Pahalgam incident: PM calls for impartial global probe
KAKUL: Prime Minister Shehbaz calls for an impartial international investigation into the Pahalgam incident, which claimed lives of 27 tourists in the India-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying the neighbouring country hurled baseless allegations on Pakistan following the attack.
Addressing the passing-out parade at the Kakul Academy, the premier highlighted that Pakistan was a frontline state against terrorism.
He warned that Pakistan would give a befitting response if water was stopped by India in violation of the Indus Waters Treaty. 'There shouldn't be any misunderstanding,' he added.
Pakistan asks India to present evidence
PM Sharif said Pakistan always rejected terrorism in all its forms, pointing out that it's the worst-hit country by this menace in the world. 'We lost 90,000 citizens due to terrorism and suffered losses of billions of dollars,' he reiterated.
He stated that Pakistan, as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, aspired to promote peace and security across the globe and would continue its efforts in this regard.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said, 'Afghanistan is our neighbouring and brotherly Islamic country, and we wish to have relations with them based on peaceful coexistence'. However, unfortunately, terrorist activities were being carried out in Pakistan from Afghan soil, he expressed concern.
He said Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar recently visited Kabul and conveyed that Pakistan wanted good and peaceful relations with Afghanistan, but attacks on Pakistan from Afghan territory could not be tolerated.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had said that Kashmir was the jugular vein of Pakistan. This international dispute had been awaiting resolution for decades. 'Kashmiris have sacrificed hundreds of thousands of lives to get freedom,' he said and lamented that the international community appeared to have failed to resolve the Kashmir issue.
PM Shehbaz attended the passing-out parade as a guest of honour while Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir was guest of honour (military).
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and several foreign dignitaries attended the parade.

Bhutto Zardari strongly denounced India's unilateral and illegal suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. He warned that the weaponisation of water undermines international norms and sets a perilous precedent. He urged the international community to take notice of this alarming development and hold India to account for its actions. The delegation noted that the pending resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute remains the principal stumbling block to lasting peace and stability in the region. They urged the international community to support meaningful dialogue and ensure respect for international commitments and human rights. National economy witnesses stability: Tarar
LAHORE: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said the country's economy has witnessed stability due to prudent policies of the government. 'The government's entire focus is now on economy,' Tarar said, adding: 'Pakistan has achieved great success under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff.' Talking to media, Tarar said a befitting response was given to the Indian blatant aggression against Pakistan due to the comprehensive strategy of the Field Marshal. He said the friendly countries also extended full support to Pakistan during Pak-India tension. Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan has made significant progress at diplomatic front and the entire world acknowledged Pakistan's success. Regarding the Prime Minister's recent visit to Saudi Arabia, he termed it highly successful. He said the Prime Minister during the Eid days, held telephonic conversations with leaders of different Muslim countries and to extend them warm Eid greetings. He added the Prime Minister also telephoned political leadership of the country, including the Governors, the Chief Ministers and the Federal Ministers and extended warm Eid greetings to them. Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday held a telephonic conversation with Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Chaudhry Salik Hussain. Erdogan reaffirms support to Pakistan
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to fast track implementation on the key decisions taken in recent meetings between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during this year. The understanding to this effect reached during telephonic conversation between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Sunday. The Prime Minister said this would help accelerate bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade and investment. During the conversation, the Prime Minister conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the Turkish President, as well as to the brotherly people of Turkiye, on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha. While recalling their recent meetings in Istanbul and Lachin, the Prime Minister thanked President Erdogan once again for Turkiye's strong and unwavering support to Pakistan during the recent Pakistan-India crisis.
