‘People thought I was going to die': Da L.E.S opens up about life-changing stroke
Da L.E.S suffered a stroke on his birthday in July 2024, spent a month unconscious in hospital, and is now sharing his recovery journey to inspire others facing health challenges.
After months of family updates, the rapper personally gave an update via YouTube, showing hospital footage and the rehabilitation process while crediting God for his survival.
Da L.E.S. views his survival as bigger than himself, dedicating his healing journey to motivating others and proving that life-altering events 'can happen to anybody.'
Rapper and Love & Hip Hop SA star Leslie Mampe, popularly known as Da L.E.S, has broken his silence about the stroke that nearly claimed his life in July 2024, sharing an intimate glimpse into his recovery journey.
In a heartfelt video posted on his YouTube channel, Da L.E.S Network, the rapper opened up about his month-long hospital stay and ongoing rehabilitation, marking his first public appearance since the life-altering event.
'I suffered a stroke. People thought I was going to die. I made it. I think right now, it's just to motivate people. People want to know what's wrong with me. I want to help people because shit is real; it can happen to anybody.'
'One minute, you're cool; you're like me; next minute, you experience the worst. I feel like my life has changed, but it ain't the end. This is bigger - I have to do this in my life. I just want to document my life,' Da L.E.S revealed in the emotional video.'
The rapper then detailed the traumatic timeline of events: 'So what happened was I had a stroke, it happened on my birthday, and I woke up a month later. Now, I'm just going with the flow,' he said.
He said a stroke is not something one can control.
'I'm just lucky to be alive. Shout out to all the people that came out. I feel good. I feel happy that I'm still here, but the whole purpose of me filming is to let y'all into my life in a real way, I think, and also just to inspire.'
When Da L.E.S initially missed his birthday celebration in July, his family kept details private, posting a brief statement on his Instagram: 'Due to unforeseen circumstances, Da L.E.S will unfortunately not be in attendance at his birthday celebration this evening. Thank you for understanding.'
As concerns grew, the Mampe family issued a more comprehensive statement revealing the severity of his condition: 'Whilst he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones, and his family call on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period,' the family said, promising to share updates on Da L.E.S' condition as they became available.
A subsequent update on his Instagram account provided encouraging news about his progress: 'He is receiving rehabilitation and is taking things slow with the support of his loving family.'
Throughout his recovery journey, Da L.E.S has maintained deep gratitude for his survival, crediting his faith above all else. 'I owe it all to God,' he shared, describing his survival as nothing short of miraculous.
The family's most recent statement reflects the overwhelming support the rapper has received during this difficult period: 'Da L.E.S is incredibly thankful for the outpouring of love, support and prayers from his fans, friends, and everyone who's reached out. He will continue to update everyone on his healing process and appreciates all the continued encouragement. Healing takes time, but he's staying positive and focused on full recovery.'

Matthew Goode says he didn't get a James Bond audition for this ‘dark' reason
Matthew Goode knows exactly why he isn't a Martini-sipping 007. The English actor, 47, recently revealed he didn't land the role of James Bond – much less receive an audition. 'I didn't audition. I went in and met Barbara [Broccoli],' Goode said while on Thursday's episode of the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast. 9 Matthew Goode talks James Bond. JoshHorowitz/YouTube Broccoli, 65, along with her brother Michael G. Wilson, 83, were the producers of the Bond franchise before they relinquished creative control of the films to Amazon MGM Studios for a reported $1 billion in February. 'I didn't get to the audition,' Goode explained, 'but it was quite a funny one because — and she's gorgeous and just a lovely, lovely person — she was like, 'So what's your idea for Bond?' And I was like, 'My idea for Bond. We've gotta take it back to the books, you know? Really, we absolutely have to make this guy an alcoholic, a drug addict. He hates himself. He hates women. He hates a lot of people. He's in deep pain. He's brilliant at killing people.'' 9 Matthew Goode on the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast. JoshHorowitz/YouTube That wasn't the idea Broccoli had in mind. Goode reflected, 'I think by the end of the interview, she was like, 'Mhmm. Next.' I wanted to make it really dark.' 'It takes great courage for them to let go,' Brosnan expressed to the Telegraph. 'I hope that [Amazon] handles the work and the character with dignity and imagination and respect.' 'In this world that is moving so fast now, at the speed of light, [the takeover] does come with a certain lament,' Brosnan continued. 'I thought it was coming for some time, I guess, but I think it was the right decision for Barbara and Michael.'

