The visit was part of the "I Am Creative" Week activities included in the "Sharjah Sports Summer - Our Holiday Is Different" programme. This comes as part of the Emirate of Sharjah's ongoing support and great attention to youth and children, and embodies the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to harness the energies of children during the summer vacation through comprehensive and unique activities.
Combining modernity and national identity
The reception, held on Thursday morning at the club's headquarters, was intended to allow Al Dhaid Club to continue its activities as part of "Sharjah Sports Summer" in a unique style that combines modernity and national identity, relying on an integrated infrastructure and qualified personnel. This ensures the programme's objectives of building an aware, empowered generation that participates in supporting the development process in the UAE.
The visiting delegation was headed by Bakhit Saeed Al Qurs, Director of the Sports and Community Events Department and Chairman of the Sharjah Sports Summer Committee, accompanied by Ahmed Ali Al Salman, Programme Director and Chairman of the Supervision and Follow-up Committee.
The delegation was received by Salem Mohammed bin Howaiden Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Dhaid Club; Saif bin Dalwan Al Ketbi, Chairman of the Strategic Planning and Institutional Excellence Committee at the club; and Muhair Obaid Al Khayal Al Tunaiji, Executive Director of the club.
Comprehensive visit
During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the summer programmes and events organised by the club within a comprehensive framework that combines entertainment, education, and skills.
The tour included several modern facilities, such as the indoor swimming pool, the multi-purpose gym, and the shooting hall, which received special attention due to the precise and professional training it provides to participants. The delegation also attended part of the club's daily cultural competition and several sports and competitive activities aimed at strengthening team spirit and developing the physical and mental capabilities of members.
Addressing the needs of different age groups
During the meeting, Al Dhaid Club officials emphasised that this year's summer programmes were designed according to well-thought-out scientific and educational principles, addressing the needs of different age groups. They contribute to instilling values of belonging and discipline, and fostering creative thinking among participants.
Building well-balanced personalities
The programmes are held under the umbrella of the "Our Holiday is Different" programme, which includes themes such as "I am Creative," "I am an Athlete," "I am the Future," and "I am the Community," among others. These programmes aim to build a well-rounded and balanced personality for young people.
For their part, SSC delegation praised the quality of the programmes and organisation, and the clear interaction from the participants. They noted the club's efforts in translating the emirate's vision of empowering youth and providing a stimulating and safe environment to hone their skills during the summer vacation. Diverse Club Involvement Twenty other pools at clubs and centers were also renovated, including those at the Islamic Forum, Al Thiqa Club for the Disabled, the Arab Cultural Club, Al Hamriyah Cultural Sports Club, Sharjah Cultural Sports Club, Police Officers Club, Police Academy, Khorfakkan Ladies Club, Sharjah Safari Staff Pool, Desert Park (Environment and Protected Areas Authority), Al Dhaid Cultural Sports Club, Madam Cultural Sports Club, Al Bataeh Cultural Sports Club, Maliha Sports Club, and Dibba Al-Hisn Cultural Sports Club. New Systems, Energy Efficiency Focused Technical teams from the Directorate's Building Maintenance Department carried out a range of works to ensure pool safety and operational efficiency. This included cleaning the pools, testing water quality, and verifying the effectiveness of disinfection systems to ensure user safety. Infrastructure Upgrades Done According to a technical report from the department, the maintenance included replacing outdated water pumps with more efficient systems, installing energy-saving LED lighting, and equipping new "Chiller" units for temperature regulation. Parts of the pool insulation systems were also upgraded to enhance safety and usability. Vital Services Maintained The SDPW highlighted that these efforts are crucial, given the importance of these facilities to the community. The pool renovations are part of a larger plan to ensure infrastructure readiness throughout the emirate. Annual Strategy Ensures Quality Eng. Hadhif Al Khodr, Director of the Building Maintenance Department, noted that the maintenance work is part of an annual plan to maintain the efficiency of vital facilities in the emirate. The objective is to provide excellent services to the public, particularly during the summer when pool usage peaks. He emphasised that all work adhered to top technical specifications and environmental standards to minimise energy consumption and promote sustainability. Leadership Vision Fulfilled He added that the project was carried out in response to directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, aimed at ensuring a safe and ideal environment for residents to participate in sports and recreation. Sustainable Future Goals These initiatives are part of a broader summer program by the Department, encompassing various service sectors. The goal is to provide high-quality services that align with the emirate's aspirations and contribute to its vision of being a sustainable and eco-friendly city.

Participants used augmented reality glasses to engage in interactive sessions in digital environments that simulate future training and sports arenas. Participants experienced an atmosphere of excitement and discovery, interacting with virtual content in a way that stimulated sensory and visual perception. This unique experience combined learning with enjoyment, and contributed to strengthening their understanding of the difference between the digital and real worlds through purposeful discussions and practical application. Keeping pace with digital transformation The workshop is part of Al Dhaid Club's vision to keep pace with digital transformations in the sports sector and instill the concepts of innovation and technology in the minds of the younger generation. A generation capable of interacting with technological changes For his part, His Excellency Humaid Abdullah Balsadriya Al Khatri, Vice Chairman of Al Dhaid Club's Board of Directors, emphasised that the workshop embodies the club's commitment to preparing a generation capable of interacting with technological changes in a sporting spirit. He noted that adopting augmented reality technologies in training programs is a qualitative step that opens new horizons for Emirati youth to discover their potential in a fun and innovative way. Al Khatri explained that these initiatives come with the support of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to promote the concept of cognitive sports and prepare a conscious generation capable of excelling in the arenas of the future.
