The legendary 14-time champion trainer is having a major revamp ahead of the new jumps season.
And Keighley, the 17-year-old son of trainer Martin, is one of several new names through the door.
He will arrive at a yard that has turned the likes of Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen into Champion Jump Jockeys.
While Gold Cup-winning rider Paddy Brennan and multiple Grade 1 winner Sam Twiston-Davies all learned their trade under Nicholls.
Keighley caught Nicholls' attention on the point-to-point circuit.
But he showed he can mix it under rules with a win on Pacific at Worcester last week, seeing off the likes of former King George-winning jockey Gavin Sheehan in the process.
Keighley comes from a strong racing background and showed his skill in the saddle in the Shetland Pony Grand National at the London International Horse Show in 2021.
One person who saw the up-and-coming sensation in action said: "Future jockeys don't stand a chance after the last if Freddie is in contention."

While another said even as a young teenager he 'oozed confidence' on top of a horse.
The race itself churns out top talent including the likes of Saffie Osborne and Charlie Todd - as well as former Champion Flat Jockey Jim Crowley.
Speaking of his newest recruit, Nicholls told the
"He's been brought up with horses and he's been doing plenty, including (riding on former Greatwood Gold Cup winner) Sametegal, and started off really well.
"He's starting off right at the bottom of the ladder and has got a long way to go.
"But if you look at our record with conditionals over the years then he's come to the right place to learn."
Nicholls also said he plans to give Keighley plenty of rides when the season kicks off properly again in October.
The trainer has a crack squad of jockeys headlined by Cobden.
But below him in the pecking order are the likes of Paddy Power Gold Cup winner and last year's Champion Conditional Freddie Gingell, plus Keighley's fellow rookies Jay Tidball and Ben Bromley.
Nicholls added: "You can learn plenty from just schooling with those older boys like Harry and you need young people to keep coming through.
"He'll get opportunities."
Nicholls had to sit back and watch as Willie Mullins and Dan Skelton battled it out for top trainer honours at Sandown in April.
But, buoyed by the likes of Cheltenham Festival winner Caldwell Potter, looks set to go all out for glory in the 2025-26 season.
Part of the plan for success has been
While a number of backroom changes have also been confirmed.
Fergal O'Brien's former right-hand man Charlie St Quinton joins as Nicholls' new assistant after the departure of Charlie Davies, who has started a new career in insurance.
The Racing Post also report that George Edgedale has become second assistant, while Nicholls' daughter Olive will now be pupil assistant and continue to ride as an amateur.

And those combinations of youth and experience were elsewhere in the team as well with Michael Noonan, on his 17th birthday, partnered by 35-year-old Rory Gaffney. And, in defence, Cory O'Sullivan had Roberto Lopes and Gary O'Neill to show him the ropes. Most read in Football Despite the unfamiliar look of the side, there was still an expectation that Rovers would have too much for the visitors on the night and might even match or surpass their record aggregate European win of 7-0 against FRAM Reykjavik 43 years ago. But it soon became clear that this was a game which they simply wanted to negotiate without over-exerting themselves or picking up any unnecessary injuries with no real impetus to perform to their potential. League of Ireland mascots compete in charity race in Naas There were times before he went off that Gaffney looked a danger but his marker Geovanni Barba impressed and, indeed, provided the pass for St Joseph's best chance before the break. The part-timers had the first chance of the game when Manuel Sánchez picked out Jayce Olivero but he blazed over the bar. Almost immediately, at the other end, Gaffney cut in from the right and extracted a good save from keeper Bradley Banda. Grant was quickest to the rebound but he fired well over when he would have expected to have further tested Banda. Just after the hour mark, Barba played a slide-rule pass through to Javi Forján but Ed McGinty was alert to the danger, racing off his line to deny him. They carved out more openings before the interval when, after Juan Pena appealed for a penalty, Angel Martinez was unable to keep his effort on target . Given how the first half had gone, and a desire to manage the minutes of some of his older players, it was no surprise to see a double substitute before the restart. Lee Grace was sent on for