Former Cheltenham, Shrewsbury and Exeter striker Ryan Bowman has been banned for three-and-a-half years by the Football Association for placing 6,397 bets over an eight year period.
The 33-year-old, who was released by Cheltenham this summer, admitted all of the charges.

The FA commission alleged he had placed a bet from the substitutes bench in a game between Shrewsbury and MK Dons in January 2023, something he denied.
Bowman placed almost 2,600 bets during December 2020 and July 2021 while he was at Exeter and another 3,100 between August 2021 and July 2023 while playing for Shrewsbury.
Bowman made his last appearance for Cheltenham on 1 January.
His ban will run until September 2028.

Palestine Action High Court challenge can go ahead, judge rules

Palestine Action's co-founder has won a bid to bring a High Court challenge over the group's ban as a terror organisation. Huda Ammori made a bid to challenge Home Secretary Yvette Cooper's decision to proscribe the group under anti-terror laws, announced after the group claimed responsibility for action in which two Voyager planes were damaged at RAF Brize Norton on June 20. The ban means that membership of, or support for, the direct action group is a criminal offence punishable by up to 14 years in prison. Earlier this month, lawyers for Ms Ammori asked a judge to allow her to bring the High Court challenge over the ban, describing it as an 'unlawful interference' with freedom of expression. And in a decision on Wednesday, judge Mr Justice Chamberlain said that two parts of the arguments on Ms Ammori's behalf were 'reasonably arguable'. In his ruling, he said that it was 'reasonably arguable' that the proscription 'amounts to a disproportionate interference' of Ms Ammori's rights to freedom of expression and freedom of assembly. He said: 'That being so, the point will have to be determined at a substantive hearing and it would not be appropriate for me to say more now.' The judge continued that a second argument, that Ms Cooper failed to consult Palestine Action 'in breach of natural justice', was also 'reasonably arguable'. He said: 'As a matter of principle, I consider that it is reasonably arguable that a duty to consult arose.' He continued: 'Having considered the evidence, I also consider it reasonably arguable that there was no compelling reason why consultation could not have been undertaken here.' Raza Husain KC, for Ms Ammori, previously told the court at the hearing on July 21 that the ban had made the UK 'an international outlier' and was 'repugnant'. Mr Husain added: 'The decision to proscribe Palestine Action had the hallmarks of an authoritarian and blatant abuse of power.' The Home Office is defending the legal action. Sir James Eadie KC, for the department, said in written submissions that by causing serious damage to property, Palestine Action was 'squarely' within part of the terrorism laws used in proscription. He said: 'There is no credible basis on which it can be asserted that the purpose of this activity is not designed to influence the Government, or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause.' Ms Cooper announced plans to proscribe Palestine Action on June 23, saying that the vandalism of the two planes, which police said caused an estimated £7 million of damage, was 'disgraceful'.

James Pearce confirms Liverpool have signed a SPECIAL talent

By © IMAGO - Richard Hughes Liverpool 2024-25 Liverpool's best signing flies under the radar In short, Liverpool's first-team squad is looking a LOT better than it did last season. And that squad was good enough to win the Premier League title in Arne Slot's first season in charge. But it's another, lesser-heralded deal that is making the biggest impact during this preseason campaign. Hughes and Liverpool owners FSG were criticised in some quarters last summer for a relative lack of transfer action. Having missed out on Martin Zubimendi, Liverpool opted to stay out of the race for an alternative. In fact the only first-team player added in last summer's window was Federico Chiesa - now considered a busted flush. Liverpool complete deal for special Ngumoha But Liverpool were playing the long game with one signing in particular. Rio Ngumoha was only 15 years old when he swapped Chelsea's youth ranks for Liverpool. It was a hugely controversial deal - with the Londoners losing perhaps the best English attacker in his age group. The Reds couldn't keep Ngumoha under wraps for long however - and he has quickly moved through the categories. © IMAGO - Rio Ngumoha Liverpool 2024-25 Ngumoha's sensational rise Having initially played for the club's under-18s, Ngumoha moved up to Premier League 2 level as well as playing UEFA Youth League. Such is the excitement around the youngster that he has ALREADY made his senior first-team debut. Ngumoha played against Accrington in the FA Cup in January - and has been in and around the senior squad in the months since. The winger is now with Arne Slot's squad for their preseason campaign - starring in Hong Kong against AC Milan and against Yokohama F Marinos on Wednesday morning. Described as a "special talent" by Liverpool insider James Pearce, Ngumoha took the game to the Japanese side after his introduction as a substitute. He scored a remarkable solo goal in the 3-1 victory - with Pearce stating that the England U17 star had lit up the arena. © IMAGO - Rio Ngumoha Liverpool

Bayern Munich officially announces the signing of Luis Diaz.

Getty Images Although there was a lot of tug of war from Barcelona to acquire the player's services, it appears that the Spanish team has completely settled for signing Marcus Rashford, on loan from Manchester United, who will undoubtedly be the player who will occupy the left wing position. The deal for Nico Williams also fell through before the signing of Marcus Rashford, and now one of the Spanish club's targets, Colombian Luis Diaz, has officially become a Bayern Munich player on a four-year contract until 2029. How much did Bayern Munich pay for the Colombian? According to reliable press reports, most notably from Diario AS, Bayern Munich has spent the full amount of 70 million euros to acquire the services of the talented Colombian player from the English giants. Barcelona had submitted an official offer of no more than 60 million euros, which was rejected by Liverpool. Now, the Colombian will receive 17 million euros annually with Bayern Munich, which is three times his previous salary with Liverpool. "I'm very happy. It means a lot to me to be part of Bayern Munich – it's one of the biggest clubs in the world. I want to help my new team with my style of play and my personality. My goal is to win every possible title, and that's what we will work towards every day as a team" said the Colombian.
