Taylor Swift Announces New Album
Taylor Swift is dropping a new album.
A countdown appeared on Swift's website against a glittery orange background on Aug. 11 and reached zero at 12:12 a.m. ET on Aug. 12. The website briefly crashed as fans flooded the site in anticipation. Preorders for the new album will ship out before Oct. 13, although the official release date has not yet been announced. The album artwork and tracklist are also yet to be revealed.
Swift appears set to reveal the album artwork during an upcoming episode of the podcast 'New Heights,' hosted by her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
The Life of a Showgirl will be Swift's 12th original studio album. Her last album was The Tortured Poets Department, which was released on April 19, 2024. Swift has also released four reissues of her previous albums as part of an effort to reclaim the rights to her own work.
While many fans had been anticipating a reissue of her Reputation album from 2017, Swift bought back her masters earlier this year and said in a letter to fans that she was putting off the re-recording project for now.
The countdown for the new album followed other so-called easter eggs, hints for fans that Swift is known for dropping ahead of big announcements, including a 12-photo carousel posted by Swift's official marketing team featuring images of Swift in orange outfits during her record-breaking Eras Tour. The post's caption,'Thinking about when she said, 'See you next era…'' references the first page of Swift's official photobook, The Eras Tour, in which a letter from Swift to fans ends with, 'See you next era…'

The Kelce brothers' 'New Heights' podcast posted a teaser on Monday for a special episode on Aug. 13, featuring a 'VERY special' mystery guest, which led fans to jump on the fact that Swift's favorite number is 13. Shortly after, the brothers revealed that the guest would be Swift in a post that read, 'Taylor's about to do a f*cking podcast!' The episode is set to release Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.
August also appears to be a favorite month for Swift, who aside from writing a song named 'August,' has made four out of 13 of her album announcements (including re-recordings but excluding her first two albums, which did not have official online announcements) in August, according to Kayla Wong who runs a social media account dedicated to tracking Swift-related news through data. Most of Swift's albums released two to three months after being announced.

She styled it with pointy black heels, a matching micro bag, gold jewellery, and a voluminous, wavy hairdo. Kendall matched her little sister's energy in her own little black dress—a sleek strapless number—which the minimalist supermodel styled only with black sandals and little gold hoop earrings. Her hair was pulled back into a neat bun. Later in the night, for a dinner date at Italian restaurant Alba in Los Angeles, the famous BFFs were also joined by Alex Consani and two other girlfriends, and all seven of them coordinated in black-and-white looks. Will Taylor Swift be at Travis Kelce's preseason game vs. Seahawks?
It's getting to be that time again. Travis Kelce continues to play NFL games in 2025, and his girlfriend Taylor Swift has had some time to cheer him on at Kansas City Chiefs games. She was there a few last season, including playoff games and -- of course -- the Super Bowl. Taylor Swift says you should think of your energy like it's an expensive 'luxury item'
Taylor Swift might have worn an $11,400 necklace when announcing her new album, but she spoke more about another luxe commodity: her energy. The pop star explained how she maintains a "healthy relationship" with social media during an appearance on her boyfriend Travis Kelce 's podcast, saying that she ignores a lot of what's written and posted about her. "I have so many friends or acquaintances or people where like, they'll see one comment they don't like and it will ruin their day, it will ruin their night," Swift said. "I just want to say to them, you should think of your energy as if it's expensive, as if it's like a luxury item. Not everyone can afford it." Kelce's sense of humor about online content has helped Swift get to this point of relative nonchalance, she said. And some of her willful ignorance is by design — she said she's had her Instagram comments disabled for around 10 years and doesn't miss them. Swift is no stranger to online hate — last year, sexually explicit AI-generated images of her went viral on X and Telegram, with one image staying up for 17 hours and getting more than 45 million views. The posts reignited calls for laws to fight deepfakes, and Swift herself turned those and other false images into political fuel. In September, she announced she was endorsing former Vice President Kamala Harris for president in part because of AI-generated images of her that President Donald Trump posted. As one of the world's most successful artists, Swift has to be intentional with how she expends the "luxury item" of her energy, which has itself been a topic of controversy. Though she spent a combined 484 hours singing onstage at the Eras tour and was in a state of self-described " perpetual discomfort," fans and critics alike knocked her for taking a break after the concerts ended. As strict RTO mandates are back in full swing and Elon Musk touts 120-hour work weeks, Swift's comments about protecting one's own energy may resonate beyond the social media realm. Gen Z workers are avoiding leadership roles to protect their work-life balance, while employees generally may be experiencing " quiet cracking" and struggling to find meaning in the many hours of "expensive" energy, to quote Swift, they spend at their jobs.
