Sweden, Ukraine and the Netherlands among qualifiers for Eurovision final

Dutch act Claude Kiambe, 21, performed C'est La Vie, a blend of English and French that promotes a message of dealing with life as it is, while current favourites KAJ performed Swedish song Bara Bada Bastu, about Nordic sauna culture.
The first semi-final of the contest, taking place in Basel, Switzerland, this year, also saw Estonia's Tommy Cash and Poland's Justyna Steczkowska qualify for Saturday's final, alongside Icelandic electronic musician brothers Matthias Davio Matthiasson and Halfdan Helgi Matthiasson, who perform under the name VAEB.
Also making it through were San Marino's Gabry Ponte, Albania's Shkodra Elektronike, Portugal's Napa, Norway's Kyle Alessandro and Ukrainian group Ziferblat.
The five acts that did not qualify were representing Slovenia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Croatia and Cyprus.
While votes were being counted, Canadian singer Dion, a former winner for Switzerland, delivered a pre-recorded video saying the country has 'always held a special place in my heart' as she spoke in French and English.
She said she would want 'nothing more but to be with you' in Basel as discussions continue with the organisers for her to make a stage comeback during Saturday's final amid her health issues.
British fans will have to wait for the second semi-final on Thursday, when the UK's Remember Monday will perform What The Hell Just Happened?, to cast their votes for their favourite Eurovision act.
The UK is one of the 'big five' countries alongside Spain, Germany, France and Italy so automatically has a place in the final, with Switzerland also guaranteed a slot due to its host status this year.
The Grand Final on Saturday will see the 10 qualifiers from each semi-final perform alongside the big five and reigning champion Switzerland, whose act Nemo was victorious last year.

Former Miss France ‘headbutted' by celebrity chef ex-boyfriend

A former French beauty queen has accused a celebrity chef of violent and controlling behaviour during their relationship. Alexandra Rosenfeld claims Jean Imbert, whose clients include Beyoncé, Pharrell Williams and Dua Lipa, broke her nose after headbutting her in the face in 2013. The 38-year-old, who was crowned Miss France in 2006, posted a medical report on Instagram detailing broken bones in her nose as a result of 'direct impact trauma'. But she claims the physical violence paled in comparison to the psychological trauma Mr Imbert inflicted on her when they were together for a year. She wrote: 'Over 10 years ago, I was with someone. He headbutted me once. But strangely, that wasn't what left a mark on me. 'The contempt, the belittling, the silences, the perfectly placed words to make me doubt myself, my worth. It was slow, insidious... I thought the problem was me. I stayed. Because I loved him.' Ms Rosenfeld first told her story to Elle France magazine in April under the alias Éléonore but she revealed her true identity this week with her public statement on Instagram. Mr Imbert, 44, who rose to prominence in 2012 after winning the Top Chef TV competition, denies the allegations. His publicists claim the chef headbutted Ms Rosenfeld during 'a moment of violence suffered by Jean Imbert while he was being grabbed by Éléonore' and that he had been trying to free himself. Ms Rosenfeld refutes this claim. Since first appearing on Top Chef 13 years ago, Mr Imbert has enjoyed a meteoric rise to the top of the French gastronomic elite. On Instagram, the media-savvy chef regularly flaunts his A-list entourage, posing with guests like Beyoncé, Matthew McConaughey, John Travolta, Madonna, and Kylian Mbappé, captain of the French football team. The chef runs an empire of about a dozen restaurants around the world, including Monsieur Dior and the Hotel Plaza Athénée's flagship restaurant in the French capital. This year, he opened a new restaurant at Disneyland Paris. When Mr Imbert reached out to Ms Rosenfeld in January, she said she was touched by his invitation to the Disneyland Paris opening, thinking it was a 'gesture of peace'. But after learning about the exposé that was to come, Ms Rosenfeld said she understood it was an attempt to 'control the narrative' and secure her silence. 'I'm speaking out now because it took me a long time to heal. I stayed because I was under control. And I'm not looking to gain anything – just the peace of being at one with myself,' she wrote. 'I am not Éléonore', I am Alexandra. And now, I'm speaking.'

We finally know when everyone's favourite guilty pleasure is returning to Netfli

Netflix's biggest escapist smash is coming back for season five in a matter of months. Emily in Paris, with its titular beret aficionado (Lily Collins) and her ever-dramatic love life, is set to return to the streaming service just in time for Christmas. Season four of the Europe-hopping drama, complete with miniature croissant stress-level storylines, delivered a cliffhanger that questioned the entire premise of the show. The finale left Paris in favour of Rome, and then the final season scene saw our fashion-forward heroine start to change her Instagram handle, from @EmilyinParis to @Emilyin…. Rome? Maybe. We never find out, because her new love interest Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini) comes knocking. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. After a year's wait, we will finally be able to find out where exactly Emily stands with Paris. The official Netflix account on X shared first-look pictures at season five, with the caption: 'Benvenuto! Your first look at Emily in Paris season five is here, coming to Netflix December 18!' So we're only a few months away from more classic, girl TV. And there's more good news yet, folks. This season will not follow in the footsteps of the last and split the episodes up into a two-part release. Instead, all 10 episodes of season five will arrive in one binge-worthy lot in December – hurrah! The first look photos tease not only Rome as a new hotspot on the show, but Venice, with Emily (and a new chic bob) seen jetting through the sinking city's waters. According to the season summary, Lily Collins' Emily Cooper is now the head of Agence Grateau Rome, and she faces challenges to her career and love life as she adjusts to her new home. We'll also see Lucien Laviscount's Alfie back, after a rather slim showing from the gruff Londoner in season four. Plus, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) is still in the mix – despite making his not-entirely-praiseworthy thoughts on the last season very public. More Trending The official Netflix summary continues: 'But just as everything falls into place, a work idea backfires, and the fallout cascades into heartbreak and career setbacks. 'Seeking stability, Emily leans into her French lifestyle, until a big secret threatens one of her closest relationships. Tackling conflict with honesty, Emily emerges with deeper connections, renewed clarity, and a readiness to embrace new possibilities.' But despite her very long time being a movie star, she has revealed how people tend to get her name wrong. Kirsten also revealed how Brits are the worst for it. The Hollywood star said she has answered to everything including "criss-ten", "ker-stin". In a TikTok video from Town and Country magazine, she said: "I mean, everyone messes up my name, so I give up. "I don't care… I don't blame people. Like in England, they don't really say my name right. "The last set, everyone was saying my name wrong. There was like Swedish people and people from Hungary. You just give up." Kirsten then confirmed the correct way to say her name is, "Keer-sten". However, poking fun at her annoyance, she added: "But again, who cares? It's fine." Fans were left bowled over by this revelation, and one commented: "Omg I thought it was 'Ker-stin' my whole life!" In the trilogy - which ran from 2022 until 2007 - she played Mary Jane Watson alongside Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker. However, whilst filming the blockbuster movies she was given a nickname. Speaking to Marie Claire magazine: "It was a joke, but on Spider-Man, they would call me 'girly-girl' sometimes on the walkie-talkie. "But I never said anything … Like, don't call me that." Speaking about the era in which it happened, Kirsten said: '"You didn't say anything (then). You just took it."
