Indian Army conducts trials of next-gen defence technologies under simulated operational conditions

New Delhi, May 31 (UNI) The Indian Army is currently undertaking extensive capacity development demonstrations at key locations across the country, including the Pokhran Field Firing Ranges, Babina Field Firing Ranges, and Joshimath, with dedicated Air Defence equipment demonstrations also scheduled at Agra and Gopalpur.
These field trials are being conducted under near-combat conditions, integrating electronic warfare simulations to assess the performance of cutting-edge defence systems rigorously, a Defence Ministry statement said.
On May 27, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, visited Babina Field Firing Ranges and reviewed the ongoing demonstrations and interacted with all stakeholders.
The demonstrations feature a wide array of advanced technologies developed under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aimed at accelerating indigenous capability development.
The trials mark a significant step in the Indian Army's roadmap for a 'Decade of Transformation' and are designed to ensure rapid absorption of emerging technologies to meet evolving battlefield requirements. A large number of defence industry partners are taking part in the demonstration, reflecting the increasing synergy between the Indian Army and domestic manufacturers.
Key platforms undergoing evaluation include Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS); UAV Launched Precision Guided Munition (ULPGM); Runway Independent (RWI); Remotely Piloted Aerial Systems (RPAS); Counter-UAS Solutions; Loitering Munitions; Specialised Vertical Launch (SVL) Drones; Precision Multi Munition Delivery Systems; Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDDIS); Low Level Light Weight Radars; VSHORADS (Next Generation) IR Systems and Electronic Warfare (EW) platforms.
Through these evaluations, the Indian Army aims to strengthen its technological edge, enhance operational readiness, and reaffirm its commitment to indigenous innovation and self-reliance in defence capability development.

Kochi/Lakshadweep, Jun 2 (UNI) The current focus of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep is on ensuring quality infrastructure, teaching-learning materials, and ICT facilities in all schools of all the islands, Administrator Praful Patel has said. "Major initiatives undertaken by UTLA to enhance the quality of education include 100% conversion of classrooms into smart classrooms, provision of e-libraries, ICT labs, language labs, tele-education centers, sensor rooms, and virtual reality labs," the Administrator told UNI. On education sector, Praful Patel said "the literacy rate in the UT is 91.65% as per 2011 census. There are no dropouts in the schools. The Administration has provided universal access to school education by ensuring schools in all the islands." Further, as part of New Education Policy (NEP), Digital Literacy courses have been implemented from Grade 6 onwards. Under PM SHRI program eleven schools have been selected. Further, High speed internet facility have been provided in all classrooms, computer labs and libraries. The Laptop Scheme for college students has been implemented to enhance their access to digital resources and improve their academic and professional growth. Ekalavya Top Scorer Award is implemented to recognize the academic excellence, dedication and spirit of achievement of the students from class 3 to 12. The upgradation and creation aimed at improving school infrastructure in Minicoy, Androth and Kavaratti is currently in progress. A proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs for the approval of construction of a Polytechnic college in Minicoy at an estimated cost of Rs 163.50 crores.

Mumbai, June 2 (UNI) The BSE Sensex on Monday dropped 610.30 pts at 80,840.71 in early trade on weak global cues. Even US tariff concern hit the market further. The Nifty fell 182 pts at 24,567.30. The BSE Sensex opened on a weak note at 81,214.42, falling 237 pts, it was immediately tanked more than 600 pts to 80,840.71 pts. As it registered intra-day high and low at 81,285.85 and 80,802.60 respectively. The Nifty registered days high at 24,717.55 and low at 24,559.45 pts. Selling was seen across the board, especially IT, Metal and Focused IT were down more than 1 percent. The Mid cap eased 0.28 pc and small cap by 0.45 pc. In 30 scrips, 7 advanced while 23 declined. The losers were L& T by 1.90 pc to Rs 3605.90, Tata Steel by 1.74 pc to Rs 158.20, Infosys by 1.38 pc to Rs 1401 and HCL Technology by 1.36 pc to Rs 1615.25. The gainers were Hind Unilever by 1.22 pc to Rs 2378, Nestle India Ltd by 0.52 pc to Rs 2409.10, Adani Ports by 0.43 pc to Rs 1438.55 and Eternal by 0.31 pc to Rs 239.50. Washington, June 1 (UNI) U.S. President Donald Trump will soon announce a new nominee for the head of NASA, following his decision to withdraw former candidate Jared Isaacman, a close ally of Elon Musk, an official said. "After a thorough review of prior associations, I am hereby withdrawing the nomination of Jared Isaacman to head NASA," Trump wrote on his Truth Social site. "I will soon announce a new Nominee who will be Mission aligned, and put America First in Space." Late last year, Trump named Isaacman, a billionaire and private astronaut, as the nominee for NASA chief. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved his nomination in late April.