Adamari Lopez bombshell: TV star hired a PI when she thought partner was cheating
Ever felt like snooping on a partner you suspect of cheating? Adamari Lopez has no problem with that. As long as someone is doing the prying, namely a professional. The former telenovela actress confessed around the 16 minute mark of Thursday's 'Ada y Chiqui de Show, ' a newish lifestyle show on YouTube with her pal Chiquibaby (aka Stephanie Himonidis Sedano), that she once hired a PI to do her dirty work. That's short for private investigator. The Univision personality ('Desiguales') and Chiqui were discussing who was the more jealous and toxic of the two, and the topic of affairs came up. 'It's like the old saying, 'Seek and you will find,'' said Lopez, touching her nose. 'You know what happens; we have an intuition.' Lopez went on to say it's better to leave than stay with a significant other who doesn't want to be with you. 'If someone gives me reason to be jealous and to make an accurate, correct and well-thought-out decision you have to gather all your sources,' she said. 'Or else you'll turn into a crazy person.' Lopez explained the process to Chiqui, who appeared shocked: You pay the PI, and he or she gives up the goods, including photos, videos, 'de todo' (everything). The Puerto Rican native claimed that men are really bad at hiding affairs. 'They swear that they know how to do things,' Lopez said. 'But they don't know a damn thing [about how to have a side piece].' The former 'Hoy Dia' star believed the reason many stray is they lack the 'huevos' to communicate if something is wrong. 'Well, if you're looking elsewhere, I can too,' she said. 'Then I can leave the relationship to find my peace, my tranquility and find a relationship that's worth it and one that isn't with a [bleep] who deceives you.' Lopez did not name the ex in question, but she was married to Latin pop star Luis Fonsi for roughly three years and later wrote a memoir about their tumultuous time together. In 2012's 'Viviendo' ('Living'), the breast cancer survivor divulged that the 'Despacito' singer was unfaithful to her, which he vehemently denied. A few years after the split, Lopez fell in love with her 'Mira Quién Baila' partner Toni Costa, with whom she has a daughter, now 10. They broke up in 2021; the reason was not publicly disclosed.

Doechii and Tyler, the Creator Song ‘Get Right' Debuts at Louis Vuitton Fashion Show
A new Doechii and Tyler, the Creator song is on the way. On Tuesday, during Louis Vuitton's fashion show, a new track by the rap pair, titled 'Get Right,' played publicly for the very first time — and it might be a Song of the Summer contender. The upbeat new track, which Complex reports is produced by Pharrell, played as the models walked down the elongated runway, showing off the 2026 Summer/Spring show at Place Georges-Pompidou in Paris. Doechii's vocals took over the song for the first two minutes before Tyler swooped in near the end of the track. Cardi B Is Feisty and Ready for Summer on 'Outside' 'Get Right' marks the second time the stars collaborated after they paired on 'Balloon' from Tyler's 2024 album, Chromakopia. The pair performed the song during Camp Flog Gnaw last November and at his Los Angeles show in February. 'Genius, love her. That girl's an alien. She's an alien,' Tyler told Narduwar in March when speaking about Doechii. 'I came across Doechii on something that YouTube recommended. It was the 'Catfish' record or 'Nissan Altima.' I was like, 'What is this? Damn, this girl pretty as hell.' And I clicked it and I was blown away and I just kept going.' The new track may be a taste of new music expected from both artists this year: Tyler is currently on a headlining festival run celebrating his 2024 album Chromakopia, while Doechii last joined The Weeknd on a remix of 'Timeless,' after dropping an extended version of her Grammy-winning album Alligator Bites Never Heal earlier this year.
