River Island closing popular Irish store this month in bombshell move

River Island has announced it will close its popular Henry Street store in Dublin this month in a shock move.
The well-known fashion retailer, which operates 24 stores across Ireland, confirmed the closure with a notice on the shop window.
The poster reads: "This store is closing. This store will be closing from Friday 27th June."
While the closure is a blow to Dublin city centre shoppers, River Island reassured customers that it's Grafton Street store and online shop will remain open for business.
The notice added: "Please visit us 24/7 online at RiverIsland.com or at your nearest store, Grafton Street. To all our valued customers we will see you soon!"
The announcement comes amid a wider restructuring process for the brand in the UK, which could put around 230 stores and thousands jobs at risk.
Earlier this year, River Island's accounts showed a €38 million pre-tax loss for 2023, with turnover dropping by more than 19% to €677 million. The company has since brought in advisers from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) to help find cost-saving solutions.
This latest store closure adds to challenges for the Irish retail market, which also saw New Look exit the country earlier this year, closing all 26 of its stores in Ireland.
Dublin Live has contacted River Island for comment.
