friday heat index of 100 degrees or more, they're ready to sell. Stuart Marley drove cross country to sell his merchandise, which includes a line of Guinness clothing. He's been coming to the Irish Fair for years and knows the weather is even more unpredictable than the sales. "We sell fragrances. We well Hannah Hats that are actually made in Ireland," said Marley. "I think two years ago we had hail on a Friday. Massive, massive, hail." Hopefully that won't be the case this year, but even if it is, bagpiper Ally Crowley-Duncan plans to play right through it. "It's a tough instrument. You kind of sweat in all climates when you play it but hydration, electrolytes. That's my goal. We've done it before and we'll do it again," said Crowley-Duncan, who is also known as "Ally the Piper." The Irish Fair begins at 3 p.m. Friday and will run through 7 p.m. on Sunday.

SoMi Art Fair, formerly Uptown Art Fair, kicks off in Minneapolis
A 60-year-old Twin Cities summer tradition has a new home and a new name. In January, organizers of Minneapolis' Uptown Art Fair announced it was relocating about 4.5 miles south from the popular Uptown neighborhood to the parking lot of Bachman's off West 60th Street and Lyndale Avenue South. Now called the SoMi Art Fair, short for "South Minneapolis," it kicked off on Saturday morning and features more than 300 artists. Attendees will also find art demonstrations, hands-on activities, live music and plenty of food. Jill Osiecki, the fair's director, told WCCO earlier this year that on-going construction and closures along Hennepin Avenue — which led to the fair's cancellation last summer — was the impetus behind the move and rebranding. "We must embrace the changes thrust upon us and evolve into something uniquely special, mirroring the spirit of Uptown itself," Osiecki said. The SoMi Art Fair is open Saturday through 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find more information on the fair's website.

Anthony Hopkins' Hannibal invites Kim Kardashian to 'dinner' wearing Skims face wrap
Anthony Hopkins had a salivating reaction to Kim Kardashian's new Skims face wraps. The Hollywood icon took to Instagram on Thursday, July 31, wearing a face wrap and invoking his character Dr. Hannibal Lecter from 1991's "The Silence of the Lambs" and 2001's "Hannibal." "Hello Kim, I'm already feeling 10 years younger," Hopkins, 87, says in the video, making Hannibal's signature slurping hiss. "Goodbye!" Kardashian, 44, seemed to have sent the beloved actor official merch, as Hopkins captioned the post: "Thank you, Kim. Don't be afraid to come over for dinner." The reality TV star shared Hopkins' video on her Instagram stories, writing, "I'm screaming!" Online, people have roasted Skims' new seamless sculpt face wrap, which encases the head, chin and neck, leaving the ears and back of the head exposed. Some users have pointed out that models wearing the wrap resemble the cannibalistic serial killer played by Hopkins over three films, including 2002's "Red Dragon." A post shared by Anthony Hopkins (@anthonyhopkins) Kim Kardashian's Skims face wrap sparks jokes: 'What in the Hannibal' Skims recently unveiled the face wrap as a new addition to the clothing brand's shapewear line designed to offer jaw support and marketed as "infused with collagen yarn." The brand calls it a "must-have addition to your nightly routine." The wrap, made of polyamide and elastane, quickly sold out online, according to the Skims website. A post shared by SKIMS (@skims) The face wrap takes a page out of South Korean skincare trends and TikTok viral "morning shed" routines, both of which offer an elaborate take on skincare. Skims has long offered a unique take on sculpting garments, offering everything from the nipple bra to hip-enhancing padded shorts, to viral and often mixed reactions.
