Do you know where you're going to? Star of the Seas will be Diana Ross' destination this August, as the legendary singer will serve as the Royal Caribbean ship's godmother.
"I am truly honored to join the Royal Caribbean family," Ross said. "Having spent years of creating beautiful music and memories and bringing people together from all over the world, this feels like a perfect continuation of my journey, as godmother of Star of the Seas."
Ross will attend the ship's naming ceremony, for which details have yet to be announced.
Star of the Seas, sister ship of Icon of the Seas, will sail year-round from Port Canaveral.
"We couldn't imagine a more fitting godmother for Star than Diana Ross, who is a true icon known for creating music that transcends generations while celebrating life and bringing people together," said Royal Caribbean International president Michael Bayley. "We can't wait to welcome Ms. Ross, our guests and crew to celebrate the arrival of Star this August."

Pope Leo XIV joins Chicago's Icon Hall of Fame

CHICAGO — Chicago's history is filled with larger-than-life personalities, but no Chicagoan has achieved quite the mix of fame and faith that Pope Leo has. From the Red Line to the skyline, and from comedians to coaches, Chicago is a city of icons. The Windy Cindy is the long-term home of the world's best basketball player, Michael Jordan, and the nation's biggest TV star, Oprah. It's the birthplace of Disney and deep dish, and the home of the first Black president and now the first American pope. 'I never knew until recently that the pope has never been from the U.S., let alone Chicago. I think it's cool, really cool,' Andrew Billups said. Pope Leo XIV was on the front of nearly every newspaper worldwide. His face is already one of the most recognizable in the world. Chicago is also taking center stage on late night TV. 'Regardless of your beliefs, I think it's pretty cool that Chicago's getting represented on a global scale,' Molly Meinhart said. In front of another Chicago icon — the Wrigley Field Marquee — Meinhart says the pope will take his place in a long line of Chicago icons. 'It's pretty cool piecing together all of the things that have always been famous and now new famous things. I can say I lived in Chicago when we got the pope,' Meinhart said. One of Chicago's signature hot dog stands, the Weiner's Circle, paid tribute to the pope. 'I think it's incredible. I hope he'll be an excellent representative of the city and the needs of Americans and Catholics worldwide,' Matt Ott said. Chicago embraced the pope in t-shirts, social media memes and sandwiches. Sports fans have attended Bears games dressed as Mike Ditka. Now, baseball fans are coming to Sox games as the pope. 'I saw a meme about the Bean being placed in the Vatican, I thought it was a funny thing. It's important that it's a new place for America in the world,' Liya Johny said. In Dolton, William Nowling lives next to the pope's childhood home. He knows his block is a landmark because it once sheltered Chicago's newest icon. 'I hope he at least visits the block again,' he said. 'I hope the pope moves back here. That'd be too much of a stretch, but I hope they leave it as a landmark.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Officials plan for I-84 W closure this weekend for maintenance, graffitti removal

PORTLAND, Ore. () — If you plan on taking Interstate 84 by car or by train this weekend, you might have to change course as the westbound lanes from Interstate-205 and I-5 are set to close for a number of projects. Starting at midnight Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday, all westbound lanes will be closed for maintenance, everything from graffiti removal to regular street maintenance. ICE arrests another asylum-seeker in Portland Several agencies, including the Oregon Department of Transportation, TriMet, the Portland Bureau of Transportation and the City of Portland will be out along the highway. David House with the Oregon Department of Transportation said this closure may cause a headache, but it's necessary. 'This is also an opportunity for ODOT crews to get to some areas that are difficult to reach safely unless you close the highway so we'll be out there too doing some various maintenance,' House said. A big part of last year's project was graffiti removal, you might remember the endless sight of tags along the walls of the highway. 'We think it's been very successful and it's helped reduce what many travelers considered an eyesore,' House said. KOIN 6 News also caught up with Robert Barrie, owner of Portland Graffiti Removal. He said they'll have crews along the highway taking care of what they can. He also said this year's job isn't nearly as hefty as the . 'When it gets really bad with graffiti, everybody notices,' Barrie said. 'When they have these types of closures, we can jump into those sections without having to worry about traffic and so forth.' Motorcyclist dies after crashing into pickup TriMet is also working on a project along I-84 that will impact MAX travelers. They will be shutting off power at their NE 82nd Avenue MAX line, to put in a new set of stairs to the temporary platform, which is a part of the MAX Improvement Project. ODOT officials said while there is the potential for work to wrap up early, travelers should expect delays until 4 p.m. Sunday. They said to check TripCheck for the latest on delays and closures.
