Stephen O'Donnell embracing new Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou's style
After two years of relative stability under Stuart Kettlewell, Motherwell employed their second foreign manager this year when they appointed Jens Berthel Askou to replace German Michael Wimmer.
The Dane has a similar attacking philosophy to his predecessor in terms of pressing high up the park but his desire to play the ball out from the back has been more pronounced.
Askou faces a big test on Tuesday when Motherwell host Morton in the Premier Sports Cup needing victory to guarantee progression to the second round.
On adapting to the new boss, O'Donnell said: 'We found it with the old manager when he came in. It was a different kind of style, different ideas. And the gaffer has probably amplified that a wee bit more.
'I find it exciting, interesting, you're learning different ideas and different ways in which people think of the game. You're always trying to learn. And I think that's something I'm capable of doing. I'm excited to continue to learn.
'I've been enjoying it, trying to work on different things. The most important thing is that we are seeing progression on the pitch and in the style, and hopefully getting the wins that make that progression easier.'
Elsewhere, Falkirk take on Queen's Park at home while Kilmarnock bid to cement their place at the top of Group H when they travel to Fife to take on Kelty Hearts.
Dundee head coach Steven Pressley takes his team to Bonnyrigg Rose as he bids to secure his first win, although progression is already beyond his team.

RB Leipzig have entered transfer talks with Liverpool over a deal to sign their 'fearless' £50m English star Harvey Elliott, according to reports. The German club are interested in recruiting Elliott as a replacement for Xavi Simons, who is expected to join Chelsea in the summer window. Liverpool want £50m to sell the 22-year-old, although they'd be open to offers of £40m if a buy-back clause was inserted into the deal. The Athletic report that RB Leipzig have made contact with Liverpool and discussions – which are currently ongoing – are at an early stage. Elliott only started two Premier League matches for Liverpool in the 2024-25 campaign in what was Arne Slot's debut season as head coach. He moved to Anfield from Fulham six years ago, with Liverpool paying the west London club an initial £1.5m plus £2.8m in contingent amounts. Elliott has also attracted interest from Premier League club West Ham ahead of the new season. Speaking in July, Elliott admitted that he was open to leaving Liverpool over a lack of playing time. 'Look, if I had it my way, I'd be here for the rest of my career, it's as simple as that, I love everything about the club,' Elliott told The Anfield Wrap. 'But at the same time I kind of need to be selfish with myself and see what's best for me. 'I have big ambitions. I want to go to the World Cup. I want to keep being successful as a player. The Ibrox side delivered a stunning defence of manager Russell Martin's methods to all but secure a place in the play-off round. There was no sulking, no grumbling. Any bruised egos were on the bench, out of harm's way, until the game was safe. James Tavernier came on to take the armband from John Souttar when it was already 3-0 and while Rangers lived slightly dangerously at times, this margin of lead was preserved prior to next Tuesday's re-match in Czech Republic. Dropping the undroppables The supposed undroppables were dropped, including Tavernier. Although he scored at Motherwell at the weekend, he paid for his part in the Fir Park side's equaliser. In addition to Tavernier, Nico Raskin was named among the substitutes which was perhaps even more surprising news. The Belgian midfielder has often been Rangers' star man on such occasions but was relegated to a supporting role, although he did make an appearance midway through the second half in place of Joe Rothwell. Ibrox seemed pleased to see him but with the hosts in such control, no one could object to the fact he hadn't started, even if there had been some moans before kick-off. This was far too late for inclusion in the matchday programme. Cameron, however, was featured. 'Job if you were not a footballer?' Farmer, he replied. 'My auntie has farms,' he explained. As for Djeidi Gassama, who is proving the revelation of Rangers' season so far, he is only 21. These three players combined brilliantly midway through the opening half, with Cameron feeding Gassama on the left and the former Sheffield Wednesday winger cutting back for Antman, whose strong shot was heroically cleared off the line by Vaclav Jemelka. It was a timely early goal because the visitors had settled quicker, as expected given the raft of changes made by Martin. The pace of right winger, No 99 Amar Memic, was causing problems. Rangers had their own livewire in Antman, whose cross on ten minutes forced the Plzen defence into desperate measures while giving the Ibrox crowd a glimpse of the excitement he looks set to bring. There's still 17-year-old Mikey Moore, who has signed on loan from Spurs but is not yet registered to play, to come in. He might have to bide his time although fans will relish the prospect of him on the opposite flank from Antman. Still, don't forget the old stagers. Dessers played his part and had an integral role in Rangers' opener after 15 minutes. The ever-dangerous Gassama played a give-and-go into the Nigerian striker and got back what he wanted before supplying the composed finish to set the tone for his night. Gassama performed the role Dessers had carried out for him earlier when receiving the ball from Antman, who had picked it up deep in his own half. Gassama quickly returned the ball to the winger, whose quick progress towards the Plzen box spooked their defenders. Skipper Matej Vydra clipped the Finn and referee Clement Turpin pointed to the spot, with no VAR objection forthcoming. Martin's plan was working and when Gassama headed in a third just five minutes into the second half with Mohamed Diomande having already struck the bar from the edge of the box, anything seemed possible. Aarons played a sumptuous pass down the right into the path of Antman, whose cross was precision personified. With the 'keeper stranded, Gassama only had to bow his head and let the ball strike it for his fourth European goal.

Kicking was fine as he mixed it up. 7 Max Aarons Took up his natural right-back position with James Tavernier benched. Looked more comfortable and linked well with Oliver Antman. Involved in the third goal but limped off. 7 Nasser Djiga Huge block from Matej Vydra at 1-0 and strolled it in general. Pace and power meant he dealt easily with everything Plzen threw at him. Shrewd signing on loan. 8 John Souttar Captain for the night and is developing a good partnership with Djiga. Passing out from the back was decent and didn't really break sweat with his defensive work. 7 Jefte Brazilian came in at left-back and did fine, barring some wayward passing. Probably won't be a long-term solution there but worked hard and provided balance. 7 Mohamed Diomande Must have got a jolt after Russell Martin's weekend blast as he responded with a strong display. Energetic and curling effort hit the bar in the second half. 7 Joe Rothwell Kept things simple in the middle of the park and dictated the tempo for Rangers with neat passing and movement. Subbed just after the hour mark. 7 Lyall Cameron Huge chance for the former Dundee kid on his first start and he took it. Direct, full of energy and always positive with his play in a top performance. 8 Oliver Antman Finnish winger was handed a quickfire debut 24 hours after signing and made an instant impression. Won a penalty, set up the third and was a constant threat. 9 Cyriel Dessers Preferred to Danilo up front and showed why. Dessers set up the opener with a clever pass and then slammed in a penalty. Led the line well throughout. 8 Djeidi Gassama Gers' Champions League specialist was at it again with a deadly double. His superb finish made it 1-0 and he then nodded in the third. Fans' favourite already. 9 Rangers star Dujon Sterling spotted on revolutionary anti-gravity treadmill as he ramps up injury recovery Substitutes: NICO RASKIN (5) dropped and was then booked for dissent when warming up.