Lopes with John McGovern coming on for Gaffney. The changes did not yield an immediate improvement, although Noonan did force Banda into action, with a further three changes made just after the hour mark. They saw Dylan Watts, Danny Mandroiu and Sean Kavanagh brought on in a bid to give the home crowd something to shout about. But, although they were clearly tiring, the part-timers continued to apply themselves and ensure that the home side got nothing easily. They occasionally threatened on the break too with substitute Pablo Rodriguez getting on the end of a cross but he was unable to direct his header on target and, in any case, he was flagged for offside. STEPHEN KENNY praised St Pat's for checking out of the Four Seasons with a rain-soaked aggregate win over Nomme Kalju in the UEFA Conference League. Joe Redmond's 90th minute goal sent the second leg in Tallinn to extra time after the hosts had overturned the first leg deficit with goals either side of half-time. 2 St Patrick's Athletic manager Stephen Kenny praised his side's win over Nomma Kalju Credit: Evaldas Semiotas/Sportsfile 2 Jake Mulraney and Joe Redmond scored as they came from 2-0 down Credit: Evaldas Semiotas/Sportsfile And with the rain cascading onto the pitch below, Jake Mulraney clinched the Kenny said: 'It had everything. We were very persistent. Their goalkeeper made some unbelievable saves in the game but thankfully we managed to get the equaliser and the winner. 'We are delighted to win it because we know how hard it is to get through away from home in Europe . 'To come from 2-0 down, to have setbacks such as Aidan Keena's, with a potential thigh muscle injury, was really testament to our character.' ST PAT'S were singing in the rain as Jake Mulraney's goal in extra-time edged them beyond Nomme Kalju and into the next round of the UEFA Conference League. They feared the worst when two goals either side of half-time put the Slovenian club ahead on aggregate in Tallinn. 2 Jake Mulraney scored the winner as St Pat's beat Nomme Kalju Credit: Evaldas Semiotas/Sportsfile 2 Joe Redmond sent the game to extra time with a 90th minute goal Credit: Evaldas Semiotas/Sportsfile However, Joe Redmond spared their blushes with a 90 th minute goal to send the game to extra-time, before Jake Mulraney's cross-cum-shot completed the comeback. Their reward is a date with the loser of Besiktas vs Shaktar Donetsk in the qualifiers . All told, Stephen Kenny's men made Thursday's task far harder for themselves than it needed to be having led on aggregate going into the second leg. Pat's started the game aggressively, with Jake Mulraney – in for the injured Zach Elbouzedi – and Mason Melia testing Maksim Pavlov, while a cross from the former very nearly found the latter at the back stick. Read More on Conference League Kalju had offered little to nothing going the other way, despite needing at least one goal to keep their Conference League dreams alive. And then, out of nothing and with three minutes of the first-half left, the Slovenians were in front. Kristjan Kask made a good run inside Joe Redmond and received down the left. His low cross found Ivans Patrikejeva who, after escaping Barry Baggley, stroked beyond Anang to take the lead on the night and level the tie. He swung a lovely cross into the middle, where Mattias Mannilaan headed home to give the hosts the lead on aggregate. Chris Forrester – who scored the first leg winner at Richmond Park – was immediately brought on in response but it was Aidan Keena who was twice denied by Pavlov. A difficult task was made all the harder when Keena had to be withdrawn injured for Conor Carty with just under 20 minutes to go. With every passing minute, Pat's got more and more desperate. A slick give and go between Forrester and fellow substitute Brandon Kavanagh presented the former with a volley chance that was blocked. The ball broke out to the edge of the box for Ryan McLaughlin, whose effort was thwarted off the line. All the while, they had to be wary of the threat at the other end, with Guilherme Smith forcing a good save from Anang after skipping inside McLaughlin and Jamie Lennon. They finally got the break they needed in injury time when Jake Mulraney was fouled outside the box and took the set piece himself. He drew an unconvincing save from Pavlov and Joe Redmond was there to tuck in the rebound to send the tie to extra time. Rain cascaded down in Tallinn during the interval and, two minutes after the restart, Pat's took retook the aggregate lead. Once again, it came from Mulraney, who cut onto his left and sent a curling effort over Pavlov to complete the comeback. Intentional or no, Pat's had their aggregate lead back.
