🛹 Summer Market at Forgotten Star Brewing: The Fridley brewery hosts 30+ vintage vendors alongside a pop-up skate park and live music, which includes a band covering Tony Hawk Pro Skater video game soundtracks. Saturday, 12-8pm
🌸 Markets on Main: This new outdoor market on the riverfront in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood features local farmers, florists, handmade goods, art, vintage sellers and more. Sunday, 10am-2pm

In my experience, it's always a wide variety of vendors, styles and eras, and almost all shops have racks or dig piles with items under $10. Plus, great coffee! Sunday, 11am-5pm

🎸 The Minnesota Yacht Club Festival returns Friday for three days of live music on Raspberry Island in St. Paul, with headliners that include Hozier, Alabama Shakes, Fall Out Boy, Weezer, Green Day and Sublime.

Irish Fair of Minnesota organizers say they're prepared for high temps, crowds
As the heat advisory began Friday afternoon in the Twin Cities, so did the Irish Fair of Minnesota. "We practice all year for this. We rehearse. And we are just so excited to be here, and we love being on stage," said Molly O'Malley. This is the 45th year of Minnesota Irish Fair. Organizers expect somewhere between 15,000 and 25,000 people to attend the event, which will take place on Harriet Island in St. Paul. O'Malley and her fellow Rince Na Chroi dancers have been at the fair long enough to know they need to be prepared for anything, even a heat advisory. "We're ready for the heat. We've got these nice, sleeveless dresses so that's awesome," said O'Malley. For others, there are refillable water stations and plenty of shade covering vendors and concert stages. "The heat is a thing, you know we're Minnesotans, we get used to it. We have plenty of ways for people to stay cool and come out and have a really great time this weekend," said Macy Ashby, co-chair of the Irish Fair. There will be 10 food vendors and dozens of other marketplace vendors who say despite a Friday heat index of 100 degrees or more, they're ready to sell. Stuart Marley drove cross country to sell his merchandise, which includes a line of Guinness clothing. He's been coming to the Irish Fair for years and knows the weather is even more unpredictable than the sales. "We sell fragrances. We well Hannah Hats that are actually made in Ireland," said Marley. "I think two years ago we had hail on a Friday. Massive, massive, hail." Hopefully that won't be the case this year, but even if it is, bagpiper Ally Crowley-Duncan plans to play right through it. "It's a tough instrument. You kind of sweat in all climates when you play it but hydration, electrolytes. That's my goal. We've done it before and we'll do it again," said Crowley-Duncan, who is also known as "Ally the Piper." The Irish Fair begins at 3 p.m. Friday and will run through 7 p.m. on Sunday.

SoMi Art Fair, formerly Uptown Art Fair, kicks off in Minneapolis
A 60-year-old Twin Cities summer tradition has a new home and a new name. In January, organizers of Minneapolis' Uptown Art Fair announced it was relocating about 4.5 miles south from the popular Uptown neighborhood to the parking lot of Bachman's off West 60th Street and Lyndale Avenue South. Now called the SoMi Art Fair, short for "South Minneapolis," it kicked off on Saturday morning and features more than 300 artists. Attendees will also find art demonstrations, hands-on activities, live music and plenty of food. Jill Osiecki, the fair's director, told WCCO earlier this year that on-going construction and closures along Hennepin Avenue — which led to the fair's cancellation last summer — was the impetus behind the move and rebranding. "We must embrace the changes thrust upon us and evolve into something uniquely special, mirroring the spirit of Uptown itself," Osiecki said. The SoMi Art Fair is open Saturday through 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Find more information on the fair's website.
