Masters 2025 first round live updates, leaderboard: Follow Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau early at Augusta National
The 89th playing of the Masters is underway.
The first major championship of the year got off and running on Thursday morning at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, starting with the annual ceremonial tee shot from Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Tom Watson. From there, the quest for the iconic green jacket was on.

Scottie Scheffler is the betting favorite this week after his win there last year. The top-ranked golfer in the world flew ahead to a four-shot win over Ludvig Åberg and the rest of the field on Sunday to claim his second career Masters win. Scheffler has three top-10 finishes so far this season on the PGA Tour, including a runner-up finish in his last start at the Texas Children's Houston Open.
Rory McIlroy has the second-best odds entering the tournament, though he hasn't won a major championship since 2014 despite coming painfully close plenty of times. There are 12 LIV Golf members in the field this week, too, including 2023 winner Jon Rahm. Only seven of them have lifetime status from previous wins, though, which is only going to make things more difficult for the rest of the golfers on the Saudi Arabian-backed circuit to earn a spot in the field in the future so long as the golf world remains fractured.

Jazz Chisholm's mid-game ESPN interview takes unfortunate turn during Yankees loss
Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a lot on his plate in the third inning Sunday night, and it cost him. Chisholm wore a microphone at the top of the third for an in-game interview with ESPN's broadcast team while he manned the hot corner for the Yankees against the Red Sox. He had to cut himself off while answering the announcers' questions as Ceddanne Rafaela hit a chopping ground ball toward third base. Chisholm made a nice play on the ball, but his spinning throw to first went well up the line and allowed Rafaela to advance to second base. ESPN often does in-game player interviews during its presentation of 'Sunday Night Baseball,' which has been met with some criticism from many fans, as it feels like a distraction for the fielders who have a job to do. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST And while the play was by no means an easy one, even without being mic'd up, Chisholm's error certainly added some fuel to the anti-mid-game-interview crowd's fire. THE WRAP-UP PODCAST: The final word on the most painful of defeats
A PLACE that holds so many happy memories is fast becoming something of a graveyard for Warrington Wolves. Those three Challenge Cup Final victories in four years in 2009, 2010 and 2012 will always be remembered but now, four of their five trips to Wembley Stadium since then have ended in defeat. Advertisement And in the circumstances, this was perhaps the most painful of the lot as despite a superb performance on the day, Sam Burgess' side saw victory snatched away at the death by Hull KR. We've brought you plenty of post-match reaction since the full-time hooter sounded on Saturday afternoon but now, our final word comes in the shape of our match review podcast "The Wrap-Up." Our Warrington Wolves reporter Matt Turner hosts with help from Wire fans Gareth Dunning and Rob Croston to help unpack the key moments of the 8-6 defeat. We bring you head coach Sam Burgess' press conference in full while we also bring you a chat with Marc Sneyd, who became only the second player in history to win the Lance Todd Trophy three times having been voted as player of the match despite being on the losing side.
